A Social Platform Built for Good?

A new article on Search Engine Journal asks if a new social media platform help users in a way that no other platform does? The author also wonders if the likes of LinkedIn and Twitter be worried, and if ChekMarc will make social media giants quake in their boots?

The writer here says that LinkedIn dominates the job-seeking side of social, Twitter the more casual business aspects, and Facebook seeks to connect friends and family. Now, ChekMarc is targeting individuals looking to upskill and progress in their careers or learn more about personal hobbies. The new platform has already negotiated a $3 million seed fund and is available worldwide in 35 different languages. So, what is ChekMarc?

The author says ChekMarc is LinkedIn combined with Facebook and The Open University. It professes to:

"Build impactful connections that unite humanity."
Workers struggling to convince their employers to invest in further training can gain free one-to-one advice on how to upskill using CheKMarc. Companies can't advertise with the platform taking the view that time, experience, and knowledge should be the platform's focal point, not monetary gains.Users can be explorers, catalysts, or both.

Explorers

Explorers are people looking for career or personal guidance. If someone within the community wants to, they can reach out and connect. When looking for guidance and assistance, Explorers must complete a form that specifies:
  • What topic they are exploring.
  • The category their question falls under.
  • The time-frame they are hoping to receive an answer.
  • The option to add a hashtag or offer additional information.
  • The choice to include an image or video.
  • Any specific Catalysts they want to invite to the post.

Catalysts

Catalysts have knowledge and experience they wish to share. They can search for requests from users and respond. Categories include:
  • Professional
  • Art/Music/Entertainment
  • Education
  • Fitness
  • Social Causes
  • Hobbies
  • Home/Real Estate
  • Health
  • Personal Matters

Yeah I find Reddit more useful to me. I'm just on Facebook for the memes.

Yes. Social media platforms are of great importance because most of the audience hangs out on this platform. Both LinkedIn and Facebook are beneficial because a run single-run campaign using marketing automation tools can help your reach millions of prospects in one-go.

Honestly, Facebook and twitter is super useful for me.

In any social media, likes and followers doesn't matter unless it is engaging your audiences. For me, Facebook and pinterest works best for me, as my content create good value there.

I must admit, i never heard of ChekMarc before.

Recently more and more people use Social media in general to build their business. During the time techniques have developed for that purpose.

More knowdlege people have about building business, better their business is. Personally is my best platform for business Facebook.

Sounds like a great idea. The challenge with building something like this, is to attract the initial users, especially since you have a buyer/seller perspective. Sellers won't sign up unless buyers are there, and vice-versa. But definitely something interesting to keep tap op.
