Which social media platform is more engaging?

So far I have used Twitter without much success. I post my work there trying to get more leads. I know ideal would be to have a presence on all platforms, but I don't have that amount of time on hands to commit to all of them. Just wondering which platform brings you more leads? Which platform have you found to be more active and engaging?

It totally depends on where your target audience is hanging out.

This implies that you need to do a lot of research and also see try to find out where influencers in your niche perform better.

You can't and you don't have to excel at all social media platforms.

When posting on social media it's important that you provide your followers with something that engages them or educates them on a topic within your niche, more often than you sell your services. This will help you gain more followers no matter which platform you use. Some social platforms are more suited to certain industries because they can present your work in a more fitting way. Also, keep in mind that there are age and demographic differences between the varying social platforms. Can I ask what industry you are in?

I am in graphic design and the target audience would be a big array of people. But I hear you, and I know a lot of designers use Behance and Deviant Art, but over there you'd find other designers, which would not be the ideal.

Hello, I think you should use Instagram for your designs. As per the experts, Instagram has the highest engagement rate. And on Instagram people like to explore new and unique things. So, with your great design, you can engage your targeted audience on Instagram.

Twitter has never been my first choice for generating leads. Consider other marketing options such as article syndication marketing (my favorite), building an email list with incentivized offers, some online/offline ads, or even start with good old school type marketing around your local area.

Social media, IMO, is more of an enhancement and supplement to be used in conjunction with other online/offline marketing channels. Its effectiveness is mostly for solidifying credibility and authority within your targeted marketing demographics, not as a sales platform. It is not uncommon for followers to "check you out" before buying.

Personally, the social media that I used and have found to be invaluable is Instagram. If you go over to Instagram you will see Instagram has given you a lot of functions and opportunity to grow your social presence. Incredibly, people on Instagram are very active and responsive.

I will say, you do need to put in the time and effort to engage with people. That is the reason why they call it SOCIAL media. You much be actively SOCIAL.

Nevertheless, I digress, with Instagram, you can follow people, people can follow you, you can submit videos and comments and those videos and comments can be liked and shared. On top of that if you can promote you post by paying for it to be promoted....and the best part is you can reach at least 2,000 people for only $10-$20.

    You can beat that!

    Hope that helped!

You can post photos on twitter with captions or you can just have 140 characters with no picture. Twitter is not designed for GRAPHIC designers as much as Instagram is for your niche. IG is all about the photos. You will find some big graphic designers sharing their work on IG. The platform with the highest engagement rate is also IG.

You don't need to be on all platforms, it's true, but for graphic design, I would be starting with IG instead of twitter.

Are you talking in general or specifically to graphic design? Promoted posts/ads in IG get a LOT more engagement. Good CTA's would be better, but even just a basic photo will garner a LOT more likes and usually many clicks. Proven.

I know you can do all kinds of graphic design jobs, but you'll be better off specializing... I mean, make yourself be perceived as the designer of choice of a particular type of business(es) or work (construction companies... or roofers, plumbers and electricians) or logos or book covers.

Then go on platforms where you can follow people in those businesses / who seem like they'd need that kind of work, some will follow you back... Also, contact such people directly.

Also, you'd be joining construction-related forums and making friends there.

Of course, platforms where people looking for design are good places, even if crowded. You'd need to position yourself better... Specializing would help..

If I had a roofing company, I'd be more inclined to buy my logo from someone who seems to get construction company owners than a generalist. So would most people.

You're making a good point, and I bet that on that roofing forum I'd be the only graphic designer, but the possible clients would be a very small number, where as if you cast a wider net you might get more fish, no?

In terms of writing type social media platforms, i like using reddit and quora. The engagement you get from those is ridiculous!

Well, there was this legendarily huge fish down by the lake that all the fishermen always talked about.

    Famed for its size.

    Famed for its reclusivity.

    Few people ever saw it.

And no one ever caught it.

No matter what tactics or bait the fishermen tried.

    Using the finest, tastiest bait.

Fishing the best locations. Where fish would always nibble.

    None of that stuff worked.

Until one day, a group of kids playing around the lake decided to try fishing with some hamburgers attached to their hook which they got at McDonalds.

    Guess what?

The legendary fish bit on the bait.

Turns out it loved hamburgers all along.

None of that icky, gooey worm stuff that all the other adults were using.

What does that have to do with social media?

All platforms are engaging and active. You just gotta use the right "bait".

And the "fish" differ on each platform. They want different stuff depending on where they're at.

Look at what the most successfully engaging accounts in your niche are doing on Twitter.

You'll get a look at what people on there in your market really want.

    Stuff like:

    - how often should you post
    - what topics make people go into a frenzy
    - how long should your posts be
    - what format posts attract more engagement

    And stuff like that...

You gotta adapt to each new environment.

I think YouTube is more powerful than Twitter.

When people are looking for something, a lot of times they will use YouTube instead of Google/Bing.

If you can make some short videos, it should help drive traffic.

You can use CamStudio to make vids doing screen capture off your desktop, if you don't want to actually be in the video.

If you want to appear in the vids, even a mobile phone will work.

However, as someone mentioned, it totally depends on your target audience. The absolute majority of instagram users are under 30 and most of them are female. It doesn't mean that you should advertise there if only your target audeince are young women, but if you are selling products for men above 40, you really should think twice. Good luck!

Facebook's Algorithm for ranking and displaying content on your News Feed is based on four factors:
    1. The Inventory of all posts available to display.

    2. Signals that tell Facebook what each post is.

Twitter is an online news and social networking site where people communicate in short messages called tweets.

The best way to gain a Twitter following is to simply engage with others. If you're regularly having conversations on Twitter with potential customers, partners, peers, and influencers, then you'll naturally begin to build your audience. Remember those hashtags and influencers you took note of earlier. It's time to start talking with them.

Here are Some Ways for Twitter Followers, that Helps You to Get More Followers on Twitter.

    1. Follow A Regular Tweeting Schedule.
    2. Include An Image In Every Tweet.
    3. Tweet Timely.
    4. Add A Location To Your Twitter Bio.
    5. A Good Profile Helps Get Followers.
    6. Use Hashtags Properly.
    7. Follow Relevant People.
    8. Engage With Others.

Like many people have said, it depends on your target audience and where they are most active.

For me it started many years ago during the early days of Twitter, then slowly moved over to Facebook. Then, for me, it splintered into a collection of social media platforms. All of which are engaged and active yet for various different reasons.

Any of them can be "more engaging". You just need to find out where your audience is and find them. Wherever that may be might just turn out to be the platform you spend most of your time.

If you are limited on your time then you might want to consider getting an extra pair of hands to help you out, a VA perhaps. I'm more active on IG (influencer marketing) and FB (facebook groups), these are the most engaging ones for me.

No platform brings you leads C, because Twitter is an inanimate object.

Here is the question you ask: "What hammer just hammers nails into a wall by itself, without me picking it up and learning how to use it and practicing hammering?"

Chat people up on Twitter. Speak to them buddy. Some speak to you in return. This is engagement you seek. From there, business can grow, but only with your active engagement.

If you do not have time and energy to succeed, you will fail. Guaranteed. But if you have the time and energy to succeed - by spending time and energy engaging people - you will succeed. Perfect mirror to you, social is.

Focus on your target audience and find out what social media accounts they're mostly active. It will give you an idea on where to participate with and bring more leads and engagement to your prospect customer. There's no need to engage with all the social media platform.

Well, it totally depends upon your target audience. All social networking sites are best and more engaging. To get more followers or generate more leads you need to post content regularly, need to communicate with your audiences. If you provide something unique and relevant to what users are searching for you will be able to gain more followers whether it is Facebook, Twitter or any social media sites.

So go ahead and good luck!!!
