Pinterest Product Pins

Will these new pins make it easier to promote amazon products? Encouraging clickthrough?

Or, will it make it more 'obvious' its a promotion to the casual pinner and actually decrease the clickthroughs?

Anyone tested this yet?

Your thoughts?

I just heard about the new "rich pins" yesterday and haven't had time to test yet. But I think the recipe and movies rich pins will be great, although that remains to be seen.

The product pins might be another story, but again, we'll have to wait and see. It's been my experience that blatant ads don't work well on Pinterest, but maybe if they're in the new format, that could change.

Denise, I agree about blatant ads not working on Pinterest. So I'm wondering if Pinterest did this change on purpose to help pinners visually distinguish that some pins are just disguised ads.

I imagine they think it will improve user experience, but this may make it harder for IMers.

That might very well be true for the product pins, especially.

But I can see that the rich pins might be useful for SEO purposes.

On the other hand, if a full recipe with instructions is right there in the pin, there would be no reason for anyone to click through to visit the website/blog where the recipe originated, and that will make a lot of food bloggers mad.

But movies might be the opposite. If people find the movie review/ratings good, they could easily click the link to buy the movie.
