Instagram Advertising

Hi!

I am a newbie with Instagram. I do understand that, to advertise in Instagram, one needs to have a Facebook business page. But, I do not understand why. Do the ads run in Instagram or in Facebook.

If the ads run in Facebook, shouldn't I be advertising my business page in Facebook directly?

Thank you.

The ads run on Ins and u could put your Fb link under the ads. Its your choice, u can run ads in both Fb and Ins if u could pay

I believe it has something to do with how the FB/IG adserver runs. If you choose to advertise on IG it will only appear there even though you are linked to an FB page. If you use Power Editor you'll be able to choose your placements.

It won't have anything to do with your IG pictures.

      Dear Ned,

      Thank you for your reply.

So the ads run on IG and, w/ Power Editor, I can control where on IG.

Can the ad itself link to my website rather than to my FB page?

Yep, if you're using power editor you'll have the option to create an IG ad that can link to your website.

Plz note that you cannot promote an organic IG post this way. Of course, you CAN recreate the organic post but the engagement will be separate from the original.

Yes. You can link to your site or landing page straight from Instagram.

You have control over where you want leads to go!

Because Facebook bought Instagram and built Instagram's ad platform on the back of Facebook's pre-existing ad platform you must connect your Instagram account to you're Facebook page.

Once you switch your Instagram account to a business profile by connecting to the corresponding Facebook page you can create ads on Instagram.

However, if you want more control and targeting with your ads, create them in the Facebook ads manager and just choose Instagram ad!

Super easy because then you just have all your Facebook and IG ads all in one place on the same ad platform.

Let me know if this helps!

      Dear Luke,

      Thank you for your reply.

Can the ad connect to my website? In the "Clicks to Website: Instagram Links" page of the "Facebook Ads Guide" there is an error message that reads "There is an incompatibility preventing this ad from being shown on Instagram."

Does that mean that the "Call To Action" button does not work on Instagram's photo ads?

FYI, there is NO error message for the video ads or for the carousel ads.

Yes you can link to your website.

Not sure what the error message is. It might be if you have too many words on your ad.

Yes, to run ads, facebook is better than Instagram.
Instagram is good only for sharing images and in increasing followers.

Because Instagram is owned by Facebook, and Facebook want to manage their customer via only one business account, which allows users to run ads both on Facebook and Instagram.
