Probably. But you shouldn't focus on that. Use social media as it's own source of traffic, not as a way to boost search traffic.

You should be present on all of them but is not helping so much. Use the normal way of promoting through media websites (blogs, articles and others), until now that's the way of increasing traffic and to grow on the searching engines.
Also, you do have to prepare your SEO campaign using some of the tools that you can find also in this forum

Social media sites are only among your options of boosting your rank. You should not put all your effort here because it's not worth it. You should focus on the more important things like improving the quality of your website, make sure it's importance does not decrease. Keep on updating original and useful info. Get important links that are relevant to your purpose. Participate in forums, write guest posts, and all those stuff.

SEO isn't about focusing on one aspect to get top rankings but I think social media still helps especially Google+. They are trying to make it better than other social media platforms. Most of my blog posts that gets a good number of plus ones tend to rank better.

It will be a big help. Social networking really creates traffic because there are lots of users. But you should not give your full attention to this, you can have other techniques that will help your sites rank.

Focus first on improving the quality of your website. Make sure you are direct with what you can offer to the needs of your targeted market. Then increase your website's exposure using social media sites and other sources. Your risk with these sites is your ads might be directed to the wrong people. If you target strictly business-related, you also have better chances at Google+.

I recently talked to a couple of "gurus" that were actually referred to me by Neil Patel (he's a famous SEO mastermind) and they are saying all the data over the last 6-9 months THEY compiled says that there's definitely a shift to "social authority" which affects rankings.

Their 2 cents but interesting stuff.
