Ranking in Youtube with Backlinks

It helps, but it's really about the content of your video. You can do keyword research to determine the best video titles to use and well as YouTube searched for phrases. If you have a good number of followers on your Facebook page in your niche/subject or related subject, then posting there will get you a lot of views. I have hundreds of thousands of views on videos on a channel I put up when YouTube first started.

In my title I tend to use the main keyword and related keywords. I do the same for the description & tags. Put the videos in your blog and in your email marketing, send out a daily or weekly link to the blog post.

About a month ago I created a new channel and the view count on those 10 videos has been going up also. I've posted in social media a lot, but the videos get found organically also because the subject matter is not a huge subject with lots of competition. I notice if I go into a competitive niche then I get zero views, no matter how much optimisation I do.

Whose clients would find them useful (I am talking about website owners who are not direct competitors of yours.)?


Let's say your videos are about raising an autistic teenage daughter. What other types of subjects interest such mothers? I would look for websites that have anything to do with parent/child relationship; how to get your child to survive middle school, how to get your child to get better grades in school, clothes for teens, shoes for teens, music for teens, etc. and contact the owners and tell them you can provide them useful content for a mere link to one of your videos / website pages.


If your videos are worth anything, you will have takers.

You can use Channel Keywords ,Video Title ,Video Description ,Video Tags ,Video Quality and finally, never forget to offer informative, valuable and unique content to your audience that address their needs.

Hi, @Michael Harrington although I'm not a Youtube Expert yeah from ranking and optimization point of few I can give you a few suggestions that could be helpful.

First, of all, I would like to say Youtube is a perfect marketing tool reason being, it is the world's second most popular search engine as per JumpShot.

But as per your question, I want to inform you that unlike Google, YouTube does not use backlinks and other such signals to rate a piece of content. But the only signal they use is Audience Retention.

Seems like when you google internet marketing, seo, etc you see the same names and/or companies over and over again. I think its more about money than content. Some of the best content I have seen on YouTube in relation to internet and affiliate marketing has lesser views and are not found at the top of the search rankings for the specific keywords I search for.

I think when you have a lot of money for advertising your able to leap frog some of the better content out there.

Backlinks are not the basis to rank your video in youtube but the views and engagements from your interesting and beneficial video will most consider to present your content in youtube rankings or search results.

If you just focus on youtube content. Then 70% chances that your video will be automatically viral. if you just focus on keyword not on content then you cannot get success on youtube.

You do not need ANY backlinks whatsoever to rank anything on YouTube.

After that it's more about retention, watch time and engagement.

The above CAN and IS manipulated by many, but ranking #1 is vanity unless you can convert.

Also, paying for another person to rank is not worth it (not saying they cannot do the job) as again, many videos rank but do not convert and its obvious when a video as 400 likes and 300 comments all super positive for a KW that gets minimal search volume.

After uploading your video youtube will ask you to post your links to some of the social media. You just post it and if your content is good and if you can able get good quality views then it will slowly rank up.

Backlinks on youtube video could help you gain ranking in google but I doubt it does help in Youtube search engine.

As per my experience its the content of video, number of subscribers, likes, dislikes, comments that you have on the video will help ranking on Youtube.

When planning a new video to upload, remember that keyword research for your title, description and tags is a must.
If you have a new channel, target long tail keywords. I know everyone says that but many are still making the same mistake.

Make sure your main keyword is at the beginning of your video title, description and tags.
Add variations of your keyword in the description to also help rank for them.

Post once a day if you can. Comment and interact with other videos in the same niche of yours.

I am not an expert but I have not found backlinking is not of any value on Youtube. It's about doing your keyword research, quality description, and effective tags.

It was probably already mentioned in somebody's answer but I didnt go through all answers as I need to leave soon.

But I will just add that on top of all optimization, a good social proof will determine the rankings of your videos : view retention, like, share, comments ...

All other things being almost equal, the same video with better social proof stats WILL rank higher that's for sure.

You can promote your YouTube channel with backlinks.
You can go with these Organic:
1. Instagram - "Swipe Up" feature - this will help you to link your videos in "IG Stories" but there is a requirement you need to have 10K followers on your Instagram Account.
2. Facebook - Just like Instagram you can link your video link stories.
3. Snapchat - If you are newly created and you don't have many followers on your social media account then you can trie Snapchat for this app u=you don't need to have any followers requirement, you can directly add a link to your video.
4. Quora - Will does not give you that much traffic if you compare it with Instagram, but you can try Quora for some views.

Let me tell you my story first. I had searched for so many ways to make money online bu most of them were pretty much useless or not doable for a person like me. I finally decide to give youtube a try but with a smart approach, People are very interested inmusic if I am not worong. Everytime an artiste releases a song they are always looking for the lyrics. What I did was look for an upcoming artiste and monitor them . Any time they release a song I would make the lyric video and be the first to upload them. I did not need any special keywords. Simce I was the first allsearches were direxted to me. My acciunt grew and now I am earning through google adsense. I hope you have learnt something from this.

I have been in the youtube business for a while now and I am sure that it is not your keywords that matter only. There is a lot more to just having unique keyword for your video to be spotted. It is a matter of exactly what your video has. The content in your youtube chanel matters a lot. You ned to make videos of the things that people search for on youtube. You will not even need to have keywords if you make exactly what people are searching for. Ask peple what they lik looking for on youtube or do some research. If it something that you can do then you can make videos about them.

Youtube and google seem to respond more to titles and that are conversational.

I have tried Youtube many times and not succeeded.
Now after reading this thread, I know why.
