I'm building a site. I want to add the "Invite Friends" module that allows the user to grant access to their email account. But I'm just debating if I should have this as part of the signup process or if I should just have it as a feature in the users account. The sign up process requires the user to already go threw a few steps, so to add one more I fear might turn some people off. But at the same time to get access to there email account could be extremely valuable. Does anyone have any experience with this?

The options I can think of are:
1) add it to the sign up process
2) add it just as a feature in the users account
3) both?

    If you are requiring users to invite friends it could get ugly. If you are wanting to use the feature as an optional sign up feature it would be perfectly harmless. A sharing feature might be more beneficial than an invite feature?

    I agree with CDawson. It would be way better for you to add this as an option. Don't worry, if you are posting great contents on your site, people will definitely share it
