What do people think of reddit and Pinterest?

Whats your views on Pinterest and Reddit.

I have used a few times with clients for marketing campaigns but didn't notice much of a return.

Has anyone got any specific stories of when it worked and of course an idea how?

Appreciate all your help!

Reddit: Redditors do not like spam or affiliate sites, advertisements etc.

Pinterest: I have no idea, never used it.

Pinterest if used correctly, can generate you a ton of traffic!

It is the 4th Largest referral traffic source WORLDWIDE!

It is only beat by Google organic traffic, direct traffic, and Facebook traffic

How do you use Pinterest for affiliate links?

Reddit is hardly monetized because most surfers just hang out, not search products to buy.

Pinterest is good to monetize. If this used correctly, you can make any sales from it.

Redditt is a good way to drive traffic to your blog or content, but the users over there will flag you as spammer if you just post affiliate links.

Pinterest is awesome for referral traffic because you can direct link an image with your affiliate link. A lot of people have been making serious money on Pinterest using viral images and CPA or affiliate campaigns.

From all I've read and experienced first-hand regarding Reddit... It's a terrible traffic source if you're selling something. Bottom line is that when people browse Reddit, they're either in a procrastination-mindset (not willing to do anything that makes them think too hard or asks too much of them) or a leisure-mindset (if what they see isn't immediately candy to the eyeballs or funny, etc., they'll be clicking back to Reddit within seconds.). I can confirm this by my own browsing habits on Reddit, as well as with a simple glance over at the abnormally high bounce rates I see from Reddit on my Google Analytics.

Pinterest, on the other hand, can be an excellent traffic source, but it requires much work building up a presence first (similar to Facebook, but in my opinion relatively more difficult than FB). My suggestion if you're going for Pinterest traffic is to create a Business account (recently introduced) and brand the heck out of that sucker. Make it nice, and promote it hard. Tip: anything unoriginal or only slightly 'wow' will get you nowhere, whereas one unique and awesome picture can get you a bucketload of viral traffic overnight. I had one pin that was repinned over 200 times with no promotion. I literally just pinned it, someone picked it up and it just went wild from there.

Likewise with what others have said about reddit except if you have personally made the business yourself, it is your own product, and it is quality. Even then, they don't convert to buyers as well, but it can and does drive traffic.

These sites only work if you submit things you genuinely like.

Pinterest is good source of traffic but you need to be in big boards and have to be an active pinner so that board members recognise you. but mostly fun seeking people will come to your site best for wallpapers/meme/funny sites. If you are in more than 20 boards than 5000 daily traffic is not difficult. but only cpm networks will generate you revenue. this is my thought and little experience can't say of others

Reddit is not buying traffic. But if you provide something that their followership likes you will be better received in future by the community. Sending them to a squeeze page will never work in your wildest dreams.

But providing a genuinely funny and interesting article might get a few sign ups to your list or something...

I think that a lot of Reddit admins are shadow-ban happy. I am not sure what to think of Pinterest.

Pinterest provides awesome traffic. But it works for sites with some original product/list.

My Opinion - Good for niche blogs (if you are providing some genuine tips or selling genuine product) . Works good with amazon affiliates.

There are some formalities in everything. In SEO, there is a formality of Social bookmarking which hardly brings any visitor to a site. Reddit is one of those social bookmarking site where people bookmark their sites.

Pinterest has become a latest trend which can bring visitors to a site.

Pinterest is great for promotional purposes, and actually doesn't take much to get a large following or get your "pin" out there. Contrary to what others are saying about needing a huge following to get noticed- you can actually get the ball rolling quite easily with a small network of user accounts that pin original content. The key here is to have an eye for the content and know what is trending.

I have tried paid adverts on Reddit... I was never successful with them, but that is not saying that others could not be successful with it.

I just recently started messing with Pinterest, but I haven't tried to market from it yet. I am still learning the lay of the land. There appears to be some people making money with it, but I believe they have blocked some affiliate networks from their site.

Reddit is a Old Site and it can give you a Authority for Organic Ranking. But Pinterest Is more powerful because its based on image and people likes to see interesting images. If used properly it'll give you tons of referral niche traffic. I think both can help you to get Organic ranking on search engines.

I use reddit for no follow backlinks to my videos. A backlink is a backlink. I just started marketing on Pinterest but like any other social network, you need to build a substantial following before you will start to see noticeable referral traffic to your sites.
