Whats the best strategy to grow your twitter followers base?

If you are still calling the acct 'twitter' I'd say you are way behind.

You're not sure if that's a good number?

Are you making any money, or could you make some money
from those 1K followers if you needed to?

Are you currently engaged, or are those followers stale?

What is the purpose of the account? What are you selling?

Those are questions you need to ask yourself about your
X/Twitter (I don't understand the point of changing the name
to X when the messages are still being called tweets, but
whatever).

If it has taken you years to achieve that number of followers
has that been with consistent effort or do you post on there
every once in awhile.

I would think that the way to get more followers is by posting
more often, following others, etc.

There are entire books about marketing on Twitter, there's
one titled "Twitter Marketing for Dummies," I would tell you
what it says, but that would probably be a copyright violation.

Read some books, learn about marketing, post more often,
use other social media besides just that one platform, use
various strategies, have something interesting to offer, and
you might be able to increase your following and whatever
it is you are trying to do.

Also, ChatGPT can write tweets for you as well as provide
you with strategies, content, research, etc. so don't sleep
on that.

I think that you have something there that you could build
upon but if the whole thing is dead in the water, now is a
good time to do something different.

What did you do to get those 1K followers? Did you just keep posting content? If yes, unfortunately, it wouldn't suffice. Most of them just post content and then don't respond to comments. You must respond to each and every comment. Apart from this, you should retweet posts that are relevant to your content and also leave comments, and share what you feel about it.
