Hi,my situation is almost similar. I have a question, why do you want twitter followers? I'm hoping to build a following to market my business(es) to and make new friends along the way.

Unless you are a celebrity no one is going to just follow you randomly.
You can promote your Twitter account elsewhere and leave a message for them to follow you.
Use hashtags in your tweet to gather attention. Most people search using hashtags for relevant tweets to the topic they are interested in. If they find you through hashtags and find you regularly tweet about things that interest them then they will follow you.

I think twitter is a tough place to get exposure unless you are already known, recognizable and highly engaged on twitter. You might be better off with any other social media platform

A relatively quick way I have found to get followers is to write articles and submit them to relevant publishers and blogs in your niche. You can generally have a call to action to "follow", "retweet" or direct readers to social media links on your website. Also, include links in your email signature.

You mean writing articles on Twitter? Twitter allows only 160 characters as far as I know.

Perhaps the best is to write articles to post on your website or blog. Just add your Twitter account link. Many article directories and publishers will allow you to have a "resource box" or "bio" at the end of every article they publish.

Just include a call to action such as "Follow me on Twitter [link]". In addition, you should add your social media links to forums (such as the Warrior Forum) if that is your targeted audience.

Tweeting useful relevant information and following others works for me. I think you should establish your voice and not stray away from your core message. So if your tweeting about sports chances are you will attract sports fans .This is not to say that you wouldnt attract people with uncommon interest .It helps to tweet consistently and follow others with common interest to boost engagement.

I have to ask - if the only people who 'follow' you are doing it because YOU follow them....is there a point to that?

If so, I can't imagine what it is. People 'follow' on Twitter because someone has notoriety or celebrity or wealth....or they follow those they want to learn from or someone who agrees with the follower on world view or politics or religion or conspiracies.

Your tweets need to appeal to a specific audience just as a site or product does - that's something many people don't grasp. If you only tweet to promote your site or your product or your YouTube videos...that is quickly apparent to anyone reading your tweets. They follow if there is something in it for THEM.

Hi everybody! My question is similar as well but more related to Linkedin and Facebook. I have recently started my own Illustrations business (Tolk Talks Illustrations). It is a dream come true to work for myself, but it is also difficult to get myself out there.

When it comes to social media I am using Instagram, Facebook and Linkedin, but have the hardest time using the last two. On Linkedin I want to post business-related things on a weekly or monthly basis, but I don't know what content to share exactly to catch the eye of new people.

On Facebook I share things that can also be more informal at times, but I don't know how to reach a wider audience then the people in my environment. I used advertisements at times, but it seems to be not enough. Do hashtags work the same as they do for Instagram?

I appreciate all advice and/ or help!

Hello

One way that we have used Twitter is to target the followers of large Twitter accounts that are promoting the same or similar products/services that you are wanting to promote. Doing this you are laser focusing on your target market. You can find these audiences manually or by using software.

We havn't done this for a while now but we used software called tweetattackspro. It is likely to have been updated and still effective, just check with them to make sure, but we found it to be brilliant software.

Geez, I wouldn't be telling anyone what we did if we didn't have success with it. (unless I was saying don't do this)

We used it for affiliate marketing, in our case building subscribers to our free online magazines. (We use our own online flip page magazines for our affiliate marketing. We gave up things like review sites and promoting single products 8 or more years ago. Our magazines are like our own ponds, no other competition fishing in them and we can create relationships with our subscribers)

Our magazines cater to various interest groups, so we have used Twitter to promote "products" from dogs to online dating. We would look for accounts to target that had large numbers of followers. Some are in hundreds of thousands, some even in the millions.

I literally built an entire platform for this, so I can give you a few pointers here.

- Make sure your profile is complete. Profile picture, cover picture, description, everything

- Post a few tweets, so that your timeline looks fresh and updated.

- Find some influencers (or competitors) from an area that is of interest to you. Start following their followers. After some time, unfollow the people that are not following you back. This is known as the Follow/Unfollow strategy, there are several variations of it but this is my favourite one and I've found it to be the best.

- Engage with your newly acquired followers. Like and share their stuff, and comment on it if you can come up with something useful or fun.

- Post as much as you can. Twitter is a very loud platform, even 10 tweets an hour is not that bad, so get out there. Include images and 3-4 hashtags in your tweets.

Indeed, Follow/Unfollow strategy works to grow your followers base, but to have an engaging audience is a totally different thing. This is where I struggle. I got to nearly 300 followers but very rarely they would engage in what I tweet.

Despite what you may have been told, this strategy is not effective at all if you are trying to build an engaging audience. There are no shortcuts.

And do this on a daily basis. Like you, I don't really like Twitter. But I noticed that if I just make the effort to use it on a daily basis, I get more followers everyday. I still don't like Twitter but at least, it's not a completely worthless experience for me.

Hey Hossain I just discovered a way to gain followers just now and I thought of sharing it with you and with the warrior members.

Today while I was on twitter I stumbled upon a retweet that had 300 comments and many likes and share.

The tweet said ''I've seen how generous the #writingcommunity can be, so let's connect. Show your support, and lift your fellow #writers. Say hi and we'll all follow. Please do the same. Retweet this to spread the vibes #Amwriting"

I responded with a gif and said:
"hello everyone.... I follow back and never unfollow. I also want to support the writing community".

The result: more than 50 people followed me in less than an hour. And they still follow me. My notifications never stop.

You can visit these hashtags or find similar ones and respond to them. Try to find a hashtag in your niche for example #bloggingcommunity #gamingcommunity ect.

I've been on Twitter since 2009, and my follower count never exceeded 300 but my tweet count is close to 40k. Still the best way to gain lots and lots of followers is to have it endorsed by some public figure, or maybe get verified, increase your Twitter exposure. Something like that.

It took Enzo years to get those 300 followers and he's likely very proud of them, so don't go too hard with your questions.

These 300 followers must be very special and that's why I'm asking. I'm not razzing, I'm wanting to learn why I should be spending my time sending so many tweets to so few followers...there's gotta be something I'm missing!

It's my personal Twitter account and is set to private. Those 40k tweets have been around since 2009, mostly to rant about things.

I have used Manage Flitter in the past, and it has helped me get followers, you can search for a keyword and follow accounts in that domain, or you can follow your competitors followers, it's very powerful.

Many people see growing an audience on Twitter as a challenging process.

Here are the 6 steps that will help you to get twitter followers:

A lot of folks tend to over complicate social media sites like Twitter. The answer is simple since Twitter is a robust network now. Simply analyze popular Twitterers in your niche and breakdown what they're doing. You'll have to draw insights form this, but look at their posting frequency, which types of tweets generate the most interactions, and what they're doing outside of Twitter to gain influencers. For example, do they blog often, are they're a columnists at Huffington post, etc.

Then network, make new friends, engage with other profiles on a daily basis. Retweet. Follow relevant hashtags.
Tweet many times daily (but not all at once)
Optimise and schedule your tweet times
Ask lots of questions & do Twitter Polls
Run a Twitter content
Live-tweet an event
Use tools like Twiends.com that help you increase the number of your followers in a manner that doesn't violate Twitter's policies

Post your content with good hashtags. Folks on Twitter tend to like and follow people who post good and relevant content with those hashtags. Also, follow people related to your niche because alot of times they will follow you back. Grow your followers naturally is my best advice as well. Auto bots and programs that promise you a lot of followers may get your account banned or suspended.

If you happen to attend any live events (e.g. industry conferences), use the Twitter event hashtag to publish content before, during and after the event.

For instance, before the event, you can tweet about the speakers and sessions that you're excited about. You can even tag the speaker and try to form a connection. Then, during the event, you can provide highlights of the sessions you attended with video and images. Make sure to tag the speaker and conference organizer as well.

And for people whom you meet at the conference, connect with them on Twitter and start engaging with their content to form a connection.

The idea is to foster conversations and build relationships.

While following people hoping for a follow back, pay attention to their following numbers.
The people who have more following numbers than their follower counts are more likely to follow you back. So follow them and hope for a follow back.
I have gained more than 5k followers in the last 2 month with this strategy.

Twitter is such a difficult one to grow! It is hard also because you rely on likes and retweets (and hashtags) to be seen. A lot of viral tweets are either from celebs, trending tweets and someone who has posted something funny/clever etc. Its so hard unless you start off with your friends etc - however building a business vs personal is very different! I run our business profile and it is so hard to build!!
