Social Media For Web Service Businesses

Hey Warriors,

So I started up running my own offline web services company in March and so far things are going well...

I've not had a massive amount of time to implement everything that I would like yet, including social media.

So I was wondering what are your thoughts, experiences and suggestions on using social media as a consumer engagement platform for a company that offers web services?

Of course there is LinkedIn but I'm talking more specifically about Facebook, Twitter, Google+ etc.

Is it effective? Is there a market there or is it just web companies following web companies?

I'd love to know any effective strategies.

- James

All well managed Facebook page can help you convert bigger customers. A Google+ page for business can help you get found and increase your place in search results. Getting a hot retweet on twitter can help you take competitive search terms. The front end of doing these often involves a lot of time wasting. If you want to do anything, do it right and get someone that has already done a good job with it to help you do it right. I wasted hundreds of hours learning everything the hard way but now my Facebook ad company's social media is all married together in a way that takes minimal time and that helps get both leads and increases lead conversion rates.

In Google +, you can find communities similar to your niche. You can increase your network there and can find potential clients by offering your services. Facebook is the largest social site, no doubt. The downside to this is that your ads are limited within FB only. This is probably Google forcing you to use them instead. YouTube is also a good source. You can make an introductory or a demo of your business. Many people are more driven to ads they see rather than reading them. A great example is TV ads. People are more trustful of these products compared to those advertised online.

You're absolutely right about companies following companies on google+ but instead of just joing those groups, join small business groups whom you can connect with and promote your services too. Just start off by giving advice, and posting helpful tips... Then sb's will start adding you to their circles, which means they want to communicate with you.
