Game-changers in social media

We're in the height of social media influence use - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, among others.

We've talked about how to maximise social media for your business, and how any business practically won't thrive without social media presence. Here are two key game-changers in the social media sphere:

AI and bots

AI is already a game-changer, and can be found in many devices - wearable tech, smartphones, laptops, software, etc. Meanwhile, chatbots are already used in customer contact touchpoints - Facebook Messenger in particular - to act as the primary touchpoint to customers, both to lessen human interference, and to streamline operations.

Digital currency

Ever-increasing users and e-commerce transactions on social media platforms prompted social media platforms to introduce e-wallets. Facebook is already working on the albeit controversial Libra, while e-commerce websites like Shopee and Lazada have their own digital wallets.

What do you think?

  • In my opinion, AI and bots will be the main driver of change for social media. I expect that in the future a lot of the front-end interactions with customers on social media and otherwise will be driven by AI and bots. This will be much cheaper and more efficient than hiring a VA to manage your social media account on your behalf.

Personally, I don't see digital currency having such an impact on social media and the way people use it. I think the causality is much the other way - social media helped make digital currency popular.

AI and Bots still have a long way to go. I personally think we won't be seeing them for another 2-3 years in social media.

2-3 years is hideous. Have you ever encountered a chatbot on Facebook Messenger?

I agree that AI Chatbots are an advanced and exotic technology that can definitely change our world. And yes, I've used them on messenger as well as my eCommerce stores. But, AI still has a long way to go. I think it will be a while before we see some real 'game-changing' uses of AI in social media. It will take at least 2 years before we see comprehensive integration and utilization of AI in social media as well as other platforms.

It will take time but we will get there.

Anyone can create a digital currency these days. Not the best way to move forward I'd say.

A lotta talk about Crypto-Currency. and Cryptography overall. If the giant companies supported it, Digital Currency could be a game-changer, I'd guess.

Same for Deep Learning, AI those stuff are moving real fast. Wonder what tech would be bring.
