I look at facebook like a converter. It's a platform where people can find things. Create a cool but unique title for your page, put a link to your page and other important info in your page description. Build content and then post up links to your website into your posts.

Run a CPM campaign. If you do well, you can get up to 1,500 likes per day for just $1.00. The point of using facebook is to get people to like and share your content so that your content spreads but you have to make sure your content contains a link to something such as your facebook page or your website. Your goal is to direct traffic somewhere.

Yes It helps you. I didn't spend much time analyzing that for my own website, just read about that a few days ago from an seo expert. And if it works I will only try to get more shares. Google loves specially google+ shares thats obvious. Google has a specially rate for authors on websites that is based on social media sharing.

    NO!

SEO= Search Engine Optimization , that is improving the site in order to rank as high as possible with search engines (normally Google)

A Facebook like or Share has no effect on SEO at all in any way. For everyone who is saying it does they are basically saying that Google listened to Facebook in order to rank a web site. Thats just silly in general, its even more silly when you consider that Google and Facebook are strong competitors with each other.

However: while Likes and Shares DO NOT help with SEO (how your site ranks in Google) it will help drive referral traffic to your site.

Well, google wants "social proof", so I think if you have interaction on your facebook (twitter, linkedin etc) page, of course they have to be linked via Google + to your Website, Google than gives you credit for that. They see that there is something going on.

This post says it all. Stop trying to manipulate Google and just focus on creating good content. It makes me tick when people think they can outsmart Google, an algorithm that has been developed by PhD and Harvard geniuses.

Google tries to rank the best possible website first. Not long time ago people were using blogcommenting software to get good rankings. These people outsmarted Google.

But the thing is, just try to make the best possible website, because it will get harder and harder to outsmart Google, so just stick with what they want and create quality websites.

Why are people talking about G+ when the OP asked about Facebook?

As a few others have stated...shares drive traffic. Which is the sole reason for SEO.

So, essentially, getting social shares/likes is an entirely different method than SEO. It bypasses the incessant need to count links, check the SERPs daily and hope against hope that someone clicks on your link.

Social media has a place in search results, but it will never be a big place. Social sharing and liking is currently one of the many factors that Google uses in its ranking algorithm. However, it is not now, and never will be one of the major factors.

Not true. Social media is "The People Have Spoken." What does Google say it strives to do? Give people what they want. The best user experience is the one where users get to experience what they want, not some random website that ranks high because it has 10000 spammy links. You think Google thinks that site is "popular" or a true authority? Not a chance.

Social shares are HUGE! Let no one tell you otherwise.

Plus, with direct traffic to your site from social platforms, who needs Google's search anyway?

Yes, it helps you because most of the traffic comes via Social Networks.

Ahrefs can show you how many facebook likes and shairs the link have. These are great social signals and yes they can help you with a SEO of your website. In my eyes SEO will depend more and more from quality social signals. That means no bot, fake likes, etc. Do you think 20k real retweets with your link would not help for your SERP? Common..
