[TUT] New twitter trick... Make your parody accounts look more REALISTIC! [fake verified badge]

Parody accounts on Twitter are used a lot to get clicks. People create a parody account of someone popular like Selena Gomez, and use it to tweet their links. Then they retweet it from one of their more popular accounts. (Or get others to do it for them).

For example...

Anyways, I noticed a way to make your parody accounts look more realistic. You probably won't need to do this, but I didn't just want to keep it to myself. Because of Twitter's new layout you can add a header image under your profile image. This makes it possible to add a fake "verified profile" badge by your name. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a screenshot of Ryan Seacrest's profile with the REAL badge...

Here's a profile I just made to make this tutorial. As you can see, there is no badge at the moment. Because this is just a PARODY account of Justin Bieber.

All we need to do is get our old header image, and add the badge in Photoshop or any image editing program, then re-upload it.

You need to use an image that has already been cropped and resized by Twitter to fit the header space (so when you re-upload it, it doesn't get cropped/resized again and ruin the badge). This means if you want to use a completely new image, just upload it as a header first before going to the next step...

Right click at the TOP of your header image in google chrome (I don't know about in other browser) and click Inspect Element.

Then you can get the image by clicking the link shown below...

Open that in photoshop, and drag the badge on top. Estimate where you name ends, and put it there. Save the image and upload it as your header. The badge probably won't be in the perfect place, so just change it a try again. After a few attempts you should get it perfect.

Here's my end results:

That literally took me less than 5 minutes!

I attached the badge image file to this post. Or, in case it's not working for whatever reason, get it here:

If this helped you out, please let me know!

Thanks

  • The amount of traffic that is generated by social media and how these tools are being used to gain individual and organizational benefits is worth noting. If you are worried about the future of social media, don't be, because the future of social media looks really bright for the next five years and with website like Twitter, there is hope for individuals and marketers alike. Thank you so much GBM for enlightening my knowledge further.

          Thank you!
I wish more people would actually share free tutorials here without trying to build their list all the time.
It seems all posts are either questions or trying to sell/advertise something.
Nothing wrong with that, but there should be more diversity.

The only downfall to this is, it's not targeted and you will lose your audience's attention when you tweet out affiliate links. They don't have to unfollow, they'll stop paying attention to you. Take this from someone who has 79k actual real twitter followers.

However, they're services out their that pay you per tweet, and others that pay you for clicks from your tweet, you can use those types of services to monetize because they offer things that people would normally click on like "black friday" specials or "gossip" "dating" type ads.
