Hey Warrior Forum,

I'm looking for some tips and advice on how to gain more likes and followers virally and organically on Facebook pages and Twitter pages. Anything you can share about things that have worked for you or others is greatly appreciated.

In my opinion, the best way is getting likes through Facebook Advertisements, you can find several threads there how to get almost 0.00$ Advertisements.

It is highly recommended (faster, easier) to start with it, then make it viral with some funny, cute, etc. post!

Hi and welcome... i am no expert but i have tried several facebook ads and all have been very poor. I have followed guidelines from this forum and still they do not produce. Think the max likes i got from a £5 ad was 6?

what i find effective is to message same niche pages which have a large fan base and ask them to share on of your posts from your page. Or get them to create a post mentioning your page. I have sent around 20 pages a message asking for this and a couple have done it.

what is your page about? mine is called Prevent Crime which is about crime prevention and humour. If i could.... i would change the name as it doesn't look appealing until you actually visit the page. this may be the reason my FB ads didn't perform!

The Facebook Ads no performing is a good indication that something is wrong - either with your targeting or the Fan Page. If you find a good topic you get almost no resistance.

    1. Build a group of people that continually say nice things about what you have to sell.

    2. Find people that have already purchased similar products on Facebook

Then add 1 + 2 + networking and this will equal sales!!

  • The best advice I can give is to LIKE other pages that are similar, and be engaged on those pages. Comment, post, and give advice. Treat it like a forum and establish yourself as an authority on THOSE pages. You'll be able to siphon off traffic and likes from there as well.

But don't just 'like' for the sake of 'liking'. Actually do it and be engaged.

And contrary to what others have said, I wouldn't recommend explicitly asking people for likes on these other pages. Your genuine, authoritative content will be liked organically.

Don't forget you can act on Facebook as your Page, not as an individual.

I've 'liked' other Pages using my FB Page name, and commented etc using that name. This makes it easier for others to click on my page name and be taken to my FB page.

I couldn't agree more. You don't have to ask for people to like your pages. Because eventually these 'likers' will disappear. And post or share something that is relevant to what you are going to market using the said social network sites. I have tried sharing news/blogs that have great quality content and earned followers/friends organically

Put your profile links / handles or usernames in your signatures everywhere, forums, email, guest blogging, get out there all over the place and leave your mark wherever you can. Get engaged in the online community. Do something cool for free for people, join a good cause and ask for social shares matching them with donations to a charity.

I agree this may work if your looking to promote a particular business or product or service, but what about the pizza shop down the street? Would you still visit pizza forums and post about how to make the best pizzas?

I'm no Facebook expert but there does seem to be two basic types of primary marketing on Facebook or any social media really. Direct marketing and relationship marketing. The former is about direct product sales and the latter more indirect back end sales.

The local pizza shop can purchase direct ppc ads with all the proper marketing data and analysis or can use the interactive approach. This is more of a long term rather than a short term marketing method and requires much more personal interaction, involvement and engagement.

A fan page is just that. A fun place for fans of your product or services to meet, congregate and interact and find out about your latest exploits, adventures, thoughts, jokes and opinions as well as the latest menu specials, sales, promotions and events and even special coupons or discounts for your fb fans exclusively.

Just some ideas for local pizzerias and other small local businesses.

All of you have Great advice I must say. These are all great ideas and tips. The big thing with social is that what works for some won't work for others. If you really want to make social work for you, you have to WORK to figure out what works. Just because someone tells you to post at 4pm on a Wednesday, you're going to? I manage over 40 various pages and NOT ONE of them is the same. Not only that, but it's taken me the entire time I've been working those pages to know what works. What worked last week, doesn't work this week. I analyze stats, ads, promoted posts, engagement, etc. to see how to work those pages as best as I can. If I don't see green arrows, I want to know why. The beauty of social is that it's just that, SOCIAL. There's no right answer. And there never will be!

I think what you said makes a lot of sense, in the beginning stages of running these pages what tactics did you use to build up likes, fans, users, whatever you wish to call them in order to be able to engage with them on a daily basis.

For instance, there are some small businesses, or mom and pop stores that may not have a product that separates them from the rest of the market and I'm just looking for more ways to help push their businesses into the 21st century and engage with audiences that utilize social media.

I have had success with other pages I run that have a physical product or offer a unique service etc.

Great points. Too often we fall into direct marketing mode and don't think long term. Businesses have been doing relationship marketing via branding efforts long before facebook or the internet even existed. These are huge companies and smaller ones alike.

We want results yesterday as direct marketers and measure things a bit too closely sometimes IF we're not building a long term asset, have no long term plan and are only concerned with how many sales we can get from the likes on our facebook page.
