Are you ignoring Pinterest? Could be a BIG mistake

I am and I've been using it for most my sites in some way or another.

It's like when twitter first started some IM's were slow to realise it as a potential source of convertible traffic.

Pinterest is ranking highly on its own so there's many untapped niches available.

I had a look for the first time today and was impressed. A great catchy photo seems essential to catch ones attention, from there just two clicks to you blog or web site.

At first look the products and info semes more orientated to females.

I would be pretty careful with Pinterest. You need to have your own images, if you don't have your own I would think twice before pin it. You can get in a serious trouble for that.

What do you mean by "your own" images. Are stock photos that I bought the rights for okay, or do I have to shoot them with my very own personal camera (or draw them and scan them in)?

Stock photos generally come with some limitations for usage. The best thing you can do is create your own image and brand it. It is good to create images that represent your service or product. Have a look at other peoples boards and see what catches your eye and why...then go make some of your own.

As Pinterest is relatively new, there is still a lot to learn, BUT there is so much potential on it for targeted traffic. One thing I learned quickly is not to spam... Mix good content in with your "money posts" or they will suspend your account. Don't leave Pinterest out of you traffic plan. Pinterest users on average make about $100,000 per! And they are buyers. They will also repin anything they think is valuable to their friends...

Twitter just has never seemed to have the main decision makers using it which is probably why it results in lower B2B revenue at least. A lot of people just hire other people to handle their Twitter account who can't make business decisions.

I agree on you Guys. Pinterest become popular for women where their boards are related in several niches like home, fashion, cooking, and other female-related terms. But you guys should not give up niche like cars and other male-related are also one of the highest repins on this site. You should use/upload the photos properly. It's just like article content, should not be plagiarized. It's easy to learn and very user-friendly. Just be creative enough to catch the attention and gain traffic and popularity.

Ignoring Pinterest is indeed a big mistake and definitely not the least thing you will do to market your product. Enough with boring texts that lifelessly lying on the plain white background; the mainstream business format has always been plain and simple, which seems to be conventionally unaccepted nowadays. There's nothing really artful about business, everything has to be lucid. However, we can't deny the fact that we are living in a visual world. Everything in this world is seemingly perceptible. And this exactly Pinterest is all about: showing HQ photos with relevant and meaningful information that can attract audience's attention. Just make sure that you genuinely own those photos though, and take time to explore and maximize its benefits.

Pinterest ins one of the good page ranking social bookmarking websites, that accepts only images and pics with links. It is beneficial for those sites who have more images than content. It is a big mistake if you ignore Pinterest. it is as important as facebook, twitter or stumbleupon.

No, you are right Charlie. You have to follow other boards, repin other pinners pictures, like and comment on other pictures.

You can create a group board and invite others in your niche with a lot of followers to pin on it.

Pinterest has doubled the traffic to one of my blogs since I started using it at the end of last year. It does not work for some niches as well as others.

It can not say that it is a mistake, but you should not ignore it. Pinterest is a content sharing service from which you can update and share images, videos and many more objects. It has social features which allows to do a guest blogging, Blog posting, Link analysis. So, I think it is a good opportunity to using pintrest to receive a good traffic.

A highly successful affiliate, whose progress I've been watching for years, now puts his main traffic-building focus on Pinterest.

I'm not saying Pinterest is the only reason for his traffic - far from it - but it's playing a large role in his phenomenal traffic.

This is a guy who - at his best time of the year - gets nearly 200,000 visitors a DAY.

He's not selling a product, most of his revenue comes from AdSense, and he's doing well enough to have one full-time helper and a two part-timers. So I reckon it's worth while watching what he does.

Some niches are going to be more appropriate than others for promoting on Pinterest.

His success has certainly got me thinking of ways to add more Pinterest-worthy images to my niche sites.

YES! I am ignoring it horribly. Well... I looked at it once, got confused, didn't quite "get" it and left. I am sure in a year or so I will wish I got started sooner but I am so focused on FB/Twitter right now... :-/

Thanks Allan for the inspiration! I started using Pinterest a little over a month ago and have already acheived 4,000+ visits from Pinterest alone in the last 30 days and this has generated me over an extra $100 in adsense revenue. Now I just have to scale things up!

Seems like most of these social booking marking sites are driven by people that don't have 9-5 jobs that have the luxury of spending all day on the internet: stay at home moms/dads, people that work from home, retirees. Wouldn't that explain why more women are on Pinterest? Stay at home moms. Anyone have any good sources of statistics on this demographic? It would be interesting to know.

Pinterest is good traffic generator if we have worthy images to share from our website! Awesome images can be a good source of clicks and visits form our pinterest pinboards to our blogs or websites.... and creating a pinterest for business account is imperative to build a targeted traffic!

Pinterest is part of my social media arsenals though I find a lot of success using Twitter and Linkedin on the other hand. Anyone heard about Pinterest development I bet with that news everyone will get interested to check them back again.

I am using Pinterest for some of my customers- not hardcore with viral marketing campaigns or instructographics. But I can see the success yet with very little effort. And I can emphasize the importance of the correct pinning time.There were many great blog posts our there lately with helpful informations how to deal best with Pinterest.
