Twitter engineer Nolan O'Brien announced in a tweet today that "Twitter will preserve JPEGs as they are encoded" when users upload on Twitter for Web.

Twitter, however, will still transcode and compress image thumbnails for faster News Feed load times, and clicking on the image will show the full, uncompressed version. Furthermore, Twitter will remove all EXIF data.

I have often noticed lossy compressed images on Twitter.

Thanks for sharing--didn't Twitter also update their privacy/user policies? Every since the new COPPA rules on youtube have come out, seems like most the major social media platforms are doing the same. We're having to do the same on our Health/Wellness blog.
