I am confused between Google Plus for personal and business.

I operate a local company, do most people set up a Google Plus account under their personal name or business name?

I am in the process of verifying my Google Plus Local Page for my business, I want to optimize on my local SEO with all the social media platforms.

A Google Plus Local Page is different from a Google + for business right?

Thanks

    here you go...
Pages are for businesses, brands, organizations and public figures; profiles are for people.
Pages can’t add people to circles until the page is added first or mentioned.
The default privacy setting for elements on your Business Page is public.
Pages have the +1 button (similar to Facebook Page’s like button), profiles don’t.
Profiles can +1 Business Pages and any content on the Web with a +1 button, Business Pages can’t.
Profiles can mention people in comments, Pages can only mention people who’ve already added or mentioned them.
Profiles can play games, Business Pages can’t.
Pages don’t have the option to share to Extended circles.
Pages don’t receive notifications via email, text or in the Google bar – yet.
Pages can’t start or join hangouts – yet.
Pages have no analytics module – yet.

You can now create Google Plus business pages devoted for your business enterprise or anything promotional. And you can create several pages with your own personal account.

It should be under your business name if it is for your business. And under your name if it is for personal use like with having an FB profile.

You can also create the profile under your name and create your google plus page for your business. Either way it doesn't really matter which you choose. If I were you though I would rather put up the business name for both the profile and page you will be creating in order to gain more exposure for the business.

And yes that is correct, a Google plus local page is different from a Google plus for business.

To clarify, Google+ Local (formerly Google Places) is a separate listing from a Google+ Business Page. They can be linked to the same profile or separate. You should have both for your business, but you are permitted to create and use as many different Google+ accounts as you like. Each will be linked to a Gmail email address. So if you prefer to keep your business separate from your personal account you may consider setting up a separate Google account / Gmail / Google+ etc. strictly for your business.

    1. Start with a personal gmail account, I advise you make this account as real as possible... real name, real profile photo, relevant username eg joe.blogs@gmail as opposed to my.business@gmail.

    2. Setup authorship of your site using this account.

    3. Create a new page (home - more - pages - create page) using the same acct.

    4. Verify your page by connecting it to your site.

    5. Setup google places currently being upgraded to google+ local using the same acct (home - places - create)

From here you can manage everything using the same login.. post personal stuff to your G+ profile, business stuff to your biz page, manage reviews on G+ Local etc.

A few other things you may want to add using this login is webmasters, analytics and adwords. You can even setup an alias in gmail so that you can reply to business emails directly and have it show from your business name even though its a personal email.

    Hope this helps, good luck
