    G'day citioru!

It does depend on what niche you are in.

If you are the IM or 'Make Money' niche, for example, Google Plus and LinkedIn are full of folks looking to make money. So if you thought LinkedIn was only good if you're looking to switch jobs, think again!

But Pinterest is also good for other niches.

The advantage with FaceBook - and most other social media sites - is you can join or create 'groups'. This helps you to focus on the target prospects for your particular niche, rather than have a scattergun approach.

    Warmest regards,

    Paul

Depending on what your budget is, your options with FB are:

      1) Pages
      2) Groups
      3) Sharing your articles on other FB Pages/Groups

I say "depending on what your budget is", because if you go with a Page, then your posts won't be seen by most of your fans, unless you pay to promote them...which can quickly add up.

Me personally, I've had greater success with Groups...not only will people see everything that's going on, but they feel more engaged and want to contribute. If I posted an article on both my Page and in the Group that I run, more eyes will see it in the Group, and are more likely to click on it and read it (the ultimate goal).

I also share my articles on relevant pages...this has really worked well for me, and I still get traffic from them.

      Best of luck mate!

It does depend on your niche. I engage with my users pretty well in Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ which does lead to clicks. But most of my clicks come from Twitter.

It depends on your niche, demographics and budget.

    Demographics is a big though.

I would say twitter is more casual, Facebook is a all rounder if you want to be specific and things like linked in and google plus seem much more on a professional level.

If I was a new business and was just joining Social Media, I would go for Facebook and Twitter. They are most effective as the main population is there. Pinterest can be a great choice for fashion brands and product based companies.

It entirely depends upon your niche. If my goal would be to build a long-term relationships with my clients and customers, convert 1 time buyers into loyal repeat buyers, and reach new customers, then I would have definitely invested my time in Facebook.

I've noticed a lot more traffic coming from Twitter than FB, both on niche websites and IM blog. But as far as conversion goes, like others said before, it depends a lot on your niche. I really hate G+, but it's gaining a lot of momentum lately...ugh.

Oh, YouTube can be pretty effective according to some of my IM buds (it counts as a SM website, right?) - video reviews, if done right, convert great.

I think that this question can be answered with a little elbow grease. The fact that who is following you and how you are engaging them is a big part, makes it hard to say that one is better than the other. You will simply have to share great content on all and see where you get a bigger response.

If you are going for results in the SERPS the answer is all of them. If you are going to for actual direct traffic, you must begin creating real unique and remarkable content and see where you can make it go viral.

If you are just using tools like HootSuite and hope to get crazy traffic, forget it, you must build real relationships to dominate on social sites.

If you want to work Twitter make sure you list at least 3 Tweets a day for best results.

Also look at the 3 'Who to follow' on your Twitter page, follow them then invite them to follow you. Works for me.

    All the best.

I'd say try them all...You won't loose something only time and effort though. It's definitely worth it once you've set up accounts on each for your business. I have tried facebook first and then twitter and followed by pinterest and instagram and the results are getting better everyday..so I'd say go for those three...

Twitter is probably the easiest and most effective traffic source when it comes to social media. I find that it's easier and cheaper to drive targeted traffic with twitter.

Facebook can work just as well but it does require more work and time as well as more money because for Facebook to be really effective you need to promote and advertise your posts and pages to be able to drive a good amount of traffic.

The ones that "convert the best" are the ones that you try the hardest in. I do well with my Facebook pages, but that's because I don't use shitty auto posting software. I type out my posts by hand and schedule them and talk to my fans...and they reward me for it.

Same with Twitter. NOBODY seems to get that a bunch of lame tweets with your SEO article are a huge bomb on twitter. Nobody cares.....

Ugh, sorry...I went off there for a second.

ALL of them are good if you really try at them. Tumblr works good if you get followers. Facebook is great. I don't mess with Pinterest hype and I only do Twitter for entertainment (not lame seo tweets) so i can't speak for those.

I find that it changes a lot depending on the type of audience your promoting too. I've tried various niches now and have to say that certain niches were a lot higher converting from one social network. Overall, probably Twitter. But Facebook currently as I've been working on page promoting a lot more and trying out their ads.

Look forward to seeing the results for that.

I've tested Twitter, Facebook, G+ and dabbled in Pinterest. G+ was the least converting for me, I found it hard to target the right people in my niche, but Twitter and facebook made it a lot easier to do.

My recommendation would be to leverage software or online tools that will syndicate to all of the major social networking/social media sites and not to just concentrate on one. The top four in my opinion are going to be Facebook, Twitter, Google + and linkedin.
