A new article on Social Media Today reports that Facebook and Coursera have combined to produce an online course for professional digital marketers. It aims to fill a gap in digital skills within the industry as the need for qualified folks increases.

Facebook says that the Professional Certificate Program can be completed at your own pace and consists of 100 hours of hands-on training:

"The Professional Certificate program is self-paced and designed to be completed within 20 weeks, which includes 100 hours of hands-on, project-based training in applied social media tools and general marketing skills. After completing the program, learners will receive an industry-recognized certificate that they can use to apply for entry-level social media marketing roles."
When you sign up, you'll complete modules that entail building and running campaigns. There's a strong focus on under-represented groups that Facebook says often get overlooked when it comes to recruitment for roles that need digital skills.

"After completing the certificate, learners will be able to share their information with a consortium of employers who have committed to sourcing diverse talent, including Havas Worldwide, L'ange Hair, Snow Teeth Whitening, Ruggable, Freelancer, and of course, Facebook."

You also get a badge to display on your web profiles. If you're looking to increase your digital skills, Facebook and Coursera's new course will provide an opportunity to work toward what is likely to end up being an industry-recognized qualification. Even if you're looking to finely hone the skills you've already got and you're relatively experienced, it could be an option. The digital landscape is always changing. There are many aspects of digital marketing to consider, reconsider, and stay on top of - all the time.

Cool. I wish FB went even further with this and, like Google (https://entrepreneurshandbook.co/goo...s-340f459aaa9b), use it as a building block of their own company's hiring process

It's certainly, a good idea. But my worry is IM is changing each day. It is possible to spent money and time to learn things that will not help you in tomorrows Internet marketing field.
