Ive been told that facebook has been cracking down on pages which are not for a public figure, company or organization and switching them to community pages which

A. Removes you as admin
B. Doesn't let people share posts
C. A crap more...

So what is the deal?

Which option if you were going to create a page should you create if its just going to be about a topic like car lovers?

This is true. Since you don't own the topic of cars, Facebook does not think you should have control of that page and all the fans and thus they turn it into a community page. I think this is a good thing Facebook does.

The way around this is very simple though. Create something you do own.

If you wanted to do a page around cars then I would go and register a domain name such as ilovecars.com. I would then throw up a quick blog with a few posts or Youtube videos on it and then create your fanpage for your website ilovecars.com -- which is perfectly acceptable.

Since your fanpage now represents something you do own then you should not have any problems at all.

That's right Will, pages are created to help you brand your business, profession or company. In fact that's what makes community different from pages. community is where a group of people share common interest while a page is where people meet with common interest to a particular brand or person.

There is a forum for Facebook here: Social Media Marketing Forum
By popular demand we now have a section to discuss all things Social Media - Facebook, Twitter, Google +, RebelMouse etc.

I've always used Facebook fanpages in the Community category, and I've always been admin + people could share my posts. It's perfectly normal to have a community fb fanpage when you're targeting your niche's fans. Unless you're the legal official owner of said niche.

What will most likely happen in the end is your page will just end up getting switched to a community page. You might as well just create it as a community page.

As for all those things happening to people and all the rumors. The only thing I have to say to that is a lot of the time Facebook just does whatever they want to do. Just do your best to follow the rules and hopefully none of that will happen to you.
