Pinterest - is it really good for business?

Hi,

I have heard about this social media for several months but never paid attention to it. Until recently I got a recommendation from someone I trusted, he had repeated about this many times in his email so this make me started to interest and have studied a course he recommended.

Anyway I would like to know from the experienced master here if it's still good as it have made sound to be?

Can we really make a decent profits from pinterest?

What is the best strategy to use it for affiliate? I asked this because there's still confusion about if we should pin direct affiliate link or pin the products that have been posted on our own website first.
I would like to see a good sample of this kind of website? Should it be the gallery style, ecommerce or just normal blog?

Thanks in advance for your opinion.

Yes indeed. If you have a product that is very visual and geared towards Pinterest users (something like cute purses or new ladies boots) then Pinterest can drive converting traffic.

But if you're just sending them to a page and then hoping they'll click again and then go to another website and make an order, you have your work cut out for you.

I'd be interested to hear what kind of results people are having with Pinterest, I've heard so much about it recently, but haven't used it myself, or looked into it in much detail.

Anyone out there making money with Pinterest? (Other than the owners of course )

Yes, most claims are from the course owners and the worst is we never know the truth until we try it and find it 's fail.

That's like unfortunately. Sometimes you just have to take a small risk on things, it could pay off or it might end horribly. Trial and error.

    Hello,

Pinterest is another social media, based on sharing picture. if you understand how social media work and how you can profit from them, then you can market on pinterest and earn some money. like other social media it's a tool that will help you to market your business if you know how.

That's the KEY point though. "it's a tool that will help you to market your business if you know how."
Understand if you're planning on creating a business for the sole purpose of trying to get traffic from Pinterest, then chances are not good that you will succeed. Not saying you WON'T succeed, but your chances aren't good.

Work on building your business, doing affiliate or product selling or whatever... use Pinterest as a tool to drive more traffic, but DON'T RELY ON IT TO DRIVE TRAFFIC.

That's what I would like to see, sample site for pinterest. Even the course author can't let me see that, she told me her sites are at various stages of research/development, so she cannot provide a link. It seems we always be tempted to buy just theory.

      Erm.... yeah...

I think it's good to. Because I can also pin my videos and get a backlink from a site with a page rank of 8, which helps my channel and websites move up the serps and get better rankings.

It's useful for some things I guess.

ok I'm going to be honest here.

my first thought was that pinterest was telling me that the world was reaching the highest level of idocracy lolol.

lately though my instincts kicked in giving me the details of why my original thoughts were incorrect

I have observed that people love video and pictures. A picture is indeed worth a billion words. One thing we need to remember with any business is that we are selling ourselves or our image or both. Also, keep in mind that many major corps are trying to figure how they can hang with regular people.

Now here is what I come up with.
If you can fit your business image into one pic then you can profit by it.

Even if your business is not directly related to that pic you improve your image, and make friends.

Remember I have always said the basic element of selling is making a friend. When you can make that friend then you build trust and when you build trust then you can sell.

Don't get me wrong though lol. If your idea of IM is sending someone to your squeeze page you are going to have problems. If however you are promoting yourself or your company then you have more than a squeeze or sales page to send people too.

I totally agree! People are waaaaay more visual these days. Pictures and videos are great tools to attract people to click and see. Let's be honest, the human race is getting lazier and lazier! lol. So videos and pictures help to feed the laziness and still deliver what you intended.

Pinterest will only gain you traffic if the images placed on there are worth peoples time and attention. So if you use Pinterest for your business, make sure the images make sense or grabs your followers the right way.

Yes Pinterest can drive revenue. To figure it out I asked my wife who is a shopper.....geez aren't they all? She said she loves Pinterest to see new styles, get ideas and to shop. The pinterest pins can link back to any site (ecommerce related if you desire). If they liked it enough to click through and find out more have a friction free funnel and let them go ahead and buy.

Typically the Pinterest sites that do the best are the ones with the most likes, repins and pinboards created by authors with lots of followers.

Pinterest is now the #4 source of traffic on the internet and it seems to work best with pages that have pretty pictures. Pinterest is more female oriented.

I highly recommend that you also create youtube videos that link back to your website, as that is a good source of targeted traffic too.

I'm a big fan of pinterest and over the last few months I've had a traffic spike coming from there.

I don't think that I can attribute any sales from pinterest but you can definitely get a lot of people to your blog/site by posting some killer pics.

I used to suck at gathering followers, repins, or favorites at Pinterest. Then, I stopped trying to pin photos that were directly related to what the account was offering. For example: Yellow triangles.

Instead of pinning all the different shapes and sizes of yellow triangles, I decided to just have fun with the account and create boards for fun stuff, that may or may not be related to yellow triangles. I made a board for the best looking rectangles. I let the pins link back to the original source. I created a board filled with circles pretending to be triangles. I may have it, When A Circle Is A Triangle.

I spent several hours having fun, googling images, and repinning. My results were amazing. I didn't follow a single person, yet somehow I get e-mails every 15 or 30 minutes from this account letting me know about a repin or new follower. People are going to the Yellow Triangle board, which isn't nearly as interesting, and clicking over on stuff. When I upload new yellow triangles, I have gathered so much more interest.

A tiny bonus? I am providing some boards of excellent value to the Pinterest community and they are low maintenance.

I stopped trying so hard for clicks, had fun with the subject material, and tried to provide interesting collections of triangles. To answer the original question, the profits made from Pinterest were well worth the time invested.

I received 2 new followers and 8 repins while typing this.

Pinterest can be used for traffic. But you have to be creative and make sure you know who uses pinterest and what you are looking for, some of my pins go viral and I get like 200-500 visits from it in the moment of being on front page. It goes to an adsense site so it's not making alot but still pretty good from 1 pin.

General consensus is that Pinterest is social network mostly used by female users... I've read some pretty highly successful posts by users who understand this and then applying a marketing strategy to leverage this fact.

Indeed, there are pins with huge number of repins, creating a viral effect within pinterest and also possibly driving traffic to the website from which the picture was pinned. And of course, they are the most popular pins. If your business fits in one of these boards, chances are that you 're going to take advantage and get some traffic.

I think it is a matter of tracking your pins in order to see the amount of traffic you are getting back to your website or blog.

Social media is going hands in hands with SEO these days.and Pinterest is producing traffic pretty close to what facebook and twitter bring. Having said that Pinterest works for businesses that are 'images intensive',it might not work for loan/finance site but will work beautifully for a home made cakes site! Pinterest may be a good source of followers but driving traffic from Pinterest to your account seemed not a good idea. The problem in Pinterest is that traffic only stays in Pinterest. So if you are using this to increase traffic to your site, it'll be just a waste of time.

I think that Pinterest is a good site for marketing but only if you plan to market your business in Pinterest. Also, as what others said, Pinterest is about good graphics and not all business are designed to be like this.

Pinterest may be an excellent resource of supporters but getting visitors or visitors from Pinterest to your consideration seemed not a wise decision. Social Media has a big role to play if you are serious about your online business. If the Social Media campaigns are handled with proper planning and strategy then it can pay back in the long term. The trick is to create a great campaign and play it smart. Pinterest is a social network which gives you opprtunity to get lots of traffic by providing attractive, unique images. It fits into the category of "visual bookmarking." Like Tumblr, the service uses a browser bookmarklet, which makes it easy to post things from around the Interwebs. Pinterest's user interface is that it lets you "pin" any photo from the Internet to a "board" on its site. Pinterest is a bookmarking site organized around the idea of pinboards.

It helps you to get more traffic to your site by social media optmization.

Pinterest is a goldmine, if you know what you're doing. It's not useless. It doesn't suck. You just haven't pushed the right buttons yet.
Key to getting traffic from pinterest is having access to boards that have a lot of followers. Those people are all real and they are happy to repin your pins. The more repins, the more viral your pin will be. Do you always have to have a picture of your own? No. You need to be creative.
I get an average of 4k visitors a week to my website. I have never used my own pictures and I'm not violating any of pinterest rules.

I do find it hard to convert them. I haven't been using a squeeze page. I did try amazon offers, clickbank offers and cpa offers. As soon as I find a way to convert them better, I will let you know.
Also, if anyone knows how to do it, make sure you pm me!

People, stop posting about how Pinterest suck or about how useless it is for businesses. Seriously, why post if you have no idea? As it's been said, it's all about images, if your business doesn't involve images at all then it's better to forget about Pinterest and focus on other networks, but that doesn't mean this is a bad network at all, it's just for certain niches/products.

It can really boost both, your traffic AND your sales (hint: image links to your e-Catalog product). Just read a bit and be creative.

Then again, stop misguiding people by posting things if you don't know about what you are saying.

  • Pinterest works well if you are selling Products from amazon! or any type of product that women love. example place a picture of a show on pinterest then what you want to do is build a blog with shoes on it! (amazon affiliate links) that's how you can use Pinerest to make some money!

It's primarily a female targeted website, so if you can engage them into clicking your links, then yes you can probably make some decent money off of pinterest.

Pinterest can be a great source of traffic you just have to understand how it works. You also have to understand who uses it (mostly women/women with children) and how they use it. If your business or website can fit in with pinterest then it will be a good source of traffic. I think it basically comes down to your niche. Actually, I just read a pretty nice ebook all about pinterest and how to use it. I'm looking at the site in a different way now and thinking about how I can use it for traffic, haha.

I say, give it a try! Especially if your niche is aimed at women.

It definitely depends on the type of business you are promoting if you are planning you use Pinterest to profit. Pinterest if best for products...especially those that are unique and for women.

A great example of a company utilizing Pinterest to it's fullest is the site Etsy.com. They allow designers to sell on their site, share it on Pinterest (with price labels on posts), and are acquiring more users, customers, and revenue daily from this site alone.

So in order to have your business profit from social media, you have to go to the social media platform where most of you target market frequents. Is Pinterest the site you want to focus your energy on?
