Google Plus Community?

So, Google Plus just came out with 'Communities'.

I've started one, and I have no idea how to use it.

How is it different than a hang out? Has anyone learned how to leverage these yet? How can they be used?

  • This might help: Find your communities - Google+

upon first glance, kinda looks like it will be a "facebook groups" kind of thing.

I can see this being very helpful for SEO. If you have a site / blog. Just setup Google authorship and make sure you join communities relevant to your niche.

If you're servicing local businesses, you can see about creating a community relevant to their market - though I wouldn't think this would work for many business types. Restaurants may start a community that shares recipes. A photographer may start a photography community and share tips. Not sure how active an "attorney" community would be lol but you get the idea.
  • I definitely have to check this out... thanks for the insights.... I hope it has more features then G+1 hangouts...

    • I just joined communities in my niche yesterday and posted an article from my blog. I had 20 new people in a circle I setup marked for this niche. It may not be an email list but soon enough I could see having a large circle for my niche and marketing to them directly through google+
  • thanks great info will have to try
