URL shortener on Twitter is useful particularly if your url is too long that you cannot add useful captions along with that url. Imagine a tweet that is just pure link without caption, do you think it's good?

Great advice. It helps you get some space to write your Caption/Title. Also people will click on it to see where it leads them. To do soo, your Title/Caption must be attractive enough for people to click on it.

Definitely use one. It's good to stay away from them on Facebook because people like seeing where the link is going to send them, but on Twitter definitely use a shortener (I use bitly) so that you can get more information into the Tweet. You can also track the amount of clicks that the link gets with bitly, and I assume you can with a few of the other options...

URL shortener is definitely the best way to share a long links with the maximal amount of characters in your Tweets. Twitter recommends to use a URL shortener for security purposes. In fact, Twitter offers a link-shortening service just for this. The link service at t.co / Twitter is only used on links posted on Twitter.com and is not available as a general shortening service on other apps or sites.

It's really up to you. If you're promoting an affiliate product or a third party site, you may want to be tracking the twitter campaign to see if it's really giving you a return on your "investment". If you're not looking for stats and can fit it in your posts, just posting the regular URL is fine as twitter will shorten it a bit anyway.

I highly recommend bit.ly. I also use bufferapp to schedule my tweets and connect that account with bit.ly to measure and track any link clicks. Hope that helps

It's good to use it mainly because you're limited with the number of characters limitation. Another thing why you should use them is to track the number of clicks.

Absolutely you should use a URL shortener on Twitter. More characters for you to play with that way.
