Monetizing fans on social media

I was researching how people earn money on TikTok. Mostly it's brand deals or selling merch. I couldn't find any direct way of monetizing fans.

I asked few influencers about how do they monetize their fans directly, answer was that they don't do that. So I took some time to find out how they can monetize their fans directly:
- Cameo - creating personalizing videos
- Patreon - donation platform
- OnlyFans - ok mostly for adults, but still can be used for premium content

There could be other ways like: DM with influencer and pay for it, request some stunt from influencer and pay for it and so on. I was reading about how TIkTok influencers go live and ask their fans to send them virtual gifts. Those gifts need to be bought by fans and then later on influencers can convert gifts to money. Basically influencers are exploiting their fans.

What do you think, what are the best ways for TikTok influencers (those are mostly kids) to monetize their fans.

    yeah - increasingly, seems like the "creator economy" mandates that creators are able to directly monetize their fan bases (a good thing imo). The platforms you mentioned above offer this - as, of course, do YouTube and Twitch (some ad rev, tips, etc) - along with new, buzzy ones like Clubhouse. For TikTok specifically, like you said, in addition to selling merch, campaign work (agencies like Fanbytes facilitate this), and the rest of the 'usual suspects,' creators with a big enough following (1k+) can earn "Coins" during a live broadcast that are redeemable via PayPal (as "Diamonds"), TikTok takes its cut, of course, but the ease of creation there, the size of its user base, and the meritocracy of its algo certainly makes it a tantalizing proposition for young creators..

      Why do you think so? Many teens do have various payments app on their phones. They cannot pay a lot, but can $5-10

    I always wonder how people monetize tiktok as a social media platform. It is not a platform you can make money as a online marketer, it is better you focus on other platforms like facebook, instagram and twitter e.t.c.

      THere is no difference, they are the same. TikTok is more hype right now
