Have found no value in FB yet. Is it my techniques?

Preface. I am a Wedding DJ and a IT Director with a bit of SEO and PPC experience.

I have spent years trying to do effective marketing on Facebook and to this day after spending nearly $2000 on the platform still have not had a single converted inquiry and only 3 semi-qualified leads.

I have tried so many different techniques in delivering ads. From Post Boost, Video Ads, multi-image ads, single image ads, copy that works in my AdWords PPC world, off-site landing pages and in-Facebook lead collection. Every time I get near 0:00:00 time on my landing pages and no collected leads within the Facebook ecosystem. It boggles my mind when one can really hyper-target audiences that it seems that the only people clicking are click-farms/click-bots. Oh and for off-site pages it seems that at least 70% of clicks are phantom clicks.

What makes marketing in general difficult is that in my industry you don't really get repeat customers, so while branding is critical brand loyalty just means the possible WoM referral. So I am in a constant push to find 30-40 clients who sign a contract every year (averaging about 200 inquiries in a year).

So I am hoping that maybe some success stories can be born from this thread. Otherwise, at least in my space, it's just not an effective medium.

Your money may be put to better use through outsourcing the advertising?
If you do a google search, I'm sure that would return a plethora of results.

Have you thought about looking in Upwork for freelancers?

I bet you may even turn up some results right here in good ole WF...just my two cents for what they're worth

Short of finding someone "on the cheap" that frankly I have talked to even higher level SEO/PPC people and I am generally on par with their level of knowledge, I don't think hiring a less expensive option will net me good results.

And for the top-tier SEO/PPC people that would blow my advertising budget out of the water. This business pulls in $50k/yr and many good firms charge many thousands for their work.

I'm not crazy about FB for leads.

I got way more response through Google Ads, though I'm in a different market.

For your business though, I would work on building a good FB page first.

Tag your customers in posts that include pics of their event (with their permission, of course).

Get your customers to write reviews on your FB page, Google and anywhere else.

    Create contests.

If this is for your DJ business you can have lots of fun with it.

Talk to past customers and find out why they chose you, and you'll understand what their problems are.

Also, don't be afraid to hire help. Knowledge doesn't always equal experience.

I already do employ this strategy. I constantly republish my reviews to gain exposure. I post day of content.

Contests, i am not sure if that would work well in my case. At this point I get very few people that like my page until after the wedding. So I am not getting many potential leads on the eyes of my page.

I wouldn't mind hiring help, but given the total income of the business is $50,000 and the typical PPC/SEO firm fees are $2500 or more a month it's a hard sell to put that much money into a firm. Most of my per-source budgets are less than that.

Facebook is obviously not working for you. Stop banging your head against the wall. Try spending more of your time on instagram...its still unfiltered. I would also do more offline marketing.

Yeah I wish my audience was on IG, but I tend to attract the older couples or non-IG customers overall. Got even less traction (read zero) from IG on a few trial balloons.

In your market, people go to google/bing. You offer a service that is only relevant to someone during a special time and those people "google it". Sounds like you know that already.

That being said, you can use SEM (SEO too) to drive traffic when someone googles "best local DJ for my wedding" or w/e. When they land on your page, they see a ton of social proof because you've been using FB to gather page Likes and Reviews.

Marry the two with two different objectives in mind.

    My opinion.

Remember Youtube is a search engine too.

    Good luck yo.

You don't have to wait for your FB campaigns to be successful anymore. I can see some flaws in your case Please do Read SCIENTIFIC ADVERTISING by CLAUDE HOPKINS.Maybe your target audience is somewhere else.

Well it does seem that the target audience (for me at least) does not exist in the Facebook space. Which is a shame given that the targeting aspects on the surface seems second-to-none. But alas after continuous attempts the proof is in the pudding.

I got way more response through Stumpleupon Ads, though I'm in a different market. I tried to run Ads on FB and Instagram but it didn't go well. Maybe a fans page on FB would help you.
