Getting (free) Real World Practice

Hey guys and girls had a question...

I have been practicing my skills for a while now things like copywriting, traditional marketing, etc. and was thinking of getting real world experience. I'm working outside of internet marketing so don't need and am not desperate for money right now. But I also don't want customers in this field (internet marketing) right now because I don't feel I can give the right value to the customer. So don't want paying customers.

Here I'm hoping we can have some suggestions of places I can get this real experience from. Something that mimics real life. Or practice, that is real life.

Can I start an instagram account and facebook account etc. where I can practice social media marketing? What about copywriting? Can I somehow practice my copy while trying to sell a product or service? Geez, I'll even sell a fake product if I could get the practice ( and actually would like to but not sure how). Is there a way to implement Traditional Marketing ideas to see what works for real... and discover small details in between these marketing ideas???

I hope it shows I'm really passionate about all of this. I love marketing whether it's traditional or online marketing and want to get in "'the trenches". Right now I don't care about money, I'm covered, and with all this practice don't see burnout happening. Include many ideas, examples, ways of getting this done MANY MANY things.

Would love to see what you say

Possibly find a job at a company that does what you like to do?

On the opposite side of the spectrum, buy overstock for cheap (in bulk) and resell it.

Although you don't care about money, the income is a good measuring stick of your marketing abilities. It's cool you want free practice, but how will you measure your success? How will you know what you need to improve upon?

If you're making money online, you're marketing is good. Otherwise, you need to improve. So although you "don't care" about the money, change your perspective and see it as confirmation your marketing is good or not.

One example: Go to an affiliate marketing site. Find a product or service you feel you can get behind and run with it. Get your website, build an email list, promote your social media outlets, become an authority in that product's niche, build a blog, youtube channel etc and see how many conversions you can get for your product(s).

I agree with @palmtreelife . I don't see the point in practicing. Just put it into practice. If you want to get paying clients someday, it's best to present them with projects that are actually making you money, even if it's not something you're working on full-time. What potential clients will get from this is, "if this guy can make $XXX working part-time on how own projects, imagine how much money he'll make me working X hours per day".

You could sell items on eBay or Amazon. Its a great time for spring cleaning. You could get rid of unwanted items, earn some extra money and get your feet wet marketing. Sell your items and analyze what went well and what didn't.

If you want to grow your skills and to really test it out then you can look into this option:

Look into upwork, fiver or other similar sites and look for potential clients in there. Start being a VA and state that you have some ideas on certain fields of marketing. This is as real as it gets, plus this is also a learning groud for you. Best of luck!
