Meta showcases new AI system that uses strategic reasoning

I just read an article and I have a question.......

Is it just me or are some of these latest AI developments starting to freak other people here out a little bit?

Meta AI presents CICERO -- the first AI to achieve human-level performance in Diplomacy, a strategy game which requires building trust, negotiating and cooperating with multiple players.

In amongst the various visual AI generator tools, which can create entirely new artworks based on simple text prompts, and advancing text AI generators, that can write credible (sometimes) articles based on a range of web-sourced inputs, there are some concerning trends that we're seeing, both from a legal and ethical standpoint, which our current laws and structures are simply not built to deal with.

Is AI development accelerating faster than is feasible to manage?</p>

AI systems that can think independently and influence real people's behavior. Sound good?

Any concerns?

  • So fun fact for anyone who didn't know - Marcus Tullius Cicero was a Roman statesman, lawyer, scholar, philosopher, and academic skeptic, who tried to uphold optimate principles during the political crises that led to the establishment of the Roman Empire.

"AI systems that can think independently and influence real people's behavior. Sound good?" - Like almost anything is this world, AI can be used for positive or negative purposes within humanity. There was no stopping this AI train, its creation and development were always imminent. For one, Hollywood has been revealing that to us for many decades now in countless movies. Only the construct of time will show us the outcome of the relationship between humans and AI in all of its manifestations.
