Using Facebook page to drive traffic

Does anyone have a Facebook page that generates a significant amount of website traffic for them? Could you please post it here (or PM if you don't want everyone seeing it), or share your methods? I have a page with a fair few likes (over 1000) and it's quite active (over 200 'talking about'), but visitors tend to stick to the FB page and not hop over to the website the page is supposed to be promoting...

I have created many successful business fan pages and the best way I got conversions was to engage with my fans; Funny Pictures, Quotes, Sayings, Deals... Off-Topic Post etc... You have to lighten up the page and not just post business links and "serious" business mumbo jumbo..
Laughter creates a good mood.. then people will be willing to spend.. ! Come in smooth with a personalty then get serious when they engage in your business.

There's a classic method for this, here's how it runs:

    1) Create a blog post on your own blog (or web site) with a nice clickable headline - for example "Seven ways to make money you probably never thought of". Just an example - for really good examples of killer headlines look at cracked.com or buzzfeed.com

You can also make the post a re-share of another post that has already gotten proven social buzz. Just write a few lines of summary text and then post their link under it.

    2) Purchase a $1 image from istockphoto or fotolia which has mass appeal and totally relates to your content. Put it in the blog post.

    3) Share the *image* (using "add photos / video" - important) on your FB page together with the headline, link and call to action, as follows:

Seven ways to make money you probably never thought of:

    *Link*

Call to action (i.e. "pls share", "click link to learn more" etc

    *Image*

Boom! That's one good way to do it. Also be sure to have social buttons on your own site.

I have found that the more you "go big" with your original blog article and write a really awesome post, the more viral interest it will generate.

Here's an example: These guys are the 'grand masters'. 800,000 likes and driving all the traffic to product sales etc. My wild guess is this is a $500k-$1M per year business:

    I have my page: https://www.facebook.com/Halo4Fans

It's directed towards a major video game and has given me opportunities with game developers, companies, and also helped me get in contacted with people that usually wouldn't reply back.

Anywho, point is, it definitely helps send a massive amount of traffic to sites when I use it. I shared a post the other day that brought around 12,000 people to my site in 24 hours.

The fb page that I work with is fairly large (20k+ likes). I find the best way to get traffic going is to post a basic link on the fb page that pops up with a small image. I've heard claims that facebook prioritizes how many people see a pages post depending on what type of post it is (links get less exposure than text posts which in turn get less exposure than images). I've actually found that the opposite is true for me, links are always seen by the most people.

Now there is however a big problem: Like attrition. I always lose a bunch of likes when I post something. Improving the quality of the posts has helped me but my feeling is there will always be a certain amount of like attrition. Currently I am trying to work on making the page sustainable by making sure that the amount of traffic it generates is sufficient to fund a like surplus.

There is also a totally different strategy that may or may not apply to what you are marketing. Pages in the fashion industry are less interested in generating traffic and instead want to create an image when they post. So they purely post photos. Some will water mark the photos with a link but essentially rather than driving traffic directly they are enforcing a certain image with the people who like them which is meant to make them more receptive. Of course this is far more difficult to quantify but I can see how it could work if you have a unique brand that relies on visuals and represents a certain lifestyle.

That's interesting. In my experience, images have the furthest reach, with links probably last. You're lucky more people are seeing your links!

Like attrition isn't something I've really noticed. Why would people unlike your page when you post new content? Is what you post controversial?

Watermaking images is something I may well try...thanks for the idea!

Well it's a humor page and I post quite aggressively (once a day) as I've calculated it makes me the most money. I think people just get agitated when too many updates show up in their feed, especially when they're links. I'd say you're lucky if you aren't loosing likes!

The best way I've experienced to drive traffic using Facebook is using dedicated applications installed in tabs. You can install like gate to win extra fans and you can generate traffic to sales page or website.
