Seems impossible to me.

Create an event, ask influencers in your niche share the event.

If you want to have 1000 real followers without promotion, then it's impossible. You have to be ready to pay for that. Or spend on this many hours and nervous on this until there is will be a result.

It seems there are lots of effective information's shared in this thread. From all of that my suggestions is to use Avg. 30 popular niche hash tags - (all-hashtag site will give you some best ideas), Follow some popular profiles and their friend zone's too but it can be better if they do have interest on games, Add comments and shares on some popular gaming profiles and do it on a regular basis. You will definitely see a gradual improvement.

You could buy shoutouts from influencers to increase exposure!

I'm really curious.

The worst thing you can do on the Gram is skip a day. Stay on it and it will grow!

I increased my following from 100 to 600 in 3 days during xmas (i had a lot of time on my hands back then.. nowit's stayed the same since because i haven't been active)

I just kinda... tried stuff out not sure if it's the correct way but I did it by:

STEPS

1. finding out what my niche was - my pet rabbit. >> http://instagram.com/trainmybunny
2. following other people who had pet rabbits by clicking through the hashtags i was using #bunny #bunnygram #instabun #rabbit etc and seeing who else used the same tags
3. going through their friendslist and mass - follow ALL the rabbits LOL - there is a limit/day cap though.
4. liking things on my newsfeed and commenting on them using their actual names... or commenting on what they are doing etc so its personal.
5. turns out other people see your comment and your rabbit photo and are doing the same thing so they follow you! or if you follow them they naturally follow you back. not sure why. it depends on the community. bunny grammers are well into unspoken F 4 F (follow 4 follow) lol
6. now i dont have to hashtag and other bunny grammers comment on my photos saying he's cute. BECAUSE HES ADORABLEEEEEE xD Lol
7. post every couple of days to keep the followers building. i got lazy and post 1 a month lol
8. find out the most popular hashtags in your 'niche' and put them all in a notepad. but DON'T post it as your photo comment. post it as the 1st comment.. so you can delete it after 2 weeks. that way people think you're actually popular without hashtags. - plus people wont really find you after 2 weeks as yoru content is 'old'
9. not sure if this will work for others but it worked for me - now if only i could be bothered to continue

There are also free tools you can use to auto - schedule your Instagram posts so you dont have to manual post them. one good one is: https://later.com/ - Its completely free... you can post maybe 30 images automatically and schedule it... you have to pay for video posts (I think?) or it doesnt have it.

Theres another tool to prview how your instagram looks with your new image before you post it - so it ... matches like a moodboard. - have a google. Never used this but there's loads


TIPS

- There are statistics online if you look hard enough that tell you what time what type of post and person goes on instagram... so someone with a job will log in just after work and scroll through on the commute home, you use this time to post with hashtags they might look at at 6pm to try and either sell them... stuff like holidays or maybe even food related ones because they're hungry

- Check the latest news for most popular hashtags, viral stuff, celebrity culture etc and then post something relevant / relating to that hashtag or topic

- If it's a specific holiday maybe like Valentine's day.. You post something related with related hashtag like #valentinesday and people will find you on that day. It's good to keep a schedule of dates, specific holidays or festive dates that are yearly then you can plan ahead.

- There several popular re-curring hashtags that EVERYONE uses which are 'tradition' such as
- #throwbackthursday - old nostalgic memories or photos
- #motivationalmondays - motivational quotes, images etc etc
There are loads of others but I don't really know them

Or you could do what my friend did which was build an illegal script in Python that searched for specific tags and blacklisted others and auto-liked and comments on those photos. Hes got like 60K now because of it but he wont let me use it unless i pay him a subscription fee :/ tight *******!
