Hi guys,

Today I'd like to share how I managed to get more than 2,000 new fans to my FB page in one single day. I hope it will give you some ideas to develop yours

As you may know, people are sensible to incredible or "touching stories". These kind of posts are easily liked, shared, which gives you a lot of exposure.

So what I did was pretty simple: I browsed the web, looking for something really original and "touching" to share. I used Google image in order to find great images. It is really important to have nice pics because this is what will attract people.

Quickly, I managed to find a pretty nice story about the friendship of a man and a crocodile. I gathered couple of nice pics and put them together using Photoshop.

Then, I tried to find a nice article about this story in order to share it with the images.

Job done. I posted the story on my page and other big pages. Booom! The image went viral and got shared by more than 11,500 people. It resulted in attracting more than 2K new fans to my page IN ONE DAY.

Here is the image/story I am talking about (you might have already seen it): Amazing Story

This kind of success can be easily duplicated. It only requires spending some time to find something original and gathering great photos. My page now has around 65K fans and keep growing.

I hope you enjoyed my share and found it useful and motivating

Keep up the great work guys!

Ben

UPDATE

----------------------------------------------------------------------

YOUR PAGE:

1) Create your page and add a nice/professional timeline banner and avatar (this is really important to "stand out").

2) Then, start adding a lot of high quality contents to your page. Why? Simply because this is how you create value. As you may know, people will "like" your Facebook page only if they find value in it. Having great contents is definitely the way to do it.

3) Diversify your posts. For example, I will share a beautiful photo of Italy. Then, my next share will be (for example) a funny picture where I ask my fans to find a great caption for it. This is a great way to keep your community active. I can then share some great news related to nature ("Algae lamps may soon light up in streets!"...).

---------------------------------------------------

OTHER PAGES

Now it is time to get more exposure by posting your best photos on other big/small pages.

4) Use the Facebook Search bar to find similar pages (in the same niche). Giving that your page is brand new, don't focus only on "big pages". Smaller ones with couple of thousands fans will be easier to convince. Make sure that these pages are active and that their fans correspond to your targeted audience. Check the likes and the comments. If you see that most of them are from Asian people, you may want to choose another page. Then, make a list of all the pages you've found and keep it preciously.

5) Now, start posting your best photos on these pages. Don't spam them. Post only high quality things. The idea here is not only to use these pages to develop yours, it is also to bring value to them.

6) Don't hesitate to send a message to the admins of these pages. Not to ask them to share your page, but to tell them that you love their page(s) and appreciate all the shares. In this way, you will motivate them and admins will start to notice you.

7) When you share a post on other pages, don't forget to "tag" your page in it. To do it, simply use "@" and start typing the name of your page. In my case, I need to write @Amazing World. When you start typing the name of your page, a drop down menu will be displayed, allowing you to choose your FB page (or another one). Then you can do something like:

Join our Page -► @YOUR PAGE HERE ◄- For more amazing photos!

8) After couple of weeks, you can finally start contacting FB page admins and ask them to share your page. I usually send the following message:

"Hey there,

Once again I'd like to congratulate you for your wonderful page. I really enjoy all of your posts and can't stop myself from coming back to your page. As you may have seen, I am pretty active on your page and always try to post high quality photos that will bring value to it.

Couple of weeks ago, I have created my own Facebook page: YOUR PAGE HERE and have been trying to develop it since. I would be really thankful if you could share one of my photos to your fans and invite them to visit my page. This would really encourage me to be even more active!

I hope you will have the time to read my message. Anyway, are doing an amazing work! Keep it up!

Kindest Regards,

Amazing World"

It has been working pretty well for me so far. If you follow all these steps, you will definitely be able to develop your fan base.

Cheers!

  • That is an awesome page. I liked it just because I thought it looked great, amazing photos on there.

How do you monetize it? Or do you?
    • [1] reply
    • Thank you for your kind words Shawnskee. I haven't really started to monetize it yet. I am waiting until reaching 100K fans. Then I will start creating a photography website, allowing people and photographers to share their own photos. I will be able to sell advertising spots on the site (to photographers) and include a "shop" section with products/affiliate offers related to photography.

I am also planning to add a "photographers" section listing some of the most talented photographers. In order to be listed in this section, photographers will be able to pay me to add their bio and site. I will also run some "Photographer of the week" campaigns on the site and on my FB page. During these campaigns, I will share one photo of the chosen photographer, everyday during one week. Each photo will be shared with the photographer details and website. When these campaigns will start to become more famous, I guess photographers will contact me to know how they can be part of it. I can then start to monetize these campaigns as well

Currently photographers are paying me to promote their photos (and sites) on my page. I also use the page to generate couple of sales with some of my brand new sites (selling digital services) and then sell them on Flippa (which is working pretty well so far).

  • In my opinion, one of the best strategy on Facebook is to develop a FB page based on a general niche. Then, thanks to this page, you will be able to lead your fans into a more specific (and targeted) niche page.

Let's suppose that my niche is about dog's training. This niche is definitely specific and because of this, it won't be really easy to attract a lot of fans.

However, the idea would be to create (first) a "general" fan page about a topic including your niche. For example, I would create a page about "dogs", sharing only great quality contents (dog photos, articles, videos and so on). Why dogs? Simply because my niche (dog's training) is included inside Usually, people who are interested in "dog's training" are people who actually love dogs (and have one).

Then I will try to develop this first page about dogs. It shouldn't be too difficult if you focus on sharing high-quality content. Once you've attracted a lot of fans, you can then create another fan page about your specific niche (dog's training) and share posts on your first big page.

Why is it a good thing? Simply because you will be able to communicate among a big audience. A lot of people who love "dogs" have a dog, so it will be easier to attract them on your "niche" page.

The good thing is, given that your first page is "general", you can then use it to attract fans to some of your other niche pages (animal protection, dog and cat products….).

PS: Glad it gives you some new ideas Winagain

    • This is a terrible strategy that will result in a ton of wasted time and resources. Just target people to a dog training page to begin with via FB ads and save yourself a ton of time and money. I can't remember the last time I spent over 4 cents for targeted fans to a FB page via ads.

    • Pretty strange... Did you invite people to like your page? When I share a photo, I usually use the following structure:

Title (title of the pic - should be catchy)

Invitation to join my page: ""

      Description (description of the pic)

Credits (Source, Photographer's name & website - when I can find them)

  • Hey Deezign. Gteat success story. These always motivate me to continue marketing on facebook.

How did you get your FB pages off the ground? Do you start with FB ads?
    • [1] reply
    • Hi Kyle,

Thank you for your kind words. The first step was adding a lot of great photos to my page (because an empty page isn't really attractive). I wanted to have something to show to people. This is why I spent time collecting only the best photos I could find online (using websites such as Flickr, 500px, Earth Shots, National Geographic...).

Then, I started to share my best photos on other big pages (to get more exposure). Admins of these pages started to appreciate my shares (because I wasn't spamming their pages, only sharing high quality pics/info). They started to share my posts and give credits to my page. This helped me a lot to develop my fan base.

I also used Facebook ads (which worked pretty well too).

    • FaceCap, look for the license. You want to make sure they are giving you permission to use the image.
Typically they will have a Creative Commons license that allows you to use and distribute the work.
      It will look something like this;
This file is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.0 Generic license.

      You are free:
      • to share - to copy, distribute and transmit the work
      • to remix - to adapt the work
      Under the following conditions:
      • attribution - You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).
      • share alike - If you alter, transform, or build upon this work, you may distribute the resulting work only under the same or similar license to this one.
You can take a look at it here. About halfway down the page.

      Search under Google creative commons.
You can also use these sites:
      Flickr
      Morgue File
      Vector stock
      Veezle
      Wikki Commons

Just make sure you check the license

    • Wow, great success story there. Do you have other pages made, you know, ones that worked as well? Because this might just be a lucky shot, albeit an inspiring one. I just want to see if the method really works, and whether or not it's worth giving a try. Also, the pictures that you used.. they came from a royalty-free site, I'm assuming? Because if they aren't, well, I would be a bit bothered about copyright issues. Anyway, I just wanted to know if the strategy works in general. I've seen a lot of Facebook posts that went 'viral' and I was wondering if there is indeed a strategy behind it so that we could learn from. But thanks for sharing! It's things like these that keep us going.

    • Deezign,

Thank you for sharing. you are not the first person I've heard doing this. The guy I heard do this was making quite an amount of dough too. He did use the images to drive traffic to his website though. And I like the idea of the content of the pic to drive a targeted audience. Don't see this as rubish or worthless at all.
  • I am interesting in your methods to post your story on other big pages ,
Can you tell more details about it?
    • [1] reply
    • Sure. To give you a concrete example, I managed to find several big pages that are giving credits to other pages (when they post something nice on their wall). One of these pages is: https://www.facebook.com/someamazingfacts

Now, imagine that the post that went viral on my page is now being shared by another big page (where the admin gives credits to my own page and invites his fans to check and "like" my page). Can you see how powerful it is?

The hardest part is to find big and active pages that are used to sharing other people posts (and giving them credits)

  • I have done something very similar using only photos. A great way to attract traffic to your page and to your site. You can even increase the likes of this method by liking peoples comments on the picture.

Don't go to crazy on this, but like the comments that are worthy. The person that made the comment will get notified that you liked their comment which will hopefully attract them back to the page and like it.

There is HUGE potential in a method like the one described. Nice work Deezign!

    • Well, when a post gets viral the response time is almost immediate.
  • The way I would monetize it is to create a site with google ads and drive FB traffic to it. On each status update add a line with something like , "for more amazing pictures/stories click this link ==> www.mysite.com" or "for more detailed info on this story click this link ==> www."
At list this is what I do

  • Thanks for sharing.

May I ask how many fans did you start with before you can use that strategy?

    thanks
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Hi NameThatCandy,

This strategy isn't really depending on the number of fans you have. It is more about the nature (and the quality) of your post. Even if you have only hundreds of fans, if your post goes viral, your fans will share it. Then their friends will share it as well (and so on). This will give a huge exposure to your page.

Regarding your second question, you can make your page a link by tagging it in your post. To tag it, simply use "@" ans start typing the name of your page.

In my case, I would have to type @Amazing World.

When you will start typing the name of your page, a drop down menu will be displayed, given you the possibility to select your page (or another one).

    Hope it helps

    Ben

    • The reason I asked, because I just started a fan page, I don't even have 10 fans yet. So I just don't know will my post be able to go viral with such a small fan bases?

And thanks for the tips for the "page link". I will try it tomorrow.
  • If you have only 10 fans (so far), I would recommend you to share your "viral post" on your page, then use FB as your own profile, visit your page and re-share your post on your own FB Timeline (in this way your friends will also be able to see it - and the post will link to your page anyway).

I would also recommend you to share your post on other big pages for more visibility

  • I wanted to have 100,000 Facebook fans for my blog. I don't have a product to sell. I'm not trying to get advertisers on my blog. I'm not even trying to get more speaking gigs because of my blog. But I believe in the message of my blog and I enjoy having an audience for it. So I wanted to expand that audience.

We have entered the "Choose Yourself" era. No longer do you have to wait for the big media companies to reach down from the heavens and bless you with a column, a book advance, a TV show, a job, a career, money, or even customers. In 2008 the tide came in, the financial system collapsed, and we saw that the myth of corporate safety was just another example of the brainwashing that we had undergone since we were kids.

[See also: "Self-publishing your own book is the new business card"]

Now, if you want to spread the truths of your brand, of your ideas, of your products, of your message, you have to create your own platform, you have to spread it across all media, and then you have to manage each medium differently. I can't just link my blog posts on Facebook. Or tweet links to my posts on Twitter. Your message has to be spread across the entire digital landscape and treat each medium as its own channel, with your message, formatted, designed, and massaged to have the greatest impact in that particular channel.

    • [1] reply
    • To contact page admins, you need to be logged in as yourself (personal FB account). If you are logged in as your page, you won't be able to see the "Message" button (usually located next to the "like" button).

Please also note that admins have the possibility to display or hide the "message" button. This is why you won't be able to find it on all pages

In any social media sites it's important that you should understand what your followers really want and what you can offer them. You should also try to find out what they think about you and your products and services. You should always learn about your followers needs.

  • I just want to say I have been reading this thread and I used a similar---700 likes in one day!!! I need to keep doing this. Does Facebook limit the amount of posts you can do on other pages---especially if you are posting the same text? Or sending the same text in messages. (I am thinking like Craigslist where they can tell you are sending the same message X times)

Now--I am not monetizing this yet---as I am just getting this page going, but I am going to direct to an ecommerce store--and the people liking my page currently know I sell things. So hopefully we see conversions too!

    • Hi Amanda,

When I share a photo on my page, I always give credit to photographers, adding their name, websites and FB page (when they have one). I do this so they can get more exposure, traffic and... sales. This is why most photographers end up "liking" my page and asking me to share more of their photos Since the creation of my page (in January 2012), I only had one photographer who asked me to remove her photo. When I did it, she apologized and asked me to share it again.
  • Nice work... Don't know if it will work with my health page.
  • If I'd be able to manage real 2000 FB fans then there would be no problem.
  • Excellent post Deezign, I started a facebook page a week ago and only got about 80 likes in the first week but you've given me some good ideas!

You should definately do a WSO when you're ready!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I would definitely say; you have provided the best facebook promotion tips ever i came across.
I will surely gonna apply these tips for my pages.

    Thanks...!!

  • Do you ever find that most admins don't respond to share for share request? I've asked a lot of pages in the weight loss niche and find no one responds, and I have close to 3k likes, and am asking within my range (give or take 500)...

    • Yes and you need to understand them. Big pages usually receive hundreds of messages from people asking them to share their FB page. The thing is, these persons have never "contributed" to their FB page. They just come and ask. This is definitely not "polite" and even I wouldn't promote a page from someone who has never posted anything on mine. If you want big pages to re-share your page, you need to deserve it. You need to show them that you are active and posting quality stuff on their FB pages (without asking them to share your page). This is what I did. It took some time but it paid off at the end
  • "5) Now, start posting your best photos on these pages. Don't spam them. Post only high quality things. The idea here is not only to use these pages to develop yours, it is also to bring value to them."

Are the posts you are making comments within existing posts or are you creating your own posts from scratch and then they go in right side that say "others posts"? I think a lot of page owners shut off photo posting to avoid inappropriate images or copyright issues so was wondering on this.

    • Hi Debbie,

Thank you for your post. When I share a photo (on my page or another one) I always give credits to the photographer, giving his name, website and FB page (when I can find one). This is why photographers usually end up liking my page because I give them more exposure

Regarding your question, I was posting high quality photos on the page directly (not within existing posts). I was spending hours on internet to find awesome (and little known) facts and tried to find photos to illustrate them. Because I was only posting great things, page admins started to re-share my posts (because they realized that I wasn't there to "spam" but to bring value to their page).

You are right, a lot of pages shut off the photo posting function. However, they (usually) do it when they are famous (with hundred of thousands fans). I am personally not planning to do it because a lot of photographers use my FB page to share their work. It is also a great way for me to select new photos to share
  • So YOU'RE the guy who posted that image haha. I saw it like 2 weeks ago on my Facebook.
    Awesome stuff mate!

    • Yes, I have well received your message. I unfortunately can't reply right now because I will be pretty busy these coming days. I will try to send you my reply as soon as I can (I guess this weekend if it isn't too late for you). Or you can add me on Skype and we can talk directly

  • This is an amazing method buddy! Unique process. Images normally attract mass people. And adding proper content is an add-on to it. Keep it up!

  • HI,

Deezign; how many of your 60k(?) fans opt in to your list?

How you build your list on fb- how opt in placement, under every post you make?

Where you get your load of content to post daily on fb? Outsourcing writers?
