How I Got 64,000 Fans on Facebook

I'm going to share some tips that helped me reach over 177,000 fans on one page and many other pages with anywhere from 1,000 - 30,000 fans.

Let's slam it down easy first.

When I began Facebook marketing I had no knowledge of what was right or wrong. In fact I just threw up some advertisements without reading any tutorials or guides. That ended up turning into one of my best ideas.

Instead of following what everyone was teaching, I just tried what made sense.

First off my page Halo 4 Fans is pretty massive, in fact it's the largest in the Halo 4 industry, including versus YouTube channels, twitter pages, websites, and everything else. It's so large that I've been able to acquire sponsorships, partnerships, and am now in direct communication with the developers of the game.

Even more into it, the page has helped me sponsor other gamers who have since then been offered jobs by major corporations, including Microsoft, 343 Industries, Gamma Gamers, and other companies. These gamers are now working for large corporations that I myself am a fan of, giving me direct communication with each one and inside looks.

But... let's back up.

Where the hell did all of this start?

May 16, 2011 (I may be off by a few days)

One month before the official announcement of Halo 4, I randomly had an idea... Instead of creating pages for products and brands, how about create a page dedicated primarily to the people that are "fans" of those products/brands.

The idea turned into Halo 4 Fans, at the time I didn't even think the game was ever going to be released, but being a fan of the Halo series I knew there was a lot of speculation going around, especially since e3 was right around the corner.

The plan worked. The interest that people had just in the thought of the game possibly came out was more than enough to give the page a burst of fans, but of course, I had to get the page out there first.

I tested 5 campaigns, all at $2.50 each (max spending per campaign).

Each campaign started with the same principles, same demographics, same description, everything. The only difference was the image being used.

One the test was over, I found that something, so damn basic and general was perfect. The image I used was simple just text saying "Halo 4" and that's it. Nothing special, nothing robust, nothing even graphically beautiful. It was junk.

Mind you, I was paying for impressions (HUGE TIP) and hated paying for clicks.. the higher the click through my campaign was, the cheaper my clicks were, so I found it worth while.

Next, I used that same image with a different description. Using the same strategy of 5 campaigns at $2.50 each (that's only $12.50 btw). The best description was the shortest of the bunch, simply saying...

"Press like if are ready for Halo 4"

Now remember, Halo 4 wasn't even announced, it was all speculation and that's it. Nothing more.

This extremely simple campaign with the junky image and simple text ended up only costing me $0.03 per click.

So finally, I narrowed the campaigns down a bit further with one more test.

I used the same image and description as before, but this time I tried out different techniques. Here are the ones I tested.
  • Linking directly to the page.
  • Linking to a fan-gate which made people click like before accessing the page.
  • Linking to a post.
  • Linking to a poll that lead to the page.
  • Linking to a offsite URL.
The most successful of the 5, was linking directly to the page.

I was now receiving clicks for only $0.01!

I wondered why.. and then I realized that when you link directly to a page, there is a like button in the advertisement. Instead of going to the page, someone could simply click on the "Like" button and continue whatever they were doing. They could then later look at the page when status updates were posted.

And that's how I've done it since then. The same strategy, except a few different changes here and there to see what works best... but I've found the cheapest and most converting methods were by using these 14 tips (in no order + a bonus tip)...

0. Not mentioned above, but important. If you can get a Facebook ad coupon, get one, they can save you $50 - $100 right off the bat
1. Create a community, people like people
2. Do multiple campaigns changing small things each time
3. Link directly to the page (and test other variances too)
4. Try junky images
5. Create something unique, screw what you've been told and just try things out
6. Be active on your page.. no one wants to like a page that is stale
7. Go after topics that are trending or could potentially trend in the future
8. Pay for impressions.. many people will disagree with me, but they are also paying $0.70 per click while I'm paying under $0.03
9. If you spend too much money on a project.. stop and try something different. A problem I see often is people are so invested in something they won't open their eyes to new ideas
10. Stop trying to cheat the system.. Everyone is "buying" likes from all of these junky services.. if someone says "people will like your page more when it has more likes" they don't know what they are talking about, I've seen pages jump from 0 fans to 5,000 fans overnight and then slow down in growth
11. Aim for high click-through rates, the higher your CTR, the better (with impressions)
12. If you use up all of your good content early on, don't worry, you can repost the same content later once you have more fans, your inital content should be setup to get fans interested
13. Stay consistent, post often, don't spam, and don't always include a link in your status updates.. that's a huge one right there and the reason most pages SUCK, who wants to be promoted too? Not me..
14. Just because I said to do something... be yourself and try your own techniques

There you have it.

That's my platform to success with Facebook advertisements and it works. But remember, there is no strategy that is going to work forever, platforms change, people adapt, and progress is made. If you want to get started with Facebook advertising or Facebook pages in general, get started right now and stop giving excuses.

Here are 3 quotes to get you rolling...

"The only true wisdom is knowing that you know nothing." - Socrates
" If you are not willing to risk the usual you will have to settle for the ordinary." - Jim Rohn

And how could I not include a quote that hits the spot...

"Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it." - Maya Angelou

  • That is one interesting thing which you shared. I will surely work on it. But one thing I wanted to ask you as you mentioned in your signature did you earn $3,000 from your facebook page or from other platform?
    • [2] replies
    • I earned the $3,000 in a day throughout all of my methods, but primarily it was in relation to my niche websites. But that was with much more invested time than I've put into my Facebook marketing or any other system.

But it is definitely possible to make some good money with Facebook pages, especially if you aim to spend the least amount of money. I mean image spending $100 and then having a large list that you can market to all the time, it's amazing and requires very little work once you get it going. Websites on the other hand take a lot of work in my opinion but the payouts can be far greater because you have 100% control.

If you combine the 2 in a good niche with a good idea, you'll be set.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • woh! Someone has been burning the midnight oil everynight!
  • 3000 in a day? wow this is just awesome! i just make 100 Euro in a day from my page but i would love to follow what you've been doing
  • Very inspirational case study. Congrats for the Halo 4 page

Do you target the other games as well? Call of duty comes to mind, God of war, etc..? How do you monetize your page? Solely sponsorships? I think if you create (or find a good guide to promote) it might work out pretty great.

    -Gabriel
    • [1] reply
    • Yep. This is just an example of one of my pages. I have pages for all types of different games, but I'm also in the fitness, health, and recipe niches and doing well there.

As for the monetization, my main focus now is sponsorships because then I don't have to push a product on someone, I have more leeway and feel more comfortable doing it. And the fans enjoy it more in my opinion.

I've promoted guides before and have sold them, but in the gaming niche, guides aren't really needed.

GameFly on the other hand, whew, has done wonders for me and I do promote that every so often

    • Glad I could help.

The most successful ideas I have ever had were actually the most basic and obvious.

I always imagined Halo 4, so I created a page where other people who imagined of the game existing could go and talk. It's as simple as that

If you can build a community around something where OTHER people will talk and you don't have to, you're set.
  • Any chance you'd want to make a World of Warcraft related page and affiliate my product which is crushing it in cash?
    • [1] reply
    • Although I love video games, I'm not really a fan of World of Warcraft. Not because it's a bad game, but moreso because I just don't enjoy playing it.

On that note, I'd have to decline, because I hate getting into niches (even if profitable) that I don't have real interest in

And for your reference, take a look at these stats: Google Trends

Whilst when competing against a game like Minecraft, it can't even compare: Google Trends

Good luck with your product and I hope any future updates of the game help you progress even more!

  • Justin,

What an excellent detailed post! Thanks for sharing it.

Can you elaborate a bit on your ideas for the weight loss and fitness niches? I'd love to hear how you're using Facebook pages for those niches.

    • [1] reply
    • The best way to start is to go either after products (p90x), communities (one life fitness members), styles (get 6 pack abs), or exercises (pushups).

Of course these are my opinions. But let's say you wanted to go after p90x, you could create a page dedicated to the community behind p90x or even target p90x2 (look at google trends).

Or you could target a community that is already existent, like one life fitness members. In my opinion this would work best if you actually went to one life fitness and started building relationships with members and telling them about the page, maybe even written business cards with the page url.

My personal favorite deals with fitness to get rid of certain things like... for example I have mild gynecomastia so I directly relate to that individual audience immediately. It's one of the next audiences I'm targeting as well because I know there are a lot of people out there that need support, even though it may not seem like a serious issue, it is to us.

Then of course you could build a page targeted towards simple workout routines like pushups, maybe even give some tips on how they can spice up their workouts like how Steve Kamb does with Nerd Fitness: Helping You Lose Weight, Get Stronger, Live Better.

  • Wow, some kind of marketing! 3,000 a day - don't I wish.
    • [1] reply
    • Ah yea, the $3,000 wasn't however solely dedicated to Facebook. That was in thanks to my niche websites, primarily in the home construction and real estate niche
  • Great post Justin. You've done a good job explaining how you used FB ads to get more likes. I'm interested in learning more about what sort of content you then posted to the FB page, and how you monetized it.
  • It is all about finding that one image that will go viral.
One of my fan pages had 2,000 fans, and then I post a picture that went viral and get 29,000 likes, and my fan page get 6200 new fans.
  • Amazingg! I'm looking forward to do this kind of work.. thanks a ton
  • Nice shared method Justin!

    Glad we got Halo 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 secure prior to your post LOL!

This info, which REALLY should be in a PAID WSO, is dynamite.. use it, upscale it, monetize it and get your new Porsche or Bentley paid for from Mr Z and Facebook earnings next year

APPLY this to lots of your IM everyday, you will be suprized how quick you will get a "sponsor" interested in your fans/lists!
    • [1] reply
    • *cough* I'm way ahead of ya. *cough* hehe, but there's always room for more.. especially if you are actually interested in the game and not just some random marketer (we hate those guys).

P.S. I have partners that are now working directly with 343 Industries, so that's an added bonus Not that I can disclose anything.
  • I love reading things like this awesome job. How did you reach the level of sponsorship from the developers and companies?
  • Justin, that is a fantastic story; so cool to see someone killing it just by diving in without trying to understand everything about it before taking action! The podcasts are a great idea too.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • The great thing is that it doesn't take a lot of work.

Yes in the beginning it takes practice and testing, but after you get past that stage it's not difficult at all.

I can toss up campaigns now that are targeted enough to average around $0.01 - $0.04 per click, which is rare in most cases if you know how CPC and CPM work.

Many guys out there are doing like $0.25 - $1.00 per click and are okay with that and I just don't get it.. optimize your campaigns more and BOOM, easy leads for 1000% less the cost.
      • [ 2 ] Thanks

  • Thanks a lot for this hint. I have done facebook ad myself for two of my posts for $5/post and the last for $10. I started out with 503 likes and at the end of the campaign, i'm at 5487 Likes currently. Withing a period of 3 weeks actually. I still wanna increase my page to something really bigger. My plan is to gather a targeted traffic for my blog. I started the blog and sent some links from the blog to the page @ 5000+ likes, yet I'm still struggling with Traffic.
Maybe there is something I'm not doing right.

  • Has it proven profitable?
    • [1] reply
    • To say it's made me over $325 in the last 4 days, yes. There was one time where I posted a single status update that pulled in more than $200. Obviously that's not always going to happen, but that's why I don't just work on one page, I have many.

  • Great information here! How frequently do you post updates and do they have to be pertaining to the particular niche and can you post something general?
    • [1] reply
    • I post general topics all the time and they get great responses. I post on average to this audience more than 5-10 times a day, although that's not usually suggested on Facebook I believe. It really just depends on your audience, if you start seeing people saying "stop spamming us" then you're doing something wrong.
  • Good for you, sounds lucrative.. but im gonna try something like that, even though i dont see the high value in facebook followers...
  • Hi Justin thank you very much for sharing. This is great. I don't quite understand how you are monetizing the site via sponsors though? YOu have a link to Level Up with 5 Minute Gamer in the about. Is that the sponsor? Or do you occasionally post a link to your sponsor on the actual site?

    Cheers.
    • [1] reply
    • I monetize quite a bit in different areas.

      Many you won't notice directly.

And then with the 5 Minute Gamer that's my site which I use to teach people how to get into the gaming industry as developers, bloggers, reviewers, guide writers, youtubers, etc.

I make money via my sites via sponsorships, affiliates, and sometimes I put adsense on the site, but only in terms of big traffic spikes.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I've read that adding the versus attribution "vs." also works wonders. Say you create a Fan Page for the Twilight Series. Adding the title Edward vs. Jacob and complementing this with an image split in half, with Edward on the left side, and Jacob on the right side, and in the middle "vs". This will instantly grab people's attention and call them to take action.

I like the idea here of speculating on something that might occur in the future. We've decided to test this in our Facebook campaign for SEO in particular. In our add description we speculate on the possibility of Google introducing a Orca, Zebra, or Skunk algorithm (considering they already introduced Panda and Penguin, all black and white animals). I will share my findings one month from now.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • That's actually a great idea that I can definitely see working! Create something like this, then sit back and watch the fans populate the page for you (Edward's fans fighting Jacob's!). lol

@ Justin.. great post. So many useful tips. I totally hate CPM but I can see that sometimes it's much better than CPC.

  • Wow! That's really nice. Thanks for the information. It will help me a lot.

  • Great information! I am currently giving it a try for a niche... Our postings / images are constant and of good quality but i am starting to think this targeted niche is a lot harder to convert than something more mainstream/ generic like fitness/ xbox etc.. Some companies in the niche have a max 50k likes from what i have seen.. so getting 5-10k would be awesome for brand awareness and audience etc.

we posted 3 adds. all similar but different.. $30 each.. targeted the location and specific audiences of organizations etc. CPM is 0.49 on one with little to none likes/shares etc.. the other one is at $1 CPM with less than 10 click troughs and next to no likes / shares..

The designs are not the problem , i have design down pat (lol adds dont work) and i tried simple , slightly better, and simple but different all with different text...

the seem to work but with very little results, but it may have something to do with the target audience anyway

I really hope i see good things when i wake up tomorrow on facebook.. like 5k likes haha..

    • It's been about 2 weeks since you made this post.

How are your results so far and did you continue to test out different campaigns with different ads?

To say that an ad is "good" is really just opinion, the impressions and clicks really decide if it's good or not

  • hi,

    Thanks for sharing!! Very informative.

One last question, do you have any CPA offer or affiliate links on your fb page? Or just link it back to your blog/website?

    thanks
  • Thank you mate
  • Great approach. Content Lockers always work on Facebook
  • Very interesting, will have to try it out. It just happens that soon I will have to build a facebook for my new site.
  • Wow, that's a lot of fans ! Do you run status shouting services?
  • Very helpful, I went and did an add on Facebook having no idea at the time and payed $50 for about 20 likes, wasn't the most profitable campaign hahaha
  • Yeah bro definitely you correct, This is my strategy too
  • Thank you for the share, I am using facebook ads for my clients and I an doing a similar strategy as yours with great results

    Well done and thanks again!

    Simon
  • Wow!

That is a really great and inspiring story. I am hoping to get that same level of success with my sites, but I haven't tried some of what you posted yet. Perhaps I'll give it a shot then? It's very good to hear success stories like yours. Makes us continue to go on and not give in to the downs of internet marketing. Thank you very much and cheers to your success!
  • Justin,

    Love that Jim Rohn quote!

Your story is very inspiring too and the level you've reached with that HALO page... Damn! That's good stuff!

Here's an awesome tip from my experience with Facebook: Make a page with the name: "a keyword that you want to rank for" and connect it with the website you're trying to rank for that keyword! Drive some advertising and rankings start to increase!

But don't forget to maintain the page and post regulary.

This is a tested method for low, almost medium competition keywords and the website was an EMD but I am pretty sure it can work for non-emds too!

    Nino
    • [1] reply

    • Are you sure that was the reason you saw your ranking increase?

I'm not saying it doesn't work, but I don't know if that was the sole reason for it's increase. Rankings for EMD's are jumping around a bit right now and I've seen many of mine (even though many say of the contrary) increase in rankings as of late.

  • That's crazy, but fantastic! Great work! I appreciate your time in telling us how you did it!
  • Great post! I've had great success with FB ads, but this trumps what I've been able to accomplish. Do you have more material?
  • Thanks for the advice Justin Lewis!
I think I will try your steps.
  • Fantastic post Justin! Really useful info for someone that wants to get started in Facebook marketing (such as myself)

Do you have any specific advice for the total beginner?

  • I have a e-book, tips about how to increase follower in a day, if you wish i can give you, thank you.

    • That's awesome! Congratulations dude!

It's a really great strategy and I know it can help others that take action with it.

I've had 3 others come to privately via Skype recently and say they have gained 1,000, 5,000 and even more than 15,000 in the last 2 weeks IT really gets me excited to hear this type of stuff, especially when it's from something I said to help them take action.

  • One thing I learned.

You can no longer use the image idea outlined in the OP. Facebook has updated their Ad guidelines to say you can't promote posts of a pic that has 'more than 20% text.'
    • [2] replies
    • Justin,

Great tips. I have two questions.

      1. When you run your Ad do you check the boxes to include Stories About Your Page? I believe there are 3 boxes. - People liking your Page, People liking any of your Page posts, People commenting on any of your Page posts.

When I created an Ad, I got two Ads -- one of them includes Sponsored Stories. It seems more expensive. I am not sure if I should delete it or not.

      2. Do you include Sponsored Stories in your Ads?
    • Yea when I used my original idea it wasn't just plain text, it was an actual fake logo that looked similar to an image, but it said Halo 4.

In my experience (even recent) if your text is like an image/graphic then they seem to get approved. I will also say that I do a lot of testing with Facebook ads now so it's also possible that it's because I have spent a certain amount of money on their advertising network that my ads are approved more often. But that's something I can't say as a fact.
  • Thanks for the advice - I've had a Facebook fanpage for a while but struggling to get likes - will try these tips
  • What was your total ad bill for the 64,000 fans?

How much are you making a month off these fans?

    That's all that matters.

The number of fans doesn't impress me one bit. Anyone can get fans for pennies each. But what matters is the lifetime value of the fans. If your Halo kiddies arent' hungry to buy and/or you haven't implemented a plan to suck money out of them regularly, then you're just another sucker who has given FB your time and money and gotten little back.
    • [2] replies
    • Alright let's jump into this one

Total ad bill was around $260, that's including a $100 ad coupon I have for Facebook, so in reality it was around $160. That was to get my initial fans (around 26,000 - 32,000) and since then everything else has been completely viral with no other ad expenses. Throw in a few domains that I purchased for testing purposes and that might exceed $200 in total of my money spent out.

Next comes the profits, this widely varies depending on what I'm doing and how I'm going about monetizing the community, but ultimately I don't push monetization on them directly (I don't focus as much on affiliates, cpa's, etc. at the moment) and I've moved onto focusing more on building big connections with large companies, large YouTubers, and gaming companies in general.

But to give you an idea, I've posted single status updates that have pulled in more than $100 in 1 hour after being posted, primarily promoting products like GameFly ($25 a signup) and have posted a series of status updates that earned me about $2/hr for a 2 week period. That's when I was focusing more on affiliates, cpas, etc. in other words, quick money. But now I've moved onto bigger fish and I'm focusing on building a real network here and gaining the approval of big gaming companies.

Immediately you jump directly into "sucking money" out of people... that shouldn't be the way you look at it. I'm not just "sucking money" out of people, instead I'm building large communities that are helping me grow in the gaming industry (this wasn't my original plan).

So when you say "that's all that matters".... I don't agree. Unless you are saying that "making a month" means the value I'm receiving out of it as well.

Oh and to note, sometimes I don't directly promote on my page, instead I lead them over to another page where I promote affiliate/cpa. With a small fanbase of 300 fans I gained on a page I've earned more than $0.50 per fan ($150). Ooo lookie there, that's my ad spend

      Profit. Value. Experience.

      Future.

    • I bet you love sucking regularly

  • Thanks justin to share a informative information to grow up the facebook visitor and earn a lot of money . i will be follow your instruction and increase the visitor the visitor for the website.

  • Thanks for the tips! Good post. If anyone has a large FaceBook page with lots of interactive users let me know if you are interested in mentioning my page for payment.
  • What sort of CPM bid did you start with?
    • [1] reply
    • My original CPM was around $0.26 which to me at the time was amazing. Especially since I had a different campaign setup with a CPC of around $0.42

It didn't take long to lower my CPM, especially when using Google Trends and news outlets to figure out what people were interested in at the time.

I do, but I don't see that happening if you aren't active.

Your page hasn't been updated since the 14th of March and prior to that March 4th.

The biggest problem I see in this industry is the lack of doing anything. To be honest it maybe takes you 2 minutes to update your page, even with something complex it doesn't take very long on Facebook, so stay active.

If you fall off.. your previous audience will as well, I've seen it happen to pages with 50,000+ fans suddenly no longer active because they stopped for 2 months.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • hm... makes you wonder
  • I literally just joined the forum because of this post

First off Justin - Thank you very much for sharing your story and information, it's just great that you've done this and is much appreciated.

I tried this tactic yesterday and have a couple of questions.... I set up a CPM advert with a £10 budget across 2 days (Approx $15). The page I set up was GTA V fans...(Sorry for not producing something a bit more original!) and the advert itself was a youtube video of the trailer.

Here's what happened: The video received 274 views and the page received 33 likes. The CTR was 8%.

Here's the problem: The advert was 'optimized' for a whopping £2.55 CPM ($3.88)...Therefore the cost per like was $0.46.

Should I have set the bid for CPM myself rather than allowing Facebook to optimize the CPM??? I also set up an advert to test a simple 'like' to the page, however it's still not been accepted...But I will let you know the results.

I want to keep testing the experiment and seeing how far I can take it, but obviously that CPM cost if far too expensive.

Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks.

    • Hey Russ!

I'm moreso glad you enjoyed it than anything else.

Let me know how it works for you and if you achieve any great (or poor) results from the strategy. I know from my experience and others that it takes a bit of optimization before they convert amazingly.

      - Justin
  • This is a really interesting one. This would be a helpful information as well as case study for new beginners.

  • Hi Justin,

thank you for post. I have a few question:

    1) What is your CTR?
    2) You said 2.5 dollar per campaign. What is good CTR to run and pause ads?

    Thank you
  • That is an AWESOME post! That is a ton of useful information

  • Justin,

Did you pick specific groups to advertise to, narrowing your target market in your demographics to "gamers," "halo 4 fans," etc...?
    • [1] reply
    • I targetted the audience that made the most sense.

For example, Halo 3, Halo 2, Halo Reach, etc.

Any of the games directly associated with the future game
      • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • What's funny is I found a lot of random marketers were already fans of the page without even knowing who I was xD Once they realized I was the admin they flipped out haha.

I'm also targeting many other games including GTA 5, Gears of War, Angry Birds, Call of Duty, etc.

  • Just wanted to jump back in and thank Justin Lewis for this thread. I have used it over the last few weeks and have finally refined my campaign to where I am getting page likes for less than 1 cent.

And they are US likes too.

Now it's time to up my spend!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • You rock!

Keep it up and aim for even less and more likes

When you do up your spend though, watch and see when and if your CTR goes up or down.

If your CTR starts going down drastically, try different ads (slightly different) with the same target.

  • wow! Great share thanks... im using the syndication strategies through my tribe on Facebook and im going to use this as well.
  • This will definitely bring more clients and customers. This is an advantage for people like me who has a small business online. This will be a big help since we will have a bigger range of market. One way to sell a lot is to create a large amount of people who are interested with your products. Thank you for the advice, this is a big help.
  • Ok, thanks. It seems to have settled down to about 2 cents per like after 24 hours, so I am going to let it run for a few more days before I touch it. Hopefully can get it back down to 1 cent at the higher campaign spend.
  • This is very interesting which you shared
    Thanks
  • That's the first interesting and useful post i enjoyed reading. It was a huge guide but overall it was a nice guide. What can we do if we want only some targeted country fans from specific places ?
    • [1] reply
    • w00t!

I'm honored to have that privilege.

IF you are extremely targetting an individual area, then you definitely need to keep optimizing your ads until you are getting a higher CTR. No matter what you do, the higher the CTR the better.

  • What I want to know is if there is an official facebook keyword tool. I've been playing with facebook search to get traffic specifically from their search engine. I noticed that I get organic likes now from time to time and I do nothing on the page really but people are searching related words in my page title and page url.
    • [1] reply
    • I can't say for certain that there isn't..

But the ad campaign tool gives just as much value to know what people are searching for. You just have to find what interests people have.

For example, there are "interest" topics that come up that people type out manually but there aren't actual pages in place for them, you could get a lot of fans off of things like that
  • Interesting! I have two dog pages for two different breeds. I got 5000 likes for one and 4000 for the other in three days each, for a total ad spend of less than $10 per page. Very engaged fans, only US, Canada, UK and Australia. "Talking about this" varies between 60% and 150% on the two pages.

I also have a couple of adult pages, the largest with 40 000 likes, growing by 10 000 per month. The adult pages are 100% organic but has taken about 6 months to get to where it is now.

At the moment, I'm making $400 per month on the adult pages (3 pages) and the first month I have earned about $100 on the dog pages. Not huge money, but I spend almost no money on them and very little time.

    • And the beauty is that your profits can be increased with optimization and working on your conversions. Heck, if you're growing at 10,000/mo and making $400/mo at the moment you can increase that $1,000/mo quite easily.
  • Just to chip in here, I've known Justin for some months now and he's very much the 'real deal'....I hit him up fairly often to get advice and he
's helped me to grown my page from 12k to 213k!!!!

Justin you are and always will me 'Da man'!
  • A little bit tough but practical. Thanks for sharing such information.
  • Hi Justin,
I have one page with over 5 million likes and another one with over a million.
I'm looking for people with big facebook pages like yours,
I got a new page "Xbox One" that at the moment have 27,000 likes (The biggest Xbox One page), and am wondering if you maybe would be up for something like share 4 share?
Since your page is directed to Xbox gamers and I have the Xbox One page.
  • Nice to read it but how can i make fb likes is not clear.
  • It told me the minimum max spending you can do on a budget for a campaign is $61
    • [1] reply
    • That's insane.

      What was your target audience??
      • [2] replies
  • Running a new campaign with four ads maxed out at $4 a day is is pretty successful so far thanks to your help, just split testing by changing images. This is my first campaign and so far have gotten 3 cents per like and 10 cents per like. Thanks
  • Thank You for sharing this, i have tried the Facebook CPC and trust me it Su k or maybe i really dont know what am doing, but i will surely try this steps out.....
  • Great post!

So who is going to make a Halo 5 Facebook Fan Page? .... no one?

    Okay, brb.
  • How do I get some targeted fans from Japan and Australia?!
  • Just got an additional 100+ likes for today! Averaging at 3 cents per like
  • Pretty impressive and I think this way anybody can get organic likes and good fan following!!
    excellent stuff to share
  • I had someone come to me yesterday and share this...

"I used your strategy that you posted on the Warrior Forum about Facebook. I started out with a cost of around $0.74 per like and my ad spend per day was around $20. I then tweaked my campaigns thanks to your post and went from $0.74 to just under $0.07!!! I wish I had known about this sooner because I've spent so much money and had very poor results and now I'm spending 1/10 of my daily ad spend and getting the same results?! Thanks Justin :]"

    • 7 cents is still incredibly expensive if a person hasn't figured out a way to monetize the heck out of the fans. That means $1,000 of ad spend will give him 14,000 fans, which isn't a lot of fans when it comes to monetizing them since a huge percentage will never buy anything and since the marketer likely doesn't know how to monetize the rest of the fans well.
      • [1] reply
    • Thanks for the help Justin, now at 1 cent per like

  • That post was incredible - honest, succinct, & informative. I'm putting it to use for all my pages right away!

    • Any update on your success since you starting using this method?
  • What a journey! I agree that facebook fan pages are quickly becoming a decent alternate source for generating traffic other than from search engines.
  • It is a great way to get good results .

  • Great post. However should you could also choose to get all the work done for you. By employing rare social media service providers who are genuine and offer strictly only real value adding services. Though this is my field, this is not a sales pitch. Just sincere reality.
  • Thanks a lot for this Justin. Going to try this over the next few days.
  • Wow it's a very good thing you share i like it so much.
  • That is really great ideas to increase likes on Facebook pages. I really appreciate it. My question is - how you are generating revenue from Facebook page?
  • Very useful post thank you
  • Good strategy, I'll give it a go
  • Epic tip Justin!

130 likes just one day after my ad was approved!

    Keep up the good work

The most important is to turn your followers and your likes fans into paying (returning) clients
who buy from you again and again

There are few tools that are awesome at this goal:

    BufferApp
    HootSuite
    SocialFanMonster
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Fantastic thread!

And that is brilliant - "Don't just build a page to have a page... build a page to build a reputation and use that reputation to create products/courses/services to support your audience."

I've created a botnet wich contains of 1,5k fake profiles. I have +600k targeted friends on profiles. Now i want to reach 1 million and then promote my Facebook music page. I want to get 100k fans. My target is to sell music to them.
  • Nice and i am gonna try this!
  • thanks, that amazing information, nice info
  • Thank you for the tips.

Is it at all possible to create a quick video guide on how to create CPM campaigns? I can't figure out how the Ads Manager works... I only get CPC options.
  • I would be interested with JV with you.. Will you be interested with it
  • So you actually work for facebook.

One of the fastest ways to lose all your hard earned money is to go for the "facebook ads campaigns" mirage

I have never experienced a faster emptying of my credit card as it was when I naively started a facebook ads campaign

Twitter brings by far better and bigger sales, and without doing any spending on advertising:
