Newbie Instagram marketing question. First time.

Hi, I am just dipping my toes into marketing via social media. With Instagram, I have a brand page, and I just uploaded a product image. I have a short description underneath. I know you have to build a community and everything, but my basic question is, can I add a link to my description that will take them directly to my product page?

I have done this actually by manually typing the URL into the text field. But looking at it on a web browser, the link is not clickable which leads me to think this is not the way to do this.

How do I promote a product with an upload and offer a link direct to the product page?

    The only clickable link you can add to Instagram is to the URL field on your home page.

    One good way to promote your product on IG is to engage other users through Likes and comments. This draws followers to you, who Like your photos and comment on the photos too, some of which will be your product photos.

    IG is not as link friendly. You can do some paid promoting but I'd focus on engaging folks to gain traction before worrying about links.

    Thank you all for the comments. I am considering all the suggestions here. At the moment I'm focusing on other promotion, so I can't necessarily focus on building a community of Instagram followers, but that may happen. I was hoping to just get the post up with a way for viewers to directly get to a product page first- then worry about traffic.

    You can't post a clickable link in description to your post, only in you profile bio.

    you should use more hashtags and tag many peoples you can and follow more people..

    You need to add hash tags, follow people and ask them to follow you. Also, add nice images and posts regularly.

    Use hash tags and follow people. You can request them to follow you. You can not add a link in your post. However, you can add them in profile bio.
