Snapchat gets flak for rolling out 'My AI'
As you might know, Snapchat announced its 'My AI' GPT-powered chatbot during their annual Partner Summit. The chatbot would be rolled out to all users after being initially a Snapchat+ subscriber-only feature.
Evidently, people hate it. According to TechCrunch:
"Over the past week, Snapchat's average US App Store review was 1.67, with 75% of reviews being one-star, according to data from app intelligence firm Sensor Tower. For comparison, across Q1 2023, the Snapchat average U.S. App Store review was 3.05, with only 35% of reviews being one-star." |
The thing here is, people want to use messaging apps for messaging, not anything else. So Snapchat might have deserved the flak they're getting for this. Ads in message streams are intrusive, and that defeats the purpose of private messaging.
Chime in.
