You could link your twitter account to your Facebook or email accounts. Create a personal contact list and follow them so they will follow you too. Do not try to follow twitter accounts of famous people, it will get you nowhere. Or, you could pay someone from the gig sites and ask them to get more twitter followers. Best of luck!

There are many ways to get more followers.
    - use hashtags in your tweets, especially mem tags and tags popular at the moment
    - follow people, reply to their tweet, retweet them
    - post tweets that people will want to retweet
    - share valuable content
    - ask effective questions to your followers to engage them
    - post pictures and photos
    - start a contest on twitter
    - follow the top users to see what they are doing and pick ideas from them.

    1. Let them know you exist by following the relevant accounts and biggest players in your niche
    2. Don't spam everyone a link. People can check your timeline with a click on your profile and see your 3 most recent tweets. Do you think they'll follow if you sent the same tweet to them and 50 other people? You may not do this, but some people do.
    3. Tweet interesting stuff. Tweet things worth reading. People don't want to follow a robot, they want to follow a person.
    4. Retweet interesting stuff. Same as above and preferably do it from your existing followers if you can.
    5. Go off topic sometimes. Again we don't want to follow a robot. Or a corporation for that matter. No, corporations aren't people. When was the last time you talked with Coca Cola about relationship problems? This makes you relatable and they'll know a human is running the account.
    6. Why should I follow you? You need to know the answer to this one.

    • 1. Follow follow follow.

      2. Unfollow those that don't follow you back. Use a tool like JustUnfollow - Find and unfollow twitter users who unfollowed me to speed that up.

      3. Tweet like crazy. Use a scheduler so you can set them all up at once. Retweet like crazy.

Do this daily for a few weeks and you should be cooking

I totally agree with this method, If you are tweeting something that is searchable in twitter. You will get quite an extent of followers. But as he says. "Retweet like crazy"

...and you end up with a bunch of people following you who are doing exactly what you are doing and who have no interest in what you're doing and who are hoping you have interest in what they are doing just like you are hoping of them. That's assuming they are actually people and not follow-bots

    Try these things:
    *add only relevant followers
*make use of twitter tools like tools to track your keywords, how to choose the right followers, etc
    *always post to twitter
*avoid sales talk and instead 'humanize' your posts- meaning try to help and connect to people in a personal tone
*also provide shoutouts to your followers

I don't get the point of this at all other than that you are hoping to make a commission with your affiliate link. I checked out your Twitter account and it's useless. It's full of "RT" tweets with 0 engagement from your followers. Why would anyone normal follow you? You look like a spammer/bot. Does this service not do real retweets? Just the quoted "RT" tweets? It looks absolutely useless to me.

Follow other people -- especially those with picture avatars rather than the generic Twitter icon.
Share information that can be beneficial to other users, such as information you learned about a website you tried.
Use the "@reply" method when responding to other people.
Get involved in online events that include #hashtags.
    Refrain from Tweeting too much.

Everyone above has great ideas. I think great ways are to purchase twitter followers if you are trying to build credibility and legitimacy to your account. (check the cig) After this some other creative ideas is doing seo for your page with some good keywords. It should rank relatively fast because twitter has such high authority. You can also be a gues blogger and write some articles for different blogs and website and in your author profiel put your twitter link. This way if the blog post gets ranked well you should have some traffic towards your page!

    Hope i helped!

I wrote a blog post on how to get more Twitter followers here.

Bear in mind I have over 70,000 followers I like to think I practice what I preach. It takes time to build up a loyal following and the key to having a successful Twitter account is by giving value and sharing great content. Do that and you're see the best results.

Don't buy followers... pretty much anyone who's an actual social influencer is using the StatusPeople fake follower check. Once someone has called you out for having fake followers, you lose all credibility.

If you want followers, give something of value worth following. I built up a following of about 11,000 over the last two years - certainly not a "brag worthy" number, but they're real and ENGAGED. They retweet my stuff, they click my links. There is value there. When I launched a new startup recently I had 1,000 signups within 3 days and 2,500 within the week, just by notifying my Twitter and LinkedIn connections.

"ooh, wow, that guy has X followers, he must be important!" -- No one

Fake followers bring no value. Purchased followers bring no value. People on fiverr who buy fake followers, then post gigs claiming to tweet your message to their followers bring no value.

Except that, by their own admission, their fake follower check is not accurate if you have a large number of followers. Read the (very large) fine print. They only check a small sample of your recent followers. Twitalyzer is far more accurate. They are pretty much the gold standard.

The easiest way to check if someone has an engaged audience is to see how many of their tweets are retweeted/favorited and how many people reply/write them. Do the people that RT them look real or are they just people 'Retweeting everything' to get attention?

It's also good to just click on their list of followers and scroll through it. What do you see? Are they real people or people just looking for a followback? Do their followers actually send out real tweets or just follow large numbers of people?

Very true and very common. They prey on the naive. If you are paying for tweets make sure that their audience is right for the tweet otherwise it's useless.

I think that there are a lot of quality blog posts about the subject by people who also have a large amount of twitter followers.

They must be doing something right, so take a look at some of these articles and start doing what they advise.

Google "How to increase twitter followers" or something and you should find some interesting blog posts.

    Good luck

Sure, the accuracy is arguable, but it favors the REAL followers not the fake ones. It's not going to report someone with a bunch of real followers as being 90% fake, but it could overlook some fake followers and count them as real. So while you can't guarantee legitimacy with StatusPeople, you CAN see who the fakers are.

Another good check... compare Facebook and Twitter counts. When you see 200,000 facebook likes and 500 Twitter followers, it's a good bet they're buying Likes, or vice versa. Yes I know they are different audiences, and sometimes you'll get more out of one than the other depending on the nature of what you're posting, but a simple "human check" goes a long way.

But anyway, back on topic... if you want to attract REAL followers, give them something of value. Start with the "trending" tags on the left side of twitter - look at what's trending, say something relevant, and use that tag. Do that regularly and you're likely to pick up a few followers and retweets from there.

      From their FAQ:

      How does it work?
We take a sample of your follower data. Up to 1,000 records depending on how 'popular' you are and assess them against a number of simple spam criteria.

On a very basic level spam accounts tend to have few or no followers and few or no tweets. But in contrast they tend to follow a lot of other accounts.

      How accurate is it?
For those of you with 50,000* followers or less we believe our tool will provide a very accurate insight into how many inactive and fake followers you have.

If you're very, very 'popular' the tool will still provide good insight but may better reflect your current follower activity rather than your whole follower base.

      * This was previously 100,000 but due to the Twitter 1.1 API upgrade we have had to reduce this for the time being.
Pre-API changes I was <10%. Post-API changes I'm between 40% and 50-something%. This changed overnight with the API upgrade and I sure as hell didn't buy any followers during this time. Bottom line is you can't look at a fraction of a percent of total followers and determine with any accuracy who is real or fake.

They are not only different audiences, but it's much easier to get targeted followers on Twitter than it is on Facebook. To some extent I agree, but I can give you 100 examples of where that logic is totally wrong.

It's not about giving something of value so much as it's about being interesting and compelling and real. Sure, you can say that being interesting is something of value, but my point is that Twitter is about interaction. It's not a place to post "announcements" like so many do. Trying to jump aboard what is "trending" is also usually an exercise in futility since there are a massive number of people tweeting about the same thing. Yes, there are more eyeballs, but you'll most likely be buried in the noise that is other people tweeting about the same thing.

If you are new to Twitter do this:

      * Be interesting
      * Be real.
      * Don't sell anything. Help people.
      * Automate nothing while you get started.
      * Don't limit your tweets if you are talking (back and forth) to people.
      * Do limit your tweets if you are constantly promoting your product or blog... to 0.

I definitely do not mean to imply that's all there is to it, but that's how you get started and you always have to do the above even when you are popular.

I've found that it takes an average of 15 tweets per day to start generating interest in your niche. And it's best to send them out when your audience is most active. A great little tool to do all of this is Buffer.

Okay following others is the best way to target followers.
You will want to pick out a few leaders in your industry and follow their followers.
If you follow too many too fast you can get your account suspended. You used to be able to follow around 250 a day, now it is best to keep it under 150 I find.
If you follow the people who RT that person tweets it is more targeted than just following their followers out right.
You can unfollow unfollowers and you will want to for many reasons. You can use JustUnfollow.com but I have had some problems with them, besides they cost too much now. So instead I check everyday if I can direct message them. 99.99% of the time that means they are following me back, if not I unfollow them. Then I sometimes check friendorfollow.com to unfollow more recent unfollows.
I have found using #teamfollowback works but the quality follower is definitely less targeted and responsive. I suppose there is always a chance that if you know the #teamfollowback ground intimately you might be able to sell them something based on their interests, maybe cell phones or some kind of hip hop music or dating site or something.

If you just want to have more followers for the look, there are plenty of cheap mycheapjobs and fiverr sources that will load your followers section with bots to make it look like you have a huge following for like $5 or $10, but if you want to buy legitimate followers, I would probably best trust a site like justunfollow.com or better yet what I would actually use is twiends.com.
If the site promises they will never unfollow you that probably means 99.99% chance they are not really REAL.
I hope that helps if so please press thanks; It will help my profile. Thanks!

This is all great advice. The one piece of advice I see repeating is CONSISTENCY. If you want long-term results that pay off it will take time to gain followers. Identify who the major players are in your niche and follow their followers. Then find the best times to tweet your messages based on location. Tweet about 4-5 times a day and don't just tweet out sales messages, you have to really engage in conversations with people. If you use something like Twilert, it will send you an email to let you know who has engaged with your tweets. It's important to tweet back to those that mention, retweet, or favorite your tweets. Hashtags are crucial, you can find a lot of relevant info by using the advanced search feature on twitter so use it wisely.
