I'll pay you to teach us all how to make "Suggested Post"

[REOPENED] Guys,

As of lately I don't ask for help unless I've researched it extensively! And I have looked on this forum and out of this forum for this, with no luck. (I have found plenty of misinformation).

So here's the deal;

The first person to post on this thread (for everybody to see and use) how to run a "Suggested Post" advert campaign on Facebook will get $45 sent to their Paypal instantly.

Now pay close attention to what I am asking. I am talking about "Suggested Post" and NOT "Related Post" or "Promoted Post".

What is the difference? Basically a Suggested post allows you to advertise in the newsfeed to any audience. While the other types only let you advertise to your fans and your fan's friends.

BIG NOTE: If your answer does not give me the ability to run a suggested post. (like you have the correct instructions, but only select accounts are able to run a suggested post, and I will ultimately not be able to run a campaign right away) Then you will NOT earn the $45 prize!

Thanks to anyone who answers, and I hope this helps everybody else!!

ps. If you think this will be useful to you, hit the thanks button, and comment to keep the thread alive!

A Suggested Post Ad on Facebook is Great for:

Telling the viewer what you do
Targeting a LARGE audience with a bigger Ad
Making a Larger Ad Copy / Body
    Posting on NON-Friends Newsfeeds
    Provide a compelling offer
Inserting a link to your site / offer
Promoting a Post verses a Ad Copy.

Here is an example of a "Suggested Post Ad"

Creating the Ad is VERY easy.

You create a compelling post, and post it on your fan page. Then head over to the Ads Center (you can type "Ads" into the search bar on FB, it should be the first one that pops up) and click create an ad. From the drop down list, select your Fan Page. Then click on Promote Page Posts. A new section will appear below that where you can select your post you want to run the Ad for from a drop down list. You can also click on "Create New Page Post" and make the new post from there. BOOM your done. After that, the rest is normal, letting FB know who you want to target, their ages, demographics etc.

When you invite someone from your Facebook page (who already has FB account), your page will show as suggested page on his newsfeed as the Promoted post you created.

Make sure you keep the "Sponsored Stories" section all checked.

If you don't click the "remove" button, your Ad will be "basic" to choose the extended version, simply click the "remove" option.

Make sure you check the "Anyone" box in the Connections box, this will help blast it to...well...ANYONE.

NOW, anytime you get a "Like" a "Share" or a "Comment" on your post, your "Suggested Post Ad" will show up on that persons news feed for all of their firiends to see.

Whatever targeting options you make, that is where your post will be shown at. Anyone that "Likes" those pages.

This is a blurb from "http://chicagobrander.com/tag/facebook-suggested-posts/" explaining how it works / looks from the viewers perspective.

In any given week, I get posts polluting my Facebook stream pertaining to lowering my bills (with a picture of the ugliest senior citizen you have ever seen), annoying Multi-Level-Marketers, political figures I would never support and more. You’ve undoubtedly run into them too.

After all, I have “Liked” 267 things online that Facebook could monitor and learn from as is. It would not take a rocket scientist to understand many of my major passions in life: Branding, the Chicago Bears, Mexican food, craft beer, Apple and more. This isn’t guesswork. Anybody can see it.

If it’s truly a suggestion based on my preferences, the fact that these suggestions are, more often than not, just plain awful doesn’t give me a great deal of confidence. And call me lazy but do we need much more than a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” voting mechanism? Do I need to choose from about 6-7 different reasons to tell Facebook why I didn’t like the suggestion?

    Dear PROmotions LLC,

Yes!!! this looks like it's going to work. It's really late, but I will be setting up a campaign in the morning, and if it works you will have your $ paid to your paypal. Send me a PM with your Paypal address please.

To Everyone, here's the final steps that PROmotions LLC left out (provided it works, they won the prize anyways!)

1- Once you select "Promote Page Posts" and select the actual post that you want to promote you will be shown TWO advertisement section. I- right column/sidebar ad and II- Sponsored Stories.

2- Click on "remove" in the right column ad section if you'd like to focus only on the suggested post.

3- Proceed to the "Choose Your Audience" Section, and in the "Connections" part, choose "anyone."

And I believe that by choosing "Anyone" it makes your ad a suggested post, and not just a promoted post.

    Looks like that is it.

PROmotions LLC, thank you. I look forward to your paypal address and you should expect your prize by the morning.

Looks like PromotionLLC has been pretty elaborate in explaining the steps.

Yes, you are correct. Marking the targeting to everyone, makes it a suggested post. This was a change that was rolled out about 6-8 months back.

    Couple of things in addition:
    1) You can also choose to advertise a post that is not on your page. These are known as dark posts, posts that don't show up on your Fanpage but can be advertised anyway. You will need to set it up using Power editor (under ads manager) and you should be good to go.

    2) You can choose to advertise your fanpage (in the way mentioned above) or you can also advertise a direct link out ad, which takes the user directly to your site instead of the fanpage. These are known as Page post ads and can be set up through the power editor again.

    ATTENTION Open Again:
The methods described above do not seem to be a working solution to create a suggested post.

After following the methods, even though I chose "anyone" it still only would advertise to users somehow connected to my page.

Once I placed the order, then audience went from 2+Million down to 20 people!!!

I should have fully tested before paying, but luckily Promotions LLC gave me a refund.

So the post is competition is open again. Make sure to read the instructions CAREFULLY.

    Thanks all

If you make the ad then go into power editor(Google Chrome only works with Power editor). Download your ads click your ad then at the bottom once you select your page youll see options and select desktop & mobile. That will make sure it only posts the ads as suggested posts. After you select that upload the ad on power editor.

So, users only see the "suggested post" label when neither the user nor his friends are connected to the page (from which the post is posted).

To ensure you only send out "suggested posts" , you need to make the following changes to PromotionLLC's instructions.

Under the sponsored stories subsection --> Hit Remove. Basically you will not be showing the ad to anyone who interacts with your page. The red circled bit below.

In addition, you should completely exclude any other connections to your page as well. Scroll down to the targeting sub section and look for the "connections subsection" and check "Only people not connected to your page"

This should ensure that your ad only goes out to new people and hence you get the suggested post bit.

As long as the user is not already connected to your page or none of his friends are already connected to your page.

If not, the ad will still show up but not with the "suggested post" label. It will show up as a normal sponsored story.

If you only want it to show up as a suggested post, apply my steps above and then target using custom audiences.

    Ok guys.

Gman, I am testing what you said. So far it looks like all it is doing, is creating a right column ad, right column ads have been open advertising for a long time. A suggested post in the newsfeed, where people actually look. I will let you know once the ad is approved and goes live. But in any case Dustin answered first, and...

Dustin / Seifershi, I am also testing what you recommended. I am 90% sure you won. this is achieved by selecting desktop and mobile news feed / mini feed. I get this confidence from the difference in CTR I am now seeing. But I'm trying to see the ad to confirm.

Ofc, no worries on the "attribution" . I do this for a living (among other digital marketing) and get a small kick out of this.

Yeah, you are right, looks like I missed out on the placement. It has to be only News feed (Desktop) and mobile.

    Hi

If you want to be able to advertise in the newsfeed section to ANYONE, you need to put external links.

    1. click create an ad
    2. the destination should be an external link.
    3. create your ad
    4. choose your demographics.
    5. remove the right column ad

    Tell me if it helps.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST 'COLLABORATIVE" AND "POSITIVE-SPIRITED" THREADS I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS ON THE WARRIOR FORUM.

In all seriousness, I have seen and experienced a fair amount of "sniping" and backstabbing...but this thread is so different...Warriors helping Warriors.

    This is great.
    Thanks.

Suggested post is a label given to Page Post Ads. At small scale, you can use the Boost Post
Create a post. Then go to the power editor, create an ad promoting that post and specify "only on desktop & mobile". Then optimize it how you want to
