I Finally Got $0.00 CPC with FB ADS! Don't Give Up, It's Possible!

by Eric S
59 replies
After a little of trial and error, I was able to finally get the coveted $0.00 cost per click with facebook ads. To be honest, I was just shooting for $0.01 or $0.02 per click, but some how some way, I found a formula that's working for me consistently to get virtually free clicks. Granted it's not free, but it's closer to $0.00 than it is to $0.01, so facebook rounds down!

Check out this screen shot:

Has anyone else had luck with this? From what I had heard, this was virtually impossible now, but apparently not, if I can figure it out. I'm not targeting scrub words and interests either, they are on spot with my niche and the ROI has been great so far!

From what I can tell, the target interests and your picture have a lot to do with it. If you can start with a pretty good CTR (click through rate), then they'll keep dropping it down until you're almost paying nothing! I have repeated it with more than one campaign so far.

Just wanted to post this as motivation to let you know it can be done! Don't give up on tweaking your ads and finding what works and only making it better!

that's insane. I always hear people complaining about facebook campaigns costing too much. I guess it's trial and error.

Yeah, it really is, I've done this for nearly 30 days straight now with the original campaign and in new campaigns that I've added since then. I've had 2 or 3 days mixed in with $0.01 per click, but every other one has said $0.00 on CPC.

For a limited budget and/or niche, I believe they are on the expensive side compared to other advertising arenas.

Congrats. That's great and thanks for sharing. Facebook ads can work great, $5 is minimal for the value you got in return. Like you pointed out, most times, getting a good CPC rate is about trial and error, making adjustments over time and working with the budget options to control spending until your flying.

        All the best.

It's really not nearly impossible, there is some method behind the madness. I'm to the point now where I can set up campaigns in different niche and achieve these same results. Just keep testing different ad variations.

It depends on the niche, but you'd be hard pressed to find any other kind of advertising that you can get a click for 1 or 2 cents. Other forms may provide you with more targeted "buyer" prospects with credit card in hand, but these prospects are still targeted to the niche.

Hey guys, I'd be happy to elaborate on it as much as I can without giving away my exact keywords, etc. Based on the strategy I'm using though, I've been able to do it with different campaigns and keywords, so I don't believe it was just isolated to my one niche. That said, I don't want to talk about it with exact details and then have thousands of people going after the same keywords and using the same ads word for word and kill my market.

If there's enough interest though, I'll spend some time breaking down exactly what I'm looking for as far as interests, what I'm doing with my picture to make it stand out, how I'm bidding, and all the other details. It would take me a little time to sit down and type it all out where someone could take it and try it without missing a step or not getting all the info.

Just an update. In the past couple days I've added 2 more campaigns and both have achieved 0.00.

A little tip, if you start out your campaign, use the optimized option that facebook gives you to determine your bid. And if during the first day, you're paying more per click than you want to, ride it out. Just set your daily budget lower. Once you reach your budget and get to the second day, things will change if facebook has determined that your ad is performing good. 100% of my $0.00 campaigns have happened on the 2nd day after I was just paying a higher CPC the day before.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm going to have to look at Facebook ads more seriously.

How much previous experience did you have with PPC? Would you say you are a Google Adwords expert?

Well I say PPC, but you're not paying per click or even paying at all. Just shows what optimization can do. You would have thought a business would want to round up the numbers no matter what.

My lowest has been around $0.0025 per click, which is $0.00

I think some people are confused by the "$0.00" number and think you're not paying anything at all.

I usually average around $0.01 - $0.02 but even $0.09 isn't terrible, especially if you're building the traffic to a fb page.

Yeah, $0.00 is not free, but it is less than half a cent. As you'll see in the screen shot above, I only paid $5 but had over 2700 likes.

And to answer the other question, I had absolutely no experience in it really. Very little, but by very little I mean I have tried it before (adwords, facebook ads, etc.) and was spending way more money than I made, so I shut it down quick.

      Congratulations on that!

Facebook deffinetely favors internally linked (fan page) ads more than external links. People often don't realize how cheap it could be to grow their fan pages with ads and think they have to rely on viral traffic only.

The lowest I've been able to get is $0.04. So not as good as some of the results above, but the ads are converting into both likes and clicks, so I can live with $0.04

I was wondering what type of ads you are using to get these rates (maybe I missed it)? Are they sponsored stories, like campaigns, other? I've had the best results so far with "post engagement" ads.

    Thanks!

    Hi Eric and Justin,

Congrats on your success with those clicks. I don't know what your FB pages look like but I know you can build squeeze pages on FB. Have you tried those almost free campaigns with squeeze pages too or is it impossible to get such CPC?

I haven't done much FB advertising so I'm asking to know if there are some special requirements for FB pages to make this work.

    Thanks!

I have only tried it with FB pages. I imagine it would be much more difficult to do it to an outside squeeze page, but I'm not sure if you built your facebook page to act like a squeeze page. Perhaps I'll have to get around to trying this.

Hey Eric, thanks for your reply. Let me know if you do this.

I think we have to install an HTML app to the FB page, then add the squeeze page code and form. I'll try to create one, I don't know which app is better.

There are few ones that allow you to create a page under a tab, instead of using an iframe. I guess then you can choose this tab to be the "front-end" of your FB page.

        Thanks again.

In my opinion you shouldn't just jump on the bandwagon of everyone else and expect that to be the only option.

Everyone was teaching me originally to do sneaky tactics that would increase my CTR when in fact it only took a few small tests of legit practices to understand how Facebook ads work.

You should definitely pay for impressions to see if you can hit it big early on (it happens and you could save a lot of money).

The reason I say this is because if you pay for clicks you might get a good understanding of which ads have a higher CTR but your costs will be high right off the bat (sometimes $0.75 per click?!).

But with impressions you can get high quantities of impressions and pay far less for the clicks on your ads.

Many times those clicks can be below $0.10 and if you're lucky early on you might even get below $0.02 after only a little bit of practice.

Ya know how they say practice makes perfect? Well practice trying out different things and see where it goes

Doh!! I missed the part where he said it was US traffic.

Eric S - Are these "Like" campaigns? or Promoted Posts?

I'm guessing they are Like campaigns bc i've achieved likes for 1 or 2 pennies.

But not with CPM and not with promoted posts. Not yet at least

    Thanks for the share.

You too Justin for sharing your data.

Due to the nature of my marketing, I'm perfectly fine with paying .04-.06 per click because I'm focusing on immediate ROI, and Likes and Optins are a byproduct of the process.

But I still want to experiment with this for a couple of new pages I'm building.

    These are ad campaigns.

CPM is definitely my only go to model for below penny clicks as well.

In my experience Promoted Posts just don't have high "like" ratios.. they can be great for brand awareness and product launches.. but overall likes I haven't seen many people gain much from them without spending a lot of money.

And you might be fine with paying $0.4 - $0.06.. but $0.0025 - $0.0075 is just SOOOOOO much more exciting

Like I said in my previous post, Likes aren't my priority so I get them for whatever I get them for.

One campaign which is one I've been riding since June has gotten me likes at about 24 cents per like, however for every dollar I spend on that campaign I've gotten about $2.40 cents back in revenue.

Thats what I am after - the immediate ROI.

My goal is to have 10 of these campaigns running that I can just keep milking profits from day in and day out.

Likes will come as a byproduct.

But I get what you guys are doing too and I'm very impressed. So much so that i'm gonna go for it on the next page I start building up.

        Right on dude

I would like to toss on that one of McDonalds very simple.. but crucial elements of their profitability is the fact that they raise things by a few cents.

Those few cents, when in mass turn into outrageous profits. And $0.23 is a lot of extra income (10% of your overall). It's kinda like a 10% pay increase.

But hey, if you aren't focused on it, that's fine too. Do what makes your business work

This is really great news, do you mind if I ask a few questions as I'm struggling with FB ads. I got a fan-page with 5,000+ likes full of real 13~21 year old with the same interest.

I got them by making a video of the niche I am at (its a gaming niche) and making a part by part game tutorial which required them to like my fan-page before they can get to the next part.

    My questions:
    1. Do you use RIGHT PANEL ads?
    2. How do you target your audience? do you use both PRECISE and BROAD categories?
