Hello,

I have always heard that youtube prohibits advertising on copyrighted content. I have watched vids that contained clips of movies or tv shows that did run an ad beforehand. How do people get away with this?

Thanks
Scott

In this case may be they can take permission from the content owner to use their content, another way you can use other videos but have to give credit of the video owner. Or may be they can use creative commons content where no copyright needed. Sometime some video editing tool can make a video so unique so that nobody cant understand this content took from others.

Well, Yes. There are copyrighted videos that are still monetized, but YouTube is working on that and that kind of channels will be terminated soon
