Facebook Page Creation?

I'm pretty good at figuring out things but, FB is kicking my B'rind right now.

I created a page for branding a product site. Had no problems creating the page, adding things like pinterest, notes, etc. And adding quite a few product posts from an amazon site.

A few things wrong with the page:

1. It doesn't appear to be able to "friend" anyone.
2. I can only see the page through the admin area and not through the browser even though I have set it to public. I can't access hxxps://www.facebook.com/pages/XXXX but I can access the admin as hxxps://www.facebook.com/pages/XXXX/and-a-lot-of-numbers-here

That's just to start with.

Debra, pages cant have friends (there not people), but pages can like other pages, and posts.
Whats the URL of your fanpage? Your going to need to get some likes before you can set a custom name for your fanpage URL.

      The FB page is:
      HotLegos | Facebook

I just started it about a week and a half ago then started looping it into pinterest, twitter. So, I'm still trying to figure a lot of this stuff out and how to connect it all together.

You have to have at least 25 likes before you can make your url a custom one without all those numbers. Once you have your 25 likes you can go to edit page and create username and that is where you can enter the custom name.

    Hi Debra
I ran into the same problem when I thought that I could just create a Facebook page to promote my Blog. I found that a lot of things a not possible from a Facebook page. I ended up creating a Facebook user in addition to my Facebook page. I use both the page and the user account to promote my blog. It was not what I had planned to begin with, but I found that I was missing out on too much just with a Facebook page.

Debra, I was able to see and like your page. As stated above, once you have 25 'Likes' you can custom name your page so the #'s are out of the URL.

Word to the wise Techwork - if FB gets wise to the fact you have an actual profile for your business/product/cause rather than simply have a page, they can choose to shut it down permanently as well as closing your personal account. Especially now with the new 'pay to post' type of set up where only about a 1/3 of the fans actually see all the posts, FB will be cracking down on those trying to jump through loopholes.

Last night I added my personal timeline as an administer of the page.

From what your telling Techwork, have I done the wrong thing? The page now has 2 administers, the original page profile and then me. The profiles are different though, so I'm not sharing profiles, just admin privileges.

I read the TOS but still some of it can be confusing in terminology. And getting a timely answer from FB is proving to be difficult.

        Hi again Debra

I don't think that you have done it wrong, you just need to figure out what you can do with a Facebook Page and what you can only do with a Facebook Profile. E.g. people can't be friends with your Facebook Page, but only with a Facebook Profile. However they can like your Facebook Page. That is just one of many difference that I have noticed between the 2 account types.

Yes Debra, set up a new account and then you can like and befriend others. They will then also like your page.
