I have a huge FB fanpage but something is not right

Hey everyone, I got a huge facebook fanpage with 800k likes and I have been doing stuff on it for the last 3-4 months. I post awesome content every hour and I was posting 1-2 links a day to my money site which just has images and adsense ads. I made probably $140 last month but people with pages just as large as mine claim to make 200 a day with adsense.

I figure maybe I jumped the gun too quick and started posting links to my site too soon? The page did sit idle for almost a year until my sister (who owns the page) discovered that her page had so many likes. So I figure just to stop posting links to my money site and keep posting content (memes, images, current news, etc.)

But, it just seems like my level of reach to my audience isn't going any higher. I am losing more fans while gaining 20 percent of new fans compared to losing fans. My content is mostly unique but I see people posting such generic content and getting more likes and further reach. What the heck is going on? What am I doing wrong?

Don't share just links, share images with no links, but few of them would include links, also status messages have more reach than the link/images/videos, try status sharing, and images without links.

I don't think many people want to click on a money site with just adsense ads.. also you need to be active on the page and not just promote it with links... Engagement is the highest form of conversions!

Well, here is the deal with Facebook pages...

Up until a few months ago, any post you made on your timeline (plain text, image or link) would get about 20% of visibility of your whole fan base... that means that if you you got 10000 fans, about 2k people would get an impression of your post.

But with Facebook coming up with the "sponsored stories" advertising program, they lowered this ratio....

TODAY, plain text post will get between 8-10% of visibility...... while images will get between 3-5% and links will only get between 1 -3%....

All with the intention to make you pay to increase the visibility of a specific post...

So if your page has 800k "fans", your links will be showing to about 8000 people at most..Am i right?

There is nothing you can do to increase that number of impressions... unfortunatelly...

If the content you are posting on your fanpage is directly related to the images on your money site AND the ads are directly related to those image. Then you "might" be able to increase your revenue.

So you have a sports themed fanpage, the money site is all about great sports photos and the ads are all related to sports services/products. That will get you more clicks but if your fanpage, site and ads are general in anyway, the conversions and money will drop off quite quickly. Things like this idea are getting saturated a bit and the general way of doing it is not working as good.

Also, if you are "Just" doing this with out experimenting, changing things, adding things and tracking/testing. They you will never ramp up to a higher dollar amount. IM is all about testing, changing and adapting....

Lastly, what % of your 800k fans are actually targeted fans for your niche? That is the % that you will be working with to make your money, not the whole 800k....

So the page has 800k likes, but how many people are talking about it, check the demographics section and check all of this out. It's important, you need to see where most of your fans have come from, check the ages/sex of the fans as well to get a better understanding of who to target.

If you have a page with 800k likes, but there is no many people talking about it, really you have nothing but a dead page etc....

  • You should also try joining or participating in other FB groups related to your niche and commenting on relevant posts. This would give you a bigger audience and help establish online credibility.

On top of my head? you are posting too much! Once an hour is not optimal for facebook, it's too much. You may be considered a spammer, your posts won't show up as much on other people's feeds. Don't post links everyday, that's boring for the community. Do not post links solo, post images that have your link in the description. test, test, test, adapt. Good luck.

This is so wrong and not based on reality.

Because of EdgeRank, only a small fraction of fans see a post. So posting once an hour is not too much at all. In fact most of the really successful fan pages are posting at least that often.

If the content is good, fans won't feel like its spam anyway.

I agree with Amidala - the frequency of posts is a touchy area. You need to provide fresh content, but you can't push it out too fast. Your setting off red flags.

I never got 800,000 fans in a few months, this page is 3 years old, it was my sisters page, and the likes she got were natural. The page was sitting idle for almost a year, I am bringing it back to life. And I post engaging content daily, I only post 3 links a day to my money site, the rest are pictures and related posts for viewers to engage with.

Don't get us wrong, we are trying to help. 3 links a day is too much, I would totally unlike you or hide you from my feed - I do social media professionally and I have college education in new media, everything points out to this : post relevant content, often but not too often, do not oversell. Of course you do whatever you like, but this is my professional opinion and is backed up by many other professional strategists. Good luck.

Well you say posting every hour is too much, but from what I understand (correct me if I am wrong) but when your fanpage says "324.435 people talking about this" on your page it shows how much edgerank your page has. I've seen pages with higher "talking about this" but lower fans get their posts seen more by viewers. So I figure if I keep the "talking about this" high then my edgerank will have more value. It's just a theory but I've come to that conclusion based on what I have seen and compared.

Dude stop posting. You ave absolutely no idea what you're talking about. If done right and with tact, a page could post 5 links a day and not seem spammy.
