Ranking in Youtube with Backlinks

Hi All,
I have recently started marketing on Youtube, but it seems that you need a heap of backlinks to get high rankings.
I know how to optimize it with keywords etc, but what is the best way to go about getting good backlinks?
What methods are you guys using?
Is there Software available that does this?

Love to hear your thoughts on ranking in Youtube.

Cheers

It helps, but it's really about the content of your video. You can do keyword research to determine the best video titles to use and well as YouTube searched for phrases. If you have a good number of followers on your Facebook page in your niche/subject or related subject, then posting there will get you a lot of views. I have hundreds of thousands of views on videos on a channel I put up when YouTube first started.

In my title I tend to use the main keyword and related keywords. I do the same for the description & tags. Put the videos in your blog and in your email marketing, send out a daily or weekly link to the blog post.

About a month ago I created a new channel and the view count on those 10 videos has been going up also. I've posted in social media a lot, but the videos get found organically also because the subject matter is not a huge subject with lots of competition. I notice if I go into a competitive niche then I get zero views, no matter how much optimisation I do.

    What are your videos about?
Whose clients would find them useful (I am talking about website owners who are not direct competitors of yours.)?

Let's say your videos are about raising an autistic teenage daughter. What other types of subjects interest such mothers? I would look for websites that have anything to do with parent/child relationship; how to get your child to survive middle school, how to get your child to get better grades in school, clothes for teens, shoes for teens, music for teens, etc. and contact the owners and tell them you can provide them useful content for a mere link to one of your videos / website pages.

If your videos are worth anything, you will have takers.

If you can use all these methods and can not rank. Simply Get the views and rank your video. just run the ads on Youtube get the views and boom your video.

Hi, @Michael Harrington although I'm not a Youtube Expert yeah from ranking and optimization point of few I can give you a few suggestions that could be helpful.

First, of all, I would like to say Youtube is a perfect marketing tool reason being, it is the world's second most popular search engine as per JumpShot.

But as per your question, I want to inform you that unlike Google, YouTube does not use backlinks and other such signals to rate a piece of content. But the only signal they use is Audience Retention.

Youtube optimization for ranking the videos and increasing those numbers for views and subscriptions can be achieved by the help of following steps:
    #1 Keyword Research
Yes, whether it is Youtube or Google potential keywords play an important role in making your content rank. Our first approach as a YouTuber should be to find a list of keywords that relate to our media content.

Video search queries can be done in the following ways (if there are any other steps you know please tell me):

    Youtube Autocomplete
Everyone is aware of this as it has been a dedicated feature in the search year for decades. But many do not observe it as a perfect tool for generating keywords that could make your content rank on top.

You can also check and create a list of keywords by analyzing your competitors' keywords. Follow these simple steps:
    • Go to your competitors
    • Click on the video section
    • Select the most popular category
    • Analyze the first few videos for title and description.

You can also check the tags of your competitor with the help of your HTML page of your competitors' page.

If you are looking for a keyword tool, I came across this tool that could be helpful.
    Keyword Tool ->> vidiq

    #2 Adding Perfect Keywords
Now is the time of adding keywords that could be best suited for your video content. The keywords should be low in competition but still, have a good search volume.

You can take the help of the Google's about section which is seen just below the search bar under all section:

Try placing different keywords from your keyword list and select those for which this number is not too high.
#3 Create Videos for Good Audience retention
As I have said earlier, Audience retention is the only ranking factor for YouTube so here is where you lay your main focus

Here are 3 simple tips for increasing video retention:
    • Start Your video by giving a brief summary or introduction. It is all about defining the goal of making the video to your audience.
    • Instead of talking things here and there just jump into the right content.
    • Try adding open loops in your video that can make the viewers curious and make them engage.

Seems like when you google internet marketing, seo, etc you see the same names and/or companies over and over again. I think its more about money than content. Some of the best content I have seen on YouTube in relation to internet and affiliate marketing has lesser views and are not found at the top of the search rankings for the specific keywords I search for.

I think when you have a lot of money for advertising your able to leap frog some of the better content out there.

Backlinks are not the basis to rank your video in youtube but the views and engagements from your interesting and beneficial video will most consider to present your content in youtube rankings or search results.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[11562587].message }}
    • This is not totally true. While views and engagements are a part of it, backlinks make a BIG difference. Both for ranking AND for driving views to the video to begin with. Youtube sees when you bring people to their platform and reward it.

For instance, this video was shared by a large blog in my industry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPv505BDD7I

I went from 2k subs and struggling to like 10k subs in a couple weeks - All because a BACKLINK sent people to the video. As a result, youtube started ranking the video #1 for that keyword.

Not all backlinks are equal, and it's not the only secret to showing up in search, but it's still important enough to pay attention to. Without backlinks, my channel never would have taken off.

In order to rank YouTube videos, you need a combination of high quality backlinks AND user experience signals, such as Likes, Comments, Channel Subscribers, Long Retention Views etc. You can also embed YouTube videos in Web 2.0s to get them ranking higher.

I paid Chris from vidsociety to rank my video... I don't know any of the software that claim to rank you on page 1 every time work. None of the ones I have tried have done that. Some say there is a preference for livestreaming or live events like a premiere. I have heard people buy backlinks or syndication from places like fiverr or seoclerks...

If you just focus on youtube content. Then 70% chances that your video will be automatically viral. if you just focus on keyword not on content then you cannot get success on youtube.

You do not need ANY backlinks whatsoever to rank anything on YouTube.

More important factors are click through rate. To get that you'll need an intriguing title and eye catching thumbnail.

After that it's more about retention, watch time and engagement.

Zero softwares are needed and the ones that are for sale just prey on the newbies.

The above CAN and IS manipulated by many, but ranking #1 is vanity unless you can convert.

Also, paying for another person to rank is not worth it (not saying they cannot do the job) as again, many videos rank but do not convert and its obvious when a video as 400 likes and 300 comments all super positive for a KW that gets minimal search volume.

After uploading your video youtube will ask you to post your links to some of the social media. You just post it and if your content is good and if you can able get good quality views then it will slowly rank up.

Backlinks on youtube video could help you gain ranking in google but I doubt it does help in Youtube search engine.

As per my experience its the content of video, number of subscribers, likes, dislikes, comments that you have on the video will help ranking on Youtube.

    Yes backlinks are important.

When planning a new video to upload, remember that keyword research for your title, description and tags is a must.
If you have a new channel, target long tail keywords. I know everyone says that but many are still making the same mistake.

Make sure your main keyword is at the beginning of your video title, description and tags.
Add variations of your keyword in the description to also help rank for them.

Post once a day if you can. Comment and interact with other videos in the same niche of yours.

And don't forget to upload quality videos

That's an important part of the optimization process but not enough alone to rank.

Well, I say that but 'most' of my videos rank on YT and my description is a line or two.

CTR is 90% of the battle. But you need to get that the right way. Not by bots, fiverr etc

Then it's engagement and watch or retention time.

It was probably already mentioned in somebody's answer but I didnt go through all answers as I need to leave soon.

But I will just add that on top of all optimization, a good social proof will determine the rankings of your videos : view retention, like, share, comments ...

All other things being almost equal, the same video with better social proof stats WILL rank higher that's for sure.

You can promote your YouTube channel with backlinks.
You can go with these Organic:
    1. Instagram - "Swipe Up" feature - this will help you to link your videos in "IG Stories" but there is a requirement you need to have 10K followers on your Instagram Account.
    2. Facebook - Just like Instagram you can link your video link stories.
    3. Snapchat - If you are newly created and you don't have many followers on your social media account then you can trie Snapchat for this app u=you don't need to have any followers requirement, you can directly add a link to your video.
    4. Quora - Will does not give you that much traffic if you compare it with Instagram, but you can try Quora for some views.

If you are looking to make money on YouTube then you should know that you need to spend some cash from your pocket too just like every big change on YouTube.
I don't say every big YouTuber buys YouTube Services for likes, views, comments, etc but most of them do use these types of services.

If you are asking me for YouTube Services you can try Elance Market. If you are new then they have some managed services where you will get a manager that will manage your campaign.

    ThankYou!!

There are ways to get backlinks that help with your rankings. Using a tool like TubeBuddy you can find the competition of different keywords and searches monthly.

Then create a title with that exact keyword, use relevant keywords and make sure your video is longer than 6 minutes. We use a scrolling agenda on the left-hand side to keep the viewers staying on the video (retention rate).

What we've done that is unique is we have our videos created into a podcast - We use a tool that puts it on all of the networks.

From this we get high DA links from major sites. We then put it into Twitter (indexed) and GMB (indexed).

Lastly we'll run Discovery Ads to get a lot of views fast.

We're ranking #2 for big keywords - links matter and that is proof.

Let me tell you my story first. I had searched for so many ways to make money online bu most of them were pretty much useless or not doable for a person like me. I finally decide to give youtube a try but with a smart approach, People are very interested inmusic if I am not worong. Everytime an artiste releases a song they are always looking for the lyrics. What I did was look for an upcoming artiste and monitor them . Any time they release a song I would make the lyric video and be the first to upload them. I did not need any special keywords. Simce I was the first allsearches were direxted to me. My acciunt grew and now I am earning through google adsense. I hope you have learnt something from this.

I have been in the youtube business for a while now and I am sure that it is not your keywords that matter only. There is a lot more to just having unique keyword for your video to be spotted. It is a matter of exactly what your video has. The content in your youtube chanel matters a lot. You ned to make videos of the things that people search for on youtube. You will not even need to have keywords if you make exactly what people are searching for. Ask peple what they lik looking for on youtube or do some research. If it something that you can do then you can make videos about them.
