Facebook Group Automation

Anybody know of any tools that can post to un-owned Facebook groups (member but not owner) and/or others Pages, in an automated way - other than Hootsuite.

Up until Sep you could have used Seesmic. This was a great alternative to Hootsuite. However Hootsuite acquired them.

You could try Gremlin | Gremln.com - Professional Social Media Tools

I think the implication being made here is that the same message to several groups is spam, not that sharing one message written particularly in response to what that group is doing with relevant content for it is. If you were instead copying & pasting something blindly across multiple groups that would of course be spam.

Unfortunately automation is often misused which causes a swift reaction when it is discussed... after all social is about the opportunity to communicate and results come best when you interact directly which tools can certainly help with managing, but not so much with setting things up that you don't see.

Yes it is often misused but when a response is ignorant and damning (I dont mean your response) and in a public manner it is often tantamount to defamation of character. A far greater crime.

If you reproduce your message in four groups all with an interest about conservation for instance, even with the same message - this is not spam. The members collectively have a de-facto interest in your message. News items from Reuters are reproduced across countless smaller news organisations, so that the message travels further, its not spam because of this.

If you are guilty of spam by virtue of delivering the same message to many if not thousands of people, groups would have no place at all. Posting to multiple relevant groups of course increases the number of recipients, if this is inappropriate tell me what the limit to the number of people should be.

I am a small business owner, struggling to get my messages out to as many people as I can, where it's relevant, I cannot afford to waste my time delivering the message to people that have no interest. My messages are generally in the form of articles about adventure travel, and outdoor pursuits, usually the full article is on my website and for some posts I put an excerpt onto Facebook and other resources, this will either be on my personal page, my business page or a group. Friends will have elected not to show my messages in their news feeds if they don't want to see them, similarly for my Business Page followers would not have Liked it if they had no interest in what it has to say and can elect to remove it from their news feed. Slightly different with groups but in that I only post relevant messages, mine will have as much relevance to the group as any other that posts there, providing I am selective.

My problem is that the my business has a broad focus, many subject areas create many messages that are best served across a variety of groups. This causes a large overhead, naturally I want the process to be as streamlined as possible, automation is one part of the solution.

Before people start saying I should have a narrower scope, they should consider that they have no business telling me what my business model should be or what makes sense with the resources at hand - this is my call and largely determined by the tools that I can leverage.

Before the evangelists start saying that an item of news has no place in a forum, it should only be delivered passively to people who come looking for it. Consider television news, the broadcasters place items that they think they're audience will want to consume, a member of the audience chooses to watch or ignore a given piece, similarly in news print a person chooses to read or ignore a specific item. There should not be any difference in the attitude towards contributors material in an online group that a person chooses to subscribe to or to look at.
