Intro

Hi fellow warriors, entrepreneurs, visionaries, experts, etc.

I haven't formula introduced my self to the forum, so I shall do it now.

My name is Isaiah Coe. I'm a entrepreneur, want to be film director, and many more things. In my hopes to brand myself in this forum, I'm going to share with you my knowledge of YouTube. I personally have had many YouTube accounts (personal and business) and also have been on YouTube since 2007. Currentley my best account has about 1,000 subscribers and 100,000 views. Just wanted to let you know that I'm no noob to the YouTube game. If you search for after effects hud tutorials, you will find my channel.

How to Make it Big on Youtube?

What will you need?

- A way to create/edit videos
- Something that you're highly interested in
- Patience
- And a internet connection

The 4 Things that make it Big on YouTube!

1. Something Stupid (Entertaining)
2. Something Amazing/Inspirational
3. Something Informative
4. Something Entertaining (General)

If you really think about it the only things that make it big on YouTube follow the four categories above.
For example, 1. Epic Meal Time, 2. Charlie Chaplin's Speech, 3. How To's/News Videos 4. Freddiew
Now there are many more example for the categories, but these are my personal ones. Also if you don't any of the example I just listed, you can just search for them.

Okay so now that you know the things that make it big, here a few that don't.
(Crappy things that shouldn't be on there period)

Things that just shouldn't be there!

1. Videos with just pictures and maybe music.
(Main goal is to have you go to a link)
2. Fake Video Testimonials
3. Stupid Video Replies to Trending Videos
4. Also uploading videos that are treading, and leave your ad link below for something you know people will click on.

I won't give you examples of those type of videos. Most likely you already have ran into them or done them your self.

Making It Big!

Choosing The Idea

So now that you know what is big and whats not big, I will get into how you actually get big. First you need to choose something that your highly interested in. It can be cooking, designing, skating, programming, building, etc. (Anything) Just make sure that your interested in it or you will hate doing it later. Also just to let you know if this your first time making videos it will be a pain to create them, so that they meets your standards. You will learn how to lower your standards to the point that your mostly happy about your video. Mainly the fact that you made it and your happy that it turned out alright.

My Recommendations
- How To's
- Comedy
- Montages

But it's all your preference

Recording

This will most likely be the most challenging part for you. It was challenging for me but I soon got over it. Here are a few ways of making videos that people will actually watch. One way of doing it is to grab a camera at just do it. Yeah you can just do it but while recording . Whatever you like doing or interesting in do it, someone else is most likely interest in it to. If you don't have any interesting audio while you do it, you can commentate over it later. Another way is if your more of a audio person, what you can do is record the audio and then throw in a picture montage or video montage that accurately reflects your audio. It can just be a picture as long as it's interesting. One more thing that you can do is if you are a designer, make a speed art. This is designing something while recording it, then speed it up in your editing software. It's really popular way of making video on YouTube. And you can practically apply this to anything. There are many interesting ways of making videos, you just half to find which way suits you.

Recording Equipment
- Canon Cameras are the best videos cameras.
- Camstudio for screen capturing (free)
- Camtasia for screen capturing (not free but it does much more)

Editing

This can be a whole new world to many people, it seemed liked it to me. These programs can look so confusing, and make you doubt your ability to learn how to use them. Trust me after watching a lot of tutorials on YouTube, you will become a master at using it. Whenever editing programming that you decide to you be sure to search for the beginners guide first. Also if you can't get a editing program, but I doubt it, YouTube has their own editing feature but it's not the best. I recommend that you start off with windows movie maker (free) then upgrade to Sony Vegas. Also you can edit in Camtasia but it's not better than Sony Vegas.

Constancy

After you start getting your first videos up, you need to keep doing it. It needs to be like a blog or a magazine that you get every week. You want to be uploading at least 1-3 videos a week. If you aren't Constant once you start gaining subs you could loose them because of that. I have lost many subs from being inactive. But please don't mistake quantity being better then quality. Especially with videos, quality is always going to trump quantity.

Video SEO

Just use common logic when naming and tagging your videos.
Example,
[Correct] Funny Dog Tricks
[Wrong] My Cute Little Chester Doing Tricks
Use key phrases that you would search for. Once you get a ton of subs you can make your title whatever and people will still watch it.

Connecting

This can send you on the fast track to making it big. I have made so many connections and friends through YouTube it's ridiculous. All you half to do is send a message or leave a comment. Believe it or not people can be really friendly on YouTube. I have actually done work for some people and all we did was contact through YouTube's messenger. People are more likely to trust you after seeing a few of your videos.
Note* This works best if you have quality videos up on your channel.

What if you are trying to get videos to go viral?

We created a comedy mini series about insurance, I know how could insurance videos work?

Insurance is very complicated and often people are a little hazy on exactly what is covered or not covered at claim time.

Please give me your thoughts on the two episodes on our website. The first video displayed on our site is actually our second episode...the first is right below the second. Dirk and Canon Investigate whether or not certain types of claims are covered by insurance, by going out and causing the claim!

I could not paste the youtube URL from my ipad...sorry. If you go to the website you can see both episodes we have launched so far.

Going viral can be more or less difficult then going big. If you have like 100,000 subs it's more likely that your going to go viral then the average Youtuber. But you could have like 50 subs and still go viral

Lets say for example you have this amazing video but only 10 people viewed it on the first day. By chance one of those ten people could be somebody with a much larger channel then yours. If they were to like/favorite/comment on the video it will show up on their feed, and their subs will see it. Or they could just give you a shot out because the video was so amazing. And their subs will most likes check it out.

Mainly what I'm trying to say is there is no method for going viral, unless your faking it or if you have large network. But again for the average YouTuber, will only get viral by luck/chance.

Ps. I will be sending you a message with my thoughts on your videos.

YouTube is a great place to get free traffic to your site.

If you are making videos in the make money online niche, please don't put all your eggs into the YouTube basket only.

Make sure that you have other sources of traffic like articles, ppc, solo ads, etc....

I had one video that was very informative. It was talking about how data entry jobs online that require a one time fee were and still are a scam. It got me like 40,000 views in a matter of a few short months. Then one day YouTube decided to get rid of it which cost me a lot of traffic.

Thank God that I had other paid and free traffic sources working for me at the same time.

    Just my 2 cents.

I've already created 2 videos. I just need to create my channel then upload the videos.

Great stuff. And welcome to the forum. From the way you write content I can tell you're not a newbie :-)

Thanks for the informative post. It must have taken a long time to craft such a lengthy post. You are right about the 4 types of videos that become popular and viral on Youtube.

So, the idea is the first important thing when you sit down to create a video. Any ideas how anyone can make funny kind of videos for niches as serious as weight loss, heart diseases, blood pressure etc?

    Hi Isaiah,

I think your tips is excellent and especially liked your 4 tips of what should and shouldn't be on there.

Not only will it be more profitable if you do not do those "4 shouldn't do" things but it will also be more sustainable to avoid those 4 and do the "4 should do" things.

Great advice for anyone starting out or for those of us benefit more from focusing on the bigger picture with YouTube marketing.

There is a mistake in the 2nd line under "What will you need".

It says "something your highly interested in" and should say "something you're highly interested in"
