Unfortunately we won't get a 'Following' feed option on IG

About 50% of the content that Instagram shows on the newsfeed is AI-based recommendation. And that's what Instagram's gonna be about for the foreseeable future.

Instagram chief Adam Mosseri has this to say:

"Of course we've thought about it, and we've tested it and tried it a number of times. Every time we have, there's a sub-group of people who are happy, there's a bunch of people who forget that they're in it, and then overall, everybody who's in it uses Instagram less and less over time, and when we ask them questions like "how satisfied are you with Instagram?", they actually report being less happy with Instagram more and more over time, on average. And then there's these second order effects where their friends start using Instagram less [and] because they use it less, they send less likes and comments, messages, and then there's all of this other stuff, and it just gets worse and worse, and quickly."
This logic comes from TiKTok, which has always emphasized highlighting entertaining app content the algorithm deems it relevant.

Chime in.

Whether or not the recommendations are AI based or determined by humans my philosophy remains the same .

Create and produce unique engaging valuable content and your content will be recommended.

Don't focus on the algorithm too much but focus on producing quality content and more importantly having fun producing content ..

We aren't going to defeat the algorithm but we can still reach and connect with our targeted audiences

Quality content will always be valued, regardless of algorithms.

Instagram ought to seriously think about adding a 'Following' feed feature. Many users were expecting for a means to bypass the system and view posts from accounts they regularly follow. The user connection and engagement would have increased with this change. Fm Whatsapp

Tiktok and Instagram cannot be compared at the moment. Tiktok is much better than Instagram in every way and worse, Instagram is very clumsy in this regard. Thanks for the news.

It is interesting to see Instagram shifting towards AI-driven recommendations, but it raises concerns about user satisfaction and engagement.

A.I. is the evolution even though it's not so good right now. In the near future A.I. will choose TV shows and movies for us etc etc.
