Ideas on how to increase user activity on facebook pages?

I'm running this facebook page: facebook.com/epicpixcom/ - nothing fancy. Just a simple page with funny pictures. I'm running highly targeted ads, who only target people interested in funny pictures and that stuff.

But facebook is ******* me in the ads big time. The amount of people who "see my posts", isn't increasing at all. With 200 likes the reach of my post was almost as high as it is now with 13k likes. How on gods earth is this possible?

I understand that not EVERY user sees my post, but c'mon with 13k likes I'd expect to reach at least 20% with every post + additional views through shares/likes. But some posts only reach 300-400 reach...wtf?!

Same goes with the amount of likes. I'm in the funny picture business since almost 10 years, I know which pictures are doing good and which ones aren't. But my posts on the fb page seem to perform pretty randomly. Sometimes two very similar images generate 5 and 40 likes. And I always keep the time between the posts the same, so time shouldn't be a factor.

Anyhow. Does anybody have ideas how to increase the amount of activity? I know you can post images where people should participate and all that, but that didn't work too well.

What's your reach, compared to the likes of your facebook page? Is it normal to have only 500-1000 reach, with a 10k fb page?

Thanks for every helpful comment!

You have to keep in mind that Facebooks stats including reach is a little delayed and actually shows the data from a couple of days ago. I just had a look at your page and it seems that the talking about is 1013 for a page with 13105 likes , that is your talking about is just under 8% which isnt to bad. Most of them are probably from the 'like' action however. Which counts as talking about.

It looks like you have a fair amount of engagement on the page.

Hello Sir, Don't I know you from somewhere? LOL Aggressive, bold and fearless comes from wanting to help, learn, ask questions - especially why? Can you tell me WHY it says 257 people saw my posts when I only have 53 LIKES?
257 Reach: People Who Saw Your Posts
      +786.2% from previous week

Maybe that's because I have at least 6 APPS on that Page with USERS who also see all my posts even if they didn't LIKE that page. Could having your own Apps with USERS be the answer instead of YOU being someone's User, why NOT be the Developer with your OWN Users?

Users are the reason why Facebook exists and Developers help Facebook keep their 1 Billlion Users happy for free except for the ones who charge their Users if they want to use their apps...North Social charges by the DAY.

Honestly, that is SO the normal these days. I have more than one Facebook Page. One with nearly 32k followers, and I might get 2-4k views PER post. It sucks big time, but it is what it is.

The only thing I did was changed from a scheduler to scheduling on Facebook. That upped me numbers. And for me, I just posted a link to my blog since I'm not a picture website like yours. Posting pictures will actually show insanely lower views, at least that is how it is when I post pictures. Makes no sense how Facebook is now. :/

      Lisa,

Can you say why you think pictures shows lower views? Are you saying you just do text and have it go to your blog? Everything I read seems to say to use lots of pictures or memes.

You know, I'm not really sure at all. I'm in a lot of Facebook Groups w/ other bloggers and it's the same trend. I will say that the pictures DO help increase talk about, which is good since it will help more people to view them. I say try a mix of both.. pics on the page, and conversations starters w/o pictures.

There is one Facebook page that doesn't use pictures, but only posts weird and interesting facts. You could try that in addition to what you're already doing!

I believe photos are great ways to increase activity. That's why everybody is doing it. To increase activity, I suggest you hold a contest that requires them to upload their picture of a certain category. For example, best baby picture (I've seen a lot of them lately) or because you have funny pics, let them upload their funniest picture. One with the most likes will win. That will definitely increase your activity. I've noticed so many of my FB friends asking me to like a page and their picture as well to win the contest. For the contest though, I think you should use an app as required by the Facebook team.

that's a good no. but pic likes seem a big problem, they are very low.
You need to promote it, place fb page link on your every profile, share you page with friend, only they become trusted visitor.

Face Book Reach is always a problem, specially these days. I have a dedicated niche based fan page with 240K fans and each time I post, it only reach 30-35K only. thats not good at all,
the common conception is that post reach to one third number of the fans which is not true in all cases and specially these days.

The number of Fans you have is about 10% of the number of LIKES on most pages. You don't reach most "Fans" because they aren't REAL "Fans" if they only LIKE your page once and never come back.

Pages are useless without Apps because you need Users that automatically LIKE your Page when they authorize your App once. That's when Users become your real Fans who will see all your updates until they decide to quit using your App.

If you can entice your Users to add your App to Tabs on their own Pages, your reach will go through the roof. Facebook gives popular Apps more free distribution because Apps keep Users coming back and staying on Facebook longer. If Users Like your App, then Facebook will REALLY LIKE YOU and that's why Apps are really the only way to increase user activity.

Please Note: There is nothing for sale or any hidden ulterior motives. I don't do WSO's or collect email addresses. If you happen to see any opt-in forms, they might look good but they don't work.

The best way to increase user activity on on Facebook fan pages is by being active yourself. Social networking is all about establishing relationships, and building contacts. The emphasis should be on building trust and loyalty more than a huge following.

Getting more interaction and engagement from your fans can be hard at times. I find that holding contests on the page can help a lot. Have the user enter it by sharing the page, this will bring in more fans too. Post viral pictures as well, and have pictures telling the user to comment "...if" something. This is good not only for engagement but also promotion.

  • I have a page with 54k likes and it averages between 5-15k views, it is increasing but you have to remember fb dont allow your posts to everyone, it goes to people who fb consider interact with your page regularly and therefore will want to see your posts so if someone likes your page but never likes your posts, comments etc chances are they will not get any of your posts.

so the more you can encourage people to intereact the better your chances are but then you also have to interact, I make it a policy that I either like every comment made or I respond to it. (I have had many messages from people saying that they appreciate that I reply and am interested in them as many pages dont) so that keeps them coming back.

plus the more a particular post shares the more views you will receive, for some people it works to do s4s but it doesn really work well for me as your post is viewed even less when it is shared.

but you have to remember fb want you to promote your post which they obviously charge for so they are going to make it hard...

Make sure to ask questions. Don't just put share if you agree or share this if you like. You should create posts with the intentions of having interaction from your fans. When you ask those questions make sure to give a reply to show that you care about your chosen topic and you are there to monitor your Facebook page.

Learn how to effectively network. Go to the most popular niches that are similar to yours and tell the owners of the pages that you will share their page if they share yours. Over time this will be the best free way to get traffic and likes to your page.

Post good content more often and don't spam! Make sure to post good relevant content at least a couple times a day. If you can post new interesting content every 3 hours to keep your fans engaged that will help your content go viral and get even more free targeted fans. Remember to post once about yourself for every 10 posts.

The best way to receive activity and engagement on your fan pages is by staying active yourself. You have to establish relationships and also build up your contacts. Your focus should be on building your brand through trust and loyalty and the huge following you are looking for will come.

post your pics on Friday evening and Monday morning. because all the fb users who work in companies they checked their profile mostly weeks last day and weeks first day to check whats going on these days. Invite your friends and share your pages with same communities.

I think you must post regularly. This will let your fans know more about your page and they will start interacting more. Try to post quality contents which attracts people. If people find you posts interesting then will definitely engage in it. And also post pictures with your posts. This will help you more in engaging people with your Facebook page.

Well you can boost a post for $5.00 and it will show in the news feed of people who like your page and their friends... sometimes Facebook chooses to decline boosting a post for you depending on the niche you are in. I know for Make Money Online it is not possible to boost a post.
