LinkedIn - The often overlooked Social Media Power

Hey folks,

I've been looking through the Social Media forums for a while now, and notice that its all completely dominated by Facebook, Twitter & Google+.

LinkedIn barely even gets a mention, yet it is such a massive untapped resource for Free Targetted traffic.

Do many of you use LinkedIn ?

I've just written a post about it, would be great if you would take a look and decide if its for you.

(Mods - Am i ok to post a link? Apologies if not)

Interesting...I dont spend much time on LinkedIn, I dont even have their buttons on my articles. I am looking forward to trying the $50 coupon they sent me recently on ads though - I will see what I can do with them...

    Good article too

      Thanks Will.

Definetly worth looking into, even without the ads, a bit of work initially can really pay dividends later one.

You're right. It is overlooked. When I first started blogging, I purposely didn't create a LinkedIn account because I thought it was directed more towards big businesses.

Last year I finally created one, and benefit from traffic from it.

LinkedIn is a scary place to many people as it is perceived as a business social network.

But if you're blogging, then blogging is your business regardless of the niche or topic. LinkedIn has some great groups covering almost every topic under the sun - it's great for networking with other bloggers and finding them easily.

I think thats exactly it, people are actually scared of it. But if you use Forums such as this, then its essentially the same thing.

The funny thing is I don't spend as much time on linkedin, but it's still one of my biggest traffic producers. I usually just do status updates on linkedin but get a good click-thru to my offers as you're experiencing. I also get a lot of response from linkedin groups themselves because the groups are more active and focused.

LinkedIn is often overlooked for social media, but, I strongly support having Account at linkedin too, it has many other SEO experts and SEO Company profiles around who are good to connect and they can also help to carry out our social media preferences successfully, I have a LinkedIn Account of mine though I rarely get time to spend on any of my social media account but I have them all, may be in future I shall get a chance to work from it.

If you spend a bit of time building your profile towards the 500+ Connections Mark, every post you make on your blog will be seen by those 500 people on there timelines, should they comment, then all there connections will see it.

Write good articles and they can very easily go viral pulling in huge amounts of traffic to your site.

    Hi MMG1865!

LinkedIn is a very good source of traffic in my part. The good thing about this site is that you can able to talk and negotiate to real customers and owners. Even the traffic could be so low, but there is a high possibility that conversion rates will be high.

    Dear Steve,

Very true, I was looking at my various sites stats after your post and atleast 15% of my traffic comes from my linkedin profile and it does actually work when I keep updating my status and actually people to get in to my updates to check out what offer or news I am posting. Most of them actually turned to be a corporate customers and actually interested parties to get the work done.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

    Kind regards,
    Swrajit

    Hi Steve,

Yes, Linkedin works for me too. Around 20% of daily traffic. Drop a good post on a popular relevant group and you can trend for days, weeks even. I ignored it for ages, but I pay attention now.

      Hey Sting,

You're not wrong about it Trending for a few days, I've had more traffic on the back of this article from LinkedIn in the last couple of days than I did the previous month.

Also, goes to show the value of forums such as Warrior, I'd never really had much traffic from here before, but this article has seen a surge in that too.

Strange how writing about one thing can enable you to learn alot about something else at the same time.

      Great stuff.

I bought a set of instructional videos for LinkedIn, watched about half of them, and then started a new blog and FORGOT about it. I'm going to get back on them today! LinkedIn has a LOT of traffic that we probably all should be getting..

I'm a complete newbie but I definitely get better results from Linkedin and visitors stay longer across more pages.

The problem can be that feeds from the popular (worthwhile) groups can bury your discussions down the email so you don't get seen until you get some comments going.

Some groups are beginning to get spammed and this is putting some users off so be careful what you say and where you post.

Many groups have promotion sections which are for advertising rather than discussions - in my limited experience they are not worth much - you need to get a good discussion going. Anyone else found success with "promotions"?

"Re: LinkedIn - The often overlooked Social Media Power"

LI is not a social media power.
It is a professional media power.
And so you won't find there BS like my coffee was
cold and it ruined my day or a picture of a dog
      reading the newspaper (with glasses).

If you really have something to offer, LI is the
      place to be.

BTW the overlooked part of it is not enough using
      LI Answers.

      Thanks for your thread,
