Will Social Media Marketing be effective for my local Dental Clinic?

All my customers are locals within 5 miles / kilometers. And my business shows up on local Google listings of Dentist when searched within the area. But will Social media marketing (especially Facebook) be useful in case? What type of businesses gain from Facebook marketing?

I hope you will not turn clients away because their homes are more than 5 miles away. If you will not, then Facebook marketing will help you reach out to clients who are many miles away. Also, there are people in the neighborhood of your clinic who may not be aware of the services you offer. So, Facebook will help you to reach them.

Almost all types of businesses can gain from Facebook Marketing as long as they are within the terms of service that Facebook has. You could create a like page for your dental office and try to gain followers by posting relevant content like articles about dental healthcare, maybe specials and promotions that your office does, you could offer a free cleaning and evaluation to all new clients that have never been to your office before. Just a few suggestions.

Modern lives are going digital, and healthcare is no exception. Social networks have become an important health resource, and not just for millenials.

Given that nearly 90 percent of older adults and the younger ones do use social media to seek and share health information, marketing your Dental clinic in a social media platform will not only help broaden your horizon, but increase your capacity both online and offline as a whole lot of people will now get to no more about your dental services and where it is located.

I agree, the statistics for the percentage of older adults that are using smartphones and social media are rising steadily, I was actually surprised when I read them myself. Social Media advertising can help grow nearly ANY business at this point. The businesses that aren't using it are getting left behind.

Great that you have got your listing in Google but that is going to help people who are searching for a dentist.

Now when it comes to social media, you're reaching people who are 'not searching'.

You create awareness, interest and then come to you. So social media can definitely help you in getting those patients who aren't searching.

Social media presence would definitely help your presence especially as a lot of people are already online thru mobile. Would be good to get reviews as well with it.

Since your target is just your local community, I think Facebook is a good choice. Just keep in mind that you can also do a sponsored post that can just target the people near your clinic if that is really your plan. Make sure that you also invest in creating posters/photos that you will post in your account.

First check your web traffic in Google Analytics...

You said you already rank well in the local pack, so I would assume you are getting some traffic to the site that is looking for a local dentist in the area. If that's the case, you would be wasting a huge opportunity jumping straight into cold ads on Facebook.

Your budget would be better spent installing a Pixel on your site and then retargeting traffic that has already shown buyer interest within Facebook.

If you have the budget to retarget to that audience over a 2-3 week period, then you could either work to increase web traffic and bump up your retargeting budget in Facebook to match it, or proceed with a cold ad campaign in Facebook.

You might also want to consider putting a small amount of your overall budget into general brand awareness in the form of a Likes campaign. $30-40 per month is all I would devote to that though as it is more of a long-term play.

You could get creative with your audience targeting in the Likes campaign and consider going after people in a much wider geographic area that list their occupation as someone who would be a natural referral partner for you.

Example - You do periodontal work that other dentists who do not would normally refer that business to someone like you. So, you put a few dollars into a Likes campaign for that audience over a 90 day period.

All that stuff should come secondary to retargeting though. Google is providing you with people in your area who are looking to find a new dentist. Those people who do not convert on the first visit to your site are the perfect audience to start ads with in Facebook.

  • Having some social media presence can help in terms of making it easy for potential clients to find you or for customers to leave recommendations. But I think a local Google listing is more than enough, in terms of online marketing.

Definetely. There is no better way to market your services than through Facebook. as much as you have your clients within 5 Miles, there are people who are coming into your area and others leaving.
Those new comers will definetely need someone like you.
The best way they can find you is you being on facebook.

For dentists in general its more effective to run paid search ads for 80% of the budget and then the other 20% use retargeting ads via Facebook.

Definitely! Being on Facebook can increase your online presence effectively, especially if you consider making use of ads. It's actually where I found my chiropractor, through FB ads. Well, they had a clever way of getting my attention though.
