Does Social Media Marketing Work?

SOCIAL NETWORKS

I have been involved with social media marketing for quite some time now and I was wondering what some of your experiences with it are?

I know that the concentration of this forum is on conversion rates, so do any of you see decent conversions from social media outlets and traffic?

For example Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and now the new Google +?
How many fans, followers +1s, views, subscribers etc. do you have and how often do you market to them?
How do you market to them? What percentage is sales messages and other messages?

I think it all depends mainly on your audience. First of all, are they targeted people that have a genuine interest in your product or service? It also depends a lot on how you manage your social media accounts. If you spend a lot of time and efforts building up your social media audience, but don't market to them properly, then you are just wasting your time.

It is important to deliver a quality message to your following without becoming obtrusive and annoying like so many accounts become.

So to really take advantage of your social media audience, be sure to deliver a clear and concise message that most importantly converts!

For me You tube marketing and Twitter marketing are my main focus...I have just recently began to market on face book...You tube marketing can be very effective since many people learn by seeing...My conversions through You tube are very high...Twitter is a little bit slower for me since it takes a little while to build a following but I have still been successful with Twitter...Believe it or not You tube is my social media of choice and will continue to be until I figure out the ins and outs of face book!

i get most of my traffic from facebook so yeah i have to say its a great way to get sign ups and views

I agree with you on Twitter, I think it is probably my least effective. I have had the most benefit in the search engines from Google +1s, and the most benefit in traffic from Facebook. I have not marketed much on YouTube but am going to be concentrating on that in the near future.

Facebook is currently the most effective for me as well, as far as conversions and traffic go.

  I don't know about a software to do this with, and most will only get you fake or bot fans, or your account banned all together.
  
  There is one service I know of that delivers real and opt-in fans, followers, +1s etc. and it is Bulk Social Media.

  It's great for some traffic for certain. I think internet marketing or any business for that matter depends on what you do about your products or services. It's hard work, you need some good techniques, there are a lot of processes to take care of in IMHO.

Social media marketing does work to some extent, but I wouldn't rely on it alone. Only so much can be done on it that you should probably do all kind of things to make your site work and get traffic.

I get several optins a day from Facebook. Facebook ads are so cheap when you get them niche targeted. Every ad campaign I've done on Facebook has been profitable (except the stupid one I did for a video gaming niche with 80% age 13-17)

Social media marketing is another tool in the bag. Using it exclusively can hurt you in the long run. All it takes is one or two small changes and your only traffic source could be gone over night. That goes for using anything exclusively to drive traffic. It's best to have a variety or sources.

For me I've had the most luck with facebook. Twitter hasn't ever really done anything for me. I heard it was huge some time ago for getting good traffic but now its hard to get followers who aren't just trying to get you to follow them. Of course if you've already got some good branding going on twitter would be more useful. Youtube has worked alright for me. I haven't used it a whole lot so I couldn't tell you how good it is compared to facebook, but what little I tried got some results.

Social media marketing is a great source to get traffic. Actually, I think it's a little better than SEO. Facebook, Youtube and Twitter are three main sources for my SMM traffic. Among three sites, no matter for FB post, titter or video, the key is to generate good content to attract more fans, followers and subscribers.

  YouTube works for me. I've used Twitter to generate sales to lesser effect. I'm still yet to explore the potential of FaceBook. I personally can't stand it but it's a tool to be used!

I recently wrote a post about some social media marketing tools I use to create traffic and backlinks. You can find it on My Multiple Incomes in my signature.

Also, don't forget searchable social media - Reddit, Tumblr, etc. I get a lot of traffic from past posts because people are finding it in search. These visitors also tend to convert onto my lists.

I agree that they all are useful for traffic and conversions. It takes some time to build up your audience, but once you do it is a great place to market your business.

Personally I prefer to use social media for local businesses, their the ones that really need it and it can be a powerful tool for helping them weather this recession. It also provides an enterprising internet marketer with an almost limitless supply of potential clients.

Setting it up is also extremely easy.
