Should I build a base on facebook first or build my website.

Hi to the members on the Warrior Forum

The question is as simple as the title. I plan on pitching internet marketing to my niche,as an incentive to join the "club" I'll be offering free offline marketing materials, such as prizes business cards , flyers etc.

At this time I currently have only 51 facebook likes.., but , wait don't leave yet!

I'm sure by following the skills put forth on this side of the forum, I'm sure I can get that number up rapidly.

So, with that been said, should I beef up my social presence ie facebook, blogs, twitter etc, before launching my products, or should i go with some sort of website, social themed platform?
At one point in IM they were saying always build the site first for content matters, but that was years ago is this till true?

    No replies?

I thought my question was rather straight forward and simple. I was told that IM was an awesome up sell to any list if not many.

In regards to this side of the forum I see that membership sites are not a major answer point, so i figure the two "social marketing and membership sites" don't go together.

So I'll ask this way should I build a website or an online presence first, I know both are important, but which is the proper one to do first?

Hi be active in your social sites and in the mean time develop your website and post some updates about the website. If you concentrate on the both side it will produce the more effects.

I agree, try and do both at the same time. But I would focus more time on the website if you can.

What i'm doing at the moment is waiting to build a big enough community on my Facebook page. Once i have an active backing from FB i will begin to develop the website version. That way it should be fairly easy to gain traffic to the website.

The great thing about Facebook pages are that you can acquire massive communities with minimal effort over time.

    Hope that helps

You could always buy some likes. They aren't very high quality, but they do help in making your page look more successful.

Based on my experience, when trying to brand a business Niche, I would first build a strong social network, hand out teasers, examples, samples and slowly intrigue your audience while slowly building your network then once you have a desired audience I would do a press release. Then you will have a better chance at sales when you have a strong influence on them.

    Cheers,

From an SEO stand point, if you're going to be going after organic SE traffic in the long run, build your site and put content on it before you do anything else. Domain age matters, indexed content matters.
