What's the best number of (daily) posts on major social media

Dear All,
could you kindly share your experience (or suggest valuable posts/articles online) on the best amount of posts one can publish on each social media, daily ?
We work with pictures so we do not have to write long articles, but we can afford to post a good number of times a day.

I found blogs that say :
Twitter 15 (min) 51 (max)
Facebook, Google+ 1-2
Pinterest, Instagram 2-3

How many times should (the same) posts on twitter be repeated daily ?
x3 ?
x5?
More to cover the whole day at 1.5 hours intervals ?

What are your views on this matter and your direct experience ?
What pays the most ?
(I assume that the content is impactful, of course)

    It's pretty simple really. Study your main competitors in your niche.

    You'll begin to notice a pattern. For instance a lot of the big Facebook accounts like ladbible post roughly once an hour.

    So if I was looking into creating a similar account I would likely emulate their posting strategy.

    Now you also need to see how they post. Using the ladbible example ... Their posts also follow a content pattern.

    One hour will be just a regular post like a video or something, then their next post will be maybe another video but this time it will be linked to an article on their website.

    So in other words, there is no right answer. But if you copy what the big guys do.. you're on the right track.

    They know what works, so following in their path gives you a better chance of success.

    I'd recommend researching your audience and your follower base. Are you localised to a timezone/region or are your followers international and from a wide variety of regions / timezones? You want to target prime times to post rather than automating posts on a content scheduler.

      Actually it' been difficult to research our audience because we don't have a sufficiently large customer base to interview with a proper pool.

      I just read the page
      This is VERY useful

      The problem is that we operate across europe and US now
      So it's kind of difficult to programme on sprout social according to all these time zones. This is something I have done for twitter which holds a s lot more content daily than anything else...But it's rather more complicated to operate on two time zones and post on g+ and Facebook. You always need to find completely different content to post otherwise people get annoyed by duplications.
      I'll try to apply the findings accurately. Thanks for your help!

      Great advice, that's why I think asking where your audience is from or using certain tools really is useful for that reason. Gotta know when your audience is most active

    I work with pictures too. But I have different oppinon on the numbers. My experience is that you can have much more posts per day on Pinterest and Instagram while share less on Twitter or FB.
    Below are the numbers I do daily :
    Twitter 3
    Facebook, Google+ 1-2
    Pinterest 10~ 20
    Instagram less than 10

      This is interesting : so little on twitter. The chances your 3 pics are seen during a day are very slim, I'm afraid

    It all depends on your audience, for example i handle the social media for digital raves and i post twice daily on facebook and instagram and 8 times on twitter. so you need to know your peak period and post around that times.

    In my opinion its important what you post and not how much you post .For example if you post pure value you can post as much as you like people will like it .Of course not in an agresive manner to be seen as spammer

      totally agree with you, it's interesting because some algorithms don't function off of timing, like Instagram's. But timing is still extremely important

    I often post 1-2 time for all Twitter, G+, Facebook. Since there is not much traffic from these channel. Maybe, my products are boring or i am not good at creating inspirational content for posts.

    Like others have said, you'll want to research the field and see how often you will need to post your content. My best suggestion is to schedule out your post so that you can post every 3 hours.

    This allows you to see which times are the best to post and give your audience enough time to interact with each post before you just drop another one.

    In my opinion, a social media user needs to be active on a social media site in order for them to be of use to you. With good content the user should have lots of activity.

    I know this is a late reply, but when I worked for a museum, i posted just 3 times per day on Twitter, no paid ads, and the following grew consistently by about 3 people per day. As someone else said, just being active is the most important thing.

      Yeah, also, Twitter has so much noise that no one really pays attention to what you say unless it really stands out, something to keep in mind as more followers doesn't always mean more engagement.

    Get a feel for what works, this is your audience. You need to be able to gauge them and give them what they want.

    The aim is to engage them and perhaps convert. That is the aim, do whatever it takes to make that happen. Your audience is unique so understand them and give them what they want.

    So obviously, don't listen to that blog that gave you what works for them.

      Love this advice, I always usually find that many things are never completely black and white with the exception of a few things. Experimenting what works best for you is usually the best bet I think. Great input

    I would say on Instagram definitely no less than 2 any day, and on weekends, I do sometimes as much as 3-5 posts
